  • Objective : This study was designed to determine the effects of sensory integration group therapy with regard to the sensory processing, peer interactions, and task performance, and whether they continue. Methods : Twelve children aged 7 to 13 years enrolled in this study for 60 minutes per session, three times a week for 8 weeks. Sensory integration group therapy consisted of a total of 24 activities that included sensory processing, play skills, and interaction with peers. Short Sensory Profile was used to select subjects. In order to measure the outcome, we used the Short Sensory Profile, Penn Interactive Peer Play Scale and Canadian Occupational Performance Measure at pre, post, and follow-up evaluations. The results were analyzed by means of repeated measures analysis, and the pre-test, post-test, and follow-up tests were compared using the Wilcoxon matched-pair signed rank test. Results : After sensory integration group therapy, sensory processing, peer interaction, and task performance significantly improved(p<.05). In addition, we confirmed that the effects of treatment were maintained in the 4 weeks follow-up test. Conclusion : Sensory integration group therapy is an effective way of mediating effects not only by improving sensory processing skills, but also by providing imitation and training in groups for children in need of peer interaction and linking them to daily life.

The study used was a pre-post process. The intervention was conducted only on the study group twice a week for 5 weeks and for 40 minutes per session, for a total of ten sessions. The measuring instruments used to compare the hand functions and handwriting legibility were the Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function Test, Grip Strength Test, and Legibility Test. The data analysis used a Wilcoxon signed rank, Mann-Whitney U and Chi-Square cross analysis. Results : The fidget spinner training showed significant improvement in the study group's hand function(grip strength and handwriting legibility) and a significant difference was shown between the control and study groups. Conclusion : This study confirmed the value and utility of a fidget spinner as a tool for improving the hand function and handwriting legibility of elementary school students in lower grades. Future studies are expected to verify the effectiveness of the fidget spinner training based on the present study.

To measure the daily performance ability of children with developmental disabilities, we used evaluative Pediatric Evaluation of Disability Inventory and The burden of parents was measured by Family Burden Questionnaire and the quality of life by Beach Center Family Quality of Life Scale. Based on the data collected, independent t-test, one-way anova, Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were conducted to check the impact of a child's daily performance ability of developmental disability on the parent's burden and quality of life. Results : The daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities showed a negative correlation with the burden of the parents and a positive correlation with the quality of life. The hygiene and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had an important influence on parent's burden, while hygiene, toileting, and bowel & bladder control of children with developmental disabilities had a significant effect on their parent's quality of life. Conclusion : It has been shown that the daily performance ability of a children with developmental disabilities has a major influence on parent's burden and quality of life. In order to reduce the burden and improve quality of life, therapeutic intervention, education and interview programs for daily life of children with developmental disabilities need to be carried out systematically by occupational therapists.

Cases were chosen mild, moderate and severe spastic cerebral palsy with sitting balance and perception. To achieve that purpose, this training program was carried out 5 times a week for 4 weeks with 4 children. The performance of grasping reflex skill training and grip strength was evaluated each other. Results: Both hands were investigated with grasping reflex skill test and grip strength in two week intervals. In the dominant or nondominant hand, the more improvement of grasping reflex skill test is high, the more that of grip strength is high. Conclusion: The result were as follows that.
