  • CBD is a software development approach based on reusable component and supports easy modification and evolution of software. For the success of this approach, a component must be developed with high cohesion and low coupling. In this paper, we propose the two types of clustering analysis technique based on affinity between use-cases and classes and propose component identification method applying to this technique. We also propose component reference model and CBD methodology framework and perform a ease study to demonstrate how the affinity-based clustering technique is used in component identification method. Component identification method contains three tasks such as component extraction, component specification and component architecting. This method uses object-oriented concept for identifying component, which improves traceability from analysis to implementation and can automatically extract component. This method reflects the low coupling-high cohesion principle for good modularization about reusable component.

  • The ability to characterize feature objects from radar readings is often limited by simply looking at their still frame reflectivity, differential reflectivity and differential phase data. In many cases, time-series study of these objects' reflectivity profile is required to properly characterize features objects of interest. This paper introduces a novel technique to automatically track multiple 3D radar structures in C,S-band in real-time using Doppler radar and profile their characteristic reflectivity distribution in time series. The extraction of reflectivity profile from different radar cluster structures is done in three stages: 1. static frame (zone-linkage) clustering, 2. dynamic frame (evolution-linkage) clustering and 3. characterization of clusters through time series profile of reflectivity distribution. The two clustering schemes proposed here are applied on composite multi-layers CAPPI (Constant Altitude Plan Position Indicator) radar data which covers altitude range of 0.25 to 10 km and an area spanning over hundreds of thousands $km^2$. Discrete numerical simulations show the validity of the proposed technique and that fast and accurate profiling of time series reflectivity distribution for deformable 3D radar structures is achievable.

  • Cosmic-ray muon scattering tomography (MST) technology is a new radiation imaging technology with unique advantages. As the performance of its image reconstruction algorithm has a crucial influence on the imaging quality, researches on this algorithm are of great significance to the development and application of this technology. In this paper, a fast inspection algorithm based on clustering analysis for the identification of the existence of nuclear materials is studied and optimized. Firstly, the principles of MST technology and a binned clustering algorithm were introduced, and then several simulation experiments were carried out using Geant4 toolkit to test the effects of exposure time, algorithm parameter, the size and structure of object on the performance of the algorithm. Based on these, we proposed two optimization methods for the clustering algorithm: the optimization of vertical distance coefficient and the displacement of sub-volumes. Finally, several sets of experiments were designed to validate the optimization effect, and the results showed that these two optimization methods could significantly enhance the distinguishing ability of the algorithm for different materials, help to obtain more details in practical applications, and was therefore of great importance to the development and application of the MST technology.

  • Object-based image analysis (OBIA) allows higher computation efficiency and usability of information inherent in the image, as it reduces the complexity of the image while maintaining the image properties. Superpixel methods oversegment the image with a smaller image unit than an ordinary object segment and well preserve the edges of the image. SLIC (Simple linear iterative clustering) is known for outperforming the previous superpixel methods with high image segmentation quality. Although the input parameter for SLIC, number of superpixels has considerable influence on image segmentation results, impact analysis for SLIC parameter has not been investigated enough. In this study, we performed optimal parameter analysis and evaluation of change detection for SLIC-based superpixel techniques using KOMPSAT data. Forsuperpixel generation, three superpixel methods (SLIC; SLIC0, zero parameter version of SLIC; SNIC, simple non-iterative clustering) were used with superpixel sizes in ranges of $5{\times}5$ (pixels) to $50{\times}50$ (pixels). Then, the image segmentation results were analyzed for how well they preserve the edges of the change detection reference data. Based on the optimal parameter analysis, image segmentation boundaries were obtained from difference image of the bi-temporal images. Then, DBSCAN (Density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise) was applied to cluster the superpixels to a certain size of objects for change detection. The changes of features were detected for each superpixel and compared with reference data for evaluation. From the change detection results, it proved that better change detection can be achieved even with bigger superpixel size if the superpixels were generated with high regularity of size and shape.

  • This paper presents a method of colored object extraction from an image using the fuzzy neural network. Fuzzy neural network divides an image into two clusters. It extracts the prototypes of Cb and Cr of object and background by controlling the vigilance parameter. The proposed method extracted object regardless of the position, the size, and the intensity of object. We compared the performance of the proposed method with that of the method of using subjective threshold value. And, we compared the performance of the proposed method with that of the method of using subjective threshold value by using several images with added noises.

  • The most popular approach in object classification is based on the bag of visual-words model, which has several fundamental problems that restricting the performance of this method, such as low time efficiency, the synonym and polysemy of visual words, and the lack of spatial information between visual words. In view of this, an object classification based on weakly supervised E2LSH and saliency map weighting is proposed. Firstly, E2LSH (Exact Euclidean Locality Sensitive Hashing) is employed to generate a group of weakly randomized visual dictionary by clustering SIFT features of the training dataset, and the selecting process of hash functions is effectively supervised inspired by the random forest ideas to reduce the randomcity of E2LSH. Secondly, graph-based visual saliency (GBVS) algorithm is applied to detect the saliency map of different images and weight the visual words according to the saliency prior. Finally, saliency map weighted visual language model is carried out to accomplish object classification. Experimental results datasets of Pascal 2007 and Caltech-256 indicate that the distinguishability of objects is effectively improved and our method is superior to the state-of-the-art object classification methods.

  • The purpose of this paper is object recognition even in the presence of occlusion by using generalized Hough transform(GHT). The GHT can be considered as a kind of model based object recognition algorithm and is executed in the following two stages. The first stage is to store the information of the model in the form of R-table (Reference table). The next stage is to identify the existence of the objects in the image by using the R-table. The improved GHT method is proposed for the practical vision system. First, in constructing the R-table, we extracted the partial arc from the portion of the whole object boundary, and this partial arc can be used for constructing the R-table. Also, clustering algorithm is employed for compensating an error arised by digitizing an object image. Second, an efficient method is introduced to avoid Ballard's use of 4-D array which is necessary for estimating position, orientation and scale change of an object. Only 2-D array is enough for recognizing an object. Especially, scale token method is introduced for calculating the scale change which is easily affected by camera zoom. The results of our test show that the improved hierarchical GHT method operates stably in the realistic vision situation, even in the case of object occlusion.

  • Detecting and segmenting diffuse targets in laser ranging data is a critical problem for tactical reconnaissance. In this study, we propose a new method that facilitates the characterization of diffuse irregularly shaped objects using "spin images," i.e., local 2D histograms of laser returns oriented in 3D space, and a clustering process. The proposed "cluster-based spin imaging" method resolves the problem of using standard spin images for diffuse targets and it eliminates much of the computational complexity that characterizes the production of conventional spin images. The direct processing of pre-segmented laser points, including internal points that penetrate through a diffuse object's topmost surfaces, avoids some of the requirements of the approach used at present for spin image generation, while it also greatly reduces the high computational time overheads incurred by searches to find correlated images. We employed 3D airborne range data over forested terrain to demonstrate the effectiveness of this method in discriminating the different geometric structures of individual tree clusters. Our experiments showed that cluster-based spin images have the potential to separate classes in terms of different ages and portions of tree crowns.
