Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing hospital staffs' performance ability of Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Methods: The study was conducted with 250 hospital staffs in B hospital located in Busan. The survey data were collected from August 1 to September 15, 2012 and were analyzed using frequencies, percentages, means, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression with the SPSS WIN 19.0 program. Results: There were statistically significant differences in performance ability of CPR depending on occupations, CPR experience, CPR situations, identification of Automated external defibrillator (AED) location within the hospital, AED use experience, CPR training experience and AED training experience. A significant positive correlation was found between CPR knowledge and performance ability in addition to a significant positive correlation between CPR attitude and to performance ability. The significant factors influencing performance ability of CPR were CPR attitude, occupations, CPR training experience, knowledge and identification of AED location within the hospital. Those factors explained about 40.1% of the variance. Conclusion: It is necessary to develop a strategy for hospital staff to improve the levels of performance ability of CPR.

This study examined the effect of the distance Infection Control Education Program (ICEP), developed based on the ADDIE model, on infection control knowledge, attitude, and performance among care workers in long-term care facilities nationwide. The program, developed based on the ADDIE model, was applied to 173 care workers directly responsible for nursing care of elderly residents in lomg-term care facilities. The distance ICEP for care workers was conducted through the website and lasted 30 minutes for each of the eight topics. To determine the effectiveness of the education, infection control knowledge, attitude, performance, and satisfaction were surveyed before and four weeks after the program. Differences in infection control knowledge, attitude, and performance before and after the distance ICEP were assessed by a t-test. A significant difference was observed in knowledge and infection control performance after the distance ICEP was administered to care workers. In the sub-domains of infection control performance, overall understanding of infection, regular infection control education, infection control by special pathogen (multidrug-resistant bacteria, tuberculosis, tick-borne infectious diseases), and detailed infection control education by infection site (pressure ulcers and urinary tract infections) were significantly improved. Infection control knowledge and performance improved through the distance ICEP applied to care workers. Satisfaction also displayed high scores on most items and indicated that it was helpful for infection control in facilities, confirming the effectiveness of infection control education. Based on the survey of care workers nationwide, the infection education program can be effectively used for care workers in the future.

Purpose: This research was, by investigating the relations between the cultural types of a nursing organization in military hospital and performance, to ascertain the cultural types to be able to improve performance. Method: The date were gathered from 255 nurse officers who were in 19 military hospitals by using the self-report type of questionnaire. The period of data collection was from April 20, 2003 to July 15, 2003. For this research, the following tools were used: the tools for measuring the organizational characteristics, organizational culture, and job satisfaction, the tool for measuring organizational commitment. For data analysis the SPSS Win 12.0 program was used. Result: 1) Most of the cultural types of a nursing organization in military hospital is Relation-oriented. 2) In the relation between general the characteristics of subject and the organizational cultural type, there was a difference in the innovation-oriented, relation-oriented, hierarchy-oriented, and task-oriented culture according to nurse officers careers, hospital types, year in hospital, marital status, and unit(p<0.05). 3) In the relation between general characteristics of subject and organizational performance, there was a difference in the job satisfaction, affective commitment, transactional commitment, and normative commitment according to nurse officers careers, education, madrigal status and unit(p<0.05). 4) In the relationship between the of a military hospital were correlated with the type of each culture(p=0.00), 5) In the relation between the organizational culture type of military hospital and its performance, there was a positive correlation among job satisfaction and innovation-oriented culture, relation-oriented culture, task-oriented culture(p<0.05). And hierarchy-oriented culture showed that they had a weak negative correlation with job satisfaction(p<0.05). There was a positive correlation among affective commitment and innovation-oriented culture, relation-oriented culture, task-oriented culture(p<0.05). And hierarchy-oriented culture showed that they had a weak negative correlation with affective commitment(p<0.05). There was no culture type significantly related to continuance commitment and there was a weak positive correlation among normative commitment and innovation-oriented culture, relation-oriented culture, task-oriented culture. The types to have an influence upon nurse officers' job satisfaction were relation-oriented culture and innovation-oriented culture(p=0.00). And relation-oriented culture and innovation-oriented culture were major variances for affective commitment and only relation-oriented culture was influential variance for normative commitment(p=0.00). Conclusion: The organizational culture type was found which had an influence upon nurse officers' job satisfaction and organizational commitment. These result are very significant in having showed the persons in charge of nursing administration a basic data for creation of an effective organizational culture.
This study aimed to seek the way of effectively managing job stress of shift work nurses, to improve nursing performance, the influence of job stress of shift work nurses on nursing performance through convergence research. A total of 244 questionnaires obtained by a survey targeting nurses, who were doing shift work in a university hospital located in B city, in the period from March 2 to 15, 2015 were analyzed using the SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the mean score of job stress was 3.57 points, and the mean score of nursing performance was 3.69 points. Job stress made a significant positive(+) influence on the sub-dimensions of interpersonal duty. Therefore, efforts should be made to more accurately identify shift work nurses' job stress and efficiently manage the nursing personnel. Moreover, if shift work nurses' job stress is effectively managed by preparing practical job stress management intervention programs for continuous improvement of nursing performance, high quality medical services will be provided through high quality nursing practice.

Purpose: The aim of this study is to identify the influence of visual and hearing impairment on the activities of daily living of community dwelling elderly. Methods: Data were collected by home visiting interviewers from 452 older people aged 65 years or older living in community. Resident Assessment Instrument MDS-HC(2.0version) was used for data collection. Data analysis for descriptive statistics, Chi-square test and multiple regression was made by SAS 6.2 Results: 34.7% of the subject had hearing impairment and 64.3% had visual impairment Among IADL. one half of them were dependent in ordinary house work and meal preparation. In the case of ADL. 13.9% of subjects were dependent in bathing and 8.9% in personal hygiene. There was significant difference in IADL performance by visual and hearing impairment On the other hand, ADL performance showed the significant difference. only in the case of hearing impairment. As the result of input of visual and hearing impairment in the process of regression. variances were increased from 3% to 11%. Conclusions: Large proportions of older people living in the community have visual and hearing impairment. It could be confirmed that hearing and vision were significant factors influencing on IADL performance of older people. Intervention and support policy for elderly needs to focus on improvement of visual and hearing impairment.

This study was done to compare the educational effects of two nursing students groups, CPR theoretical and practical education versus CPR theoretical education only. It would be used as a basis for more effective CPR training of future nursing students. The subjects in study were 72 nursing students in D college D city, from august 22 to august 24, 2011. The collected data were analyzed with SPSS WIN 18.0 program for the frequency, percentage, $x^2$-test, t-test and paired t-test. On the findings of this study, CPR training improved not only CPR performance but also self-efficacy in the both groups. Especially, the combination with theoretical and practical education was seen as a more effective methods. Therefore, combinational training would be required for more effective CPR training, rather than focusing on training for improving their simple knowledge. Furthermore, it will help nursing students to perform quickly and accurately CPR in unforeseen situations.
The purpose of this study is to identify the correlations among learning self-efficacy, confidence in performance, perception of importance and transfer intention for core basic nursing skill in nursing students. The subjects of this study were 2nd grade students at a nursing university. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 21.0 program. As a result, the transfer intention had a correlation with the learning self-efficacy (r=.49, p<.001), confidence in performance (r=.30, p=.006), perception of the importance (r=.31, p=.005). The results of this study suggest that further research is necessary to verify the causal relationship between the transfer intention and the related variables in order to develop an effective education program for promoting the transfer intention.
This study is a secondary data analysis to investigate the nursing tasks performance, appropriate performer, and job satisfaction in the general wards with sift work. We found that nurses performed direct (45%) and indirect nursing (55%). The workload per shift was 37.2% in the day, 35.6% in the evening, and 27.2% at night. The tasks performed after handover were 'direct nursing (34.5%)' and 'documentation and notification (25.8%)'. Nurses responded that there were some tasks that could be delegated to nursing assistants or had ambiguous boundaries with other medical personnel. There was a significant correlation between compliance to the job description of the night shift and job satisfaction (rs=.43, p=.01). These results imply that it is necessary to establish strategies that will enhance work efficiency based on job analysis by shift work, reduce handover time using EMR system, stmart devices, and clarify appropriate performers.
The purpose of this study was to identify the influencing factors on the breast self-examination performance among nursing students. The data collection period was from April 12 to April 26, 2021. Data was gathered from 240 nursing students by using a structured questionnaire. The data was analyzed using Pearson's correlation coefficients and a stepwise regression analysis using the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. As the result of this study, the factors influencing breast self-examination perfomance were found to be breast self-examination and dietary habits with the explanatory power of these variables being 14.2%(F=19.53, 𝜌<.001). Based on this study, further study may be needed to evaluate the dietary habits of nursing students so that they can practice proper eating behavior. In addition, to maximize the educational effect, there may need to be a development of programs aimed to prevent breast cancer among nursing students.
Purpose: The aim of this descriptive study was to explore the relationship between non-technical skills (NTSs) and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) performance of nurses' teams in simulated cardiac arrest in the hospital. Methods: The sample was 28 teams of nurses in one university hospital located in Seoul. A high fidelity simulator was used to enact simulated cardiac arrest. The nurse teams were scored by raters using both the CPR performance checklist and the NTSs checklist. Specifically the CPR performance checklist included critical actions; time elapsed to initiation of critical actions, and quality of cardiac compression. The NTSs checklist was comprised of leadership, communication, mutual performance monitoring, maintenance of guideline, and task management. Data were collected directly from manikin and video recordings. Results: There was a significant difference between the medians of the NTSs and CPR performance (Mann Whitney U=43.5, p=.014). In five subcategories, communication (p=.026), mutual performance monitoring (p=.005), and maintenance of guideline (p=.003) differed significantly with CPR performance in medians. Leadership (p=.053) and task management (p=.080) were not significantly different with CPR performance. Conclusion: The findings indicate that NTSs of teams in addition to technical skills of individual rescuers affect the outcome of CPR. NTSs development and assessment should be considered an integral part of resuscitation training.
