Unsteady Shock-Induced Combustion has been studied for the past few decades since it is considered as one of the potential ways to reach supersonic flights. Experimental observations of Unsteady SIC were observed as early as 1960's. But Lehr was the first to report in detail the mechanisms of Shock-Induced Combustion experimentally. Numerical Studies on SIC were helpful in explaining the insight into the oscillatory behaviour in the mid 90's to early 2000's. Detailed reaction mechanisms is required to prediction the SIC flowfield more in detail. However at that time, very few reaction mechanisms on hydrogen-oxidation were reported. In the last decade, various number of hydrogen reaction mechanisms were reported. In this study, an attempt has been made to analyze the effect of various reaction mechanisms in an unsteady mode of Shock-Induced Combustion.
The problem of reactivity oscillations for a point reactor constitutes an interesting aspect of nuclear reactor physics and its solution may give important information for dynamic and safety assessments. The present paper considers the problem of a reactivity oscillation for a source-driven system which involves some specific aspects that introduce significant differences with respect to the source-free situation. Assuming a square-wave shape for the reactivity insertion, the solution is derived by a fully analytical approach. The conditions for stability and instability can be identified in a straightforward way by directly studying the stationarity of the power response. Numerical results presented allow to discuss the role of the system kinetic parameters and of the time-shape of the reactivity wave.

In this paper, we study the oscillation problem of the following higher-order neutral differential equation with positive and negative coefficients and mixed arguments $$z^{(n)}(t)+q_1(t)|x(t-{\sigma}_1)|^{\alpha-1}x(t-{\sigma}_1)+q_2(t)|x(t-{\sigma}_2)|^{\beta-1}x(t-{\sigma}_2)=e(t)$$, where $t{\geq}t_0$, $z(t)=x(t)-p(t)x(t-{\tau})$ with $p(t)$ > 0, ${\beta}>1>{\alpha}>0$, ${\tau}$, ${\sigma}_1$ and ${\sigma}_2$ are real numbers. Without imposing any restriction on ${\tau}$, we establish several oscillation criteria for the above equation in two cases: (i) $q_1(t){\leq}0$, $q_2(t)>0$, ${\sigma}_1{\geq}0$ and ${\sigma}_2{\leq}{\tau}$; (ii) $q_1(t){\geq}0$, $q_2(t)<0$, ${\sigma}_1{\geq}{\tau}$ and ${\sigma}_2{\leq}0$. As an interesting application, our results can also be applied to the following higher-order differential equation with positive and negative coefficients and mixed arguments $$x^{(n)}(t)+q_1(t)|x(t-{\sigma}_1)|^{\alpha-1}x(t-{\sigma}_1)+q_2(t)|x(t-{\sigma}_2)|^{\beta-1}x(t-{\sigma}_2)=e(t)$$. Two numerical examples are also given to illustrate the main results.
The effects of rotary oscillation on the unsteady laminar flow past a circular cylinder. are numerically investigated in the present study. The numerical solutions for the 20 Wavier-Stokes equation are obtained using a finite volume method Tn the framework of an overlapping grid system. The vortex formation behind a circular cylinder and the hydrodynamics of wake flows for different rotary oscillation conditions are analyzed from the results of numerical simulation. The lock-on region is defined as the region that the natural shedding frequency due to the Karmann Vortex shedding and the forcing frequency due to the forced oscillating a cylinder are nearly same, and the quasi-periodic states are observed around that region. At the intersection between lock-on and non-lock-on region the shedding frequency is bifurcated. After the bifurcation, one frequency fellows the forcing frequency($S_f$) and the other returns to the natural shedding frequency($St_0$). in the quasi-periodic states, the variation of magnitudes and relevant phase changes of $C_L$ with forcing phase are examined.

Large amplitude oscillation of steepled main cables usually presents during construction of a long-span bridge. To study this phenomenon, six typical main cables with different cross sections during construction are investigated. Two main foci have been conducted. Firstly, aerodynamic coefficients of a main cable are obtained and compared through simulation and wind tunnel test: (1) to ensure the simulation accuracy, influences of the numerical model's grid size, and the jaggy edges of main cable's cross section on main cable's aerodynamic coefficients are investigated; (2) aerodynamic coefficients of main cables at different wind attack angles are obtained based on the wind tunnel test in which the experimental model is made by rigid plastic using the 3D Printing Technology; (3) then numerical results are compared with wind tunnel test results, and they are in good agreement. Secondly, aerodynamic coefficients of the six main cables at different wind attack angles are obtained through numerical simulation. Then Den Hartog criterion is used to analyze the transverse galloping of main cables during construction. Results show all the six main cables may undergo galloping, which may be an important reason for the large amplitude oscillation of steepled main cables during construction. The flow structures around the main cables indicate that the characteristic of the airflow trajectory over a steepled main cable may play an important role in the galloping generation. Engineers should take some effective measures to control this harmful phenomenon due to the big possibility of the onset of galloping during the construction period.
Recent observations by Hinode show weakly-attenuated coronal loop oscillations in the presence of background flow (Ofman & Wang 2008, A&A, 482, L9). We study the vertical kink oscillations in solar coronal loops, considering field aligned flows inside the loops as well as surrounding the loops environment. The two dimensional numerical model of straight slab is used to explore the excitation and attenuation of the impulsively triggered fast magnetosonic standing kink waves. A full set of time dependent ideal magnetohydrodynamics equations is solved numerically taking into account the value of flow of the order of observed flows detected by SOT/Hinode. We find that relaxing the assumption of the limited flows within the loops enhances the damping rate of the fundamental mode of the standing kink waves by 2 - 3 % as compared to flow pattern which is basically localized within the loops. We further notice that extending the flow pattern beyond the loop thickness also enhances the strength of the shock associated with slow magnetoacoustic waves, recognized as an addition feature detected in the numerical simulation. The wider out-flow pattern destroys the oscillation patterns early as compared to narrower flow pattern, in other words we can say that it affects the durability of the oscillation. However, for the typical coronal loops parameters we find that the observed durability periods of the SOT/Hinode observation can be achieved with an out-flow Gaussian patterns for which half-width is not greater than factor 2.0 of the loop-half-width. explain a possible relation between electric current structure and sigmoid observed in a preflare phase.
In this paper a bridge flutter prediction is performed by using advanced numerical simulation. Two novel approaches were developed simultaneously by utilizing the ANSYS v12.1 commercial software package. The first one is a fluid-structure interaction simulation involving the three-dimensional elastic motion of a bridge deck and the fluid flow around it. The second one is an updated forced oscillation technique based on the dynamic mode shapes of the bridge. An aeroelastic wind tunnel model was constructed in order to validate the numerical results. Good agreement between the numerical results and the measurements proves the applicability of the novel methods in bridge flutter assessment.
A computational investigation of the effect of the electromagnetic force(or Lorentz force) on the flow behavior around a circular cylinder, a typical model of bluff bodies, is conducted. Two-dimensional unsteady flow computation for $Re=10^2$ is carried out using a numerical method of finite difference approximation in a curvilinear body-fitted coordinate system by solving the momentum equations including the Lorentz force as a body force. The effect of the spatial variations of the Lorentz forcing region and forcing direction along the cylinder circumference is investigated. The numerical results show that the Lorentz force can effectively suppress the flow separation and oscillation of the lift force of the circular cylinder cross-flow, leading to the reduction of the drag.
A numerical method is presented for the dynamic analysis of cam and follower. Contact and separation between the cam and the follower are analyzed by imposing dynamic contact condition. The correct solution is obtained without spurious oscillation by imposing the velocity and acceleration constraints as well as the displacement constraint on the possible contact point. The constraints are satisfied by iteratively reducing the constraint errors toward zero, and a simple time integration of ordinary differential equation is employed for the solution of the equation of motion. The solution procedure associated with the iterative scheme is presented, and numerical simulations are conducted to demonstrate the accuracy of the solution.
