In order to evaluate the devolatilization models of pulverized coal, various devolatilization models are examined for the numerical analysis of Drop Tube Furnace. The results of analysis are compared with the experimental results. A numerical study was conducted to explore the sensitivities of the predictions to variation of the model parameters. It helps to elucidate the source of the discrepancies. Three different wall temperature conditions of the DTF, 1100, 1300 and $1500^{\circ}C$ were considered in this analysis. Two fuels are U.S.A. Alaska coal and Australia Drayton coal. The results of analysis with constant rate model, single kinetic rate model and two competing rate modes well presented fast volatile matter release in the early devolatilization. However, in the latter devolatilization they did not coincide with experimental results which presented tardy volatile matter release on account of pyrolysis of high molecular substance. On the other hand, the results of analysis with DAEM(Distribute Activation Energy Model) coincided with experiment al results in overall devolatilization.
Refined analysis depicting mass transportation and physicochemical reaction and reasonable computing load with acceptable DOFs are the two major challenges of numerical simulation for concrete durability. Mesoscopic numerical simulation for chloride diffusion considering binder, aggregate and interfacial transition zone is unable to be expended to the full structure due to huge number of DOFs. In this paper, a multiscale approach of combining both mesoscopic model including full-graded aggregate and equivalent macroscopic model was introduced. An equivalent conversion of chloride content at the Interfacial Transition Layer (ITL) connecting both models was considered. Feasibility and relative error were discussed by analytical deduction and numerical simulation. Case study clearly showed that larger analysis model in multiscale model expanded the diffusion space of chloride ion and decreased chloride content in front of rebar. Difference for single-scale simulation and multiscale approach was observed. Finally, this paper addressed some worth-noting conclusions about the chloride distribution and rebar corrosion regarding the configuration of rebar placement, rebar diameter, concrete cover and exposure period.
Although there are many numerical models to simulate fs laser ablation of metals, no model can analyze the ablation phenomena over a wide range of fluence. In this work, a numerical code for simulating the fs laser ablation phenomena of metals has been developed. The two temperature model is employed to predict the ablation rate and the crater shape of metals using phase explosion mechanism in the relatively high fluence regime. Also, the ultrashort thermoelastic model is used for the low fluence regime to account for spallation of the sample by high strain rate. It has been demonstrated that the thermoelastic stress generated within the sample can exceed the yield stress of the material even near the threshold fluence. Numerical computation results are compared with the experiment for Cu and Ni and show good agreement. Discussions are made on the hydrodynamic model considering phase change and hydrodynamic flow.

There is relatively little numerical study on the behavior of eccentrically loaded high strength rectangular concrete-filled steel tubular (CFST) slender beam-columns with large depth-to-thickness ratios, which may undergo local and global buckling. This paper presents a multiscale numerical model for simulating the interaction local and global buckling behavior of high strength thin-walled rectangular CFST slender beam-columns under eccentric loading. The effects of progressive local buckling are taken into account in the mesoscale model based on fiber element formulations. Computational algorithms based on the M$\ddot{u}$ller's method are developed to obtain complete load-deflection responses of CFST slender beam-columns at the macroscale level. Performance indices are proposed to quantify the performance of CFST slender beam-columns. The accuracy of the multiscale numerical model is examined by comparisons of computer solutions with existing experimental results. The numerical model is utilized to investigate the effects of concrete compressive strength, depth-to-thickness ratio, loading eccentricity ratio and column slenderness ratio on the performance indices. The multiscale numerical model is shown to be accurate and efficient for predicting the interaction buckling behavior of high strength thin-walled CFST slender beam-columns.
Numerical simulation model using nesting method and considering topographic features was developed to predict atmospheric environments atmospheric flow temperature and diffusion of air pollutants in Kwangyang bay where having complex areas of point sources Korea. In addition developed simulation model was used tracing of spreading range of pollutants when a gas leaks suddenly from Yeo-cheon industrial complex. by comparing the measured and calculated data on atmospheric flow temperature and diffusion of air pollutants the results showed that this model can be well applied and complicated topography affected the diffusion of air pollutants.
A computationally efficient numerical scheme is presented for the phase-field model of two-phase systems for anisotropic interfacial energy. The scheme is solved by using a nonlinear multigrid method. When the coefficient for the anisotropic interfacial energy is sufficiently high, the interface of the system shows corners or missing crystallographic orientations. Numerical simulations with high and low anisotropic coefficients show excellent agreement with exact equilibrium shapes. We also present spinodal decomposition, which shows the robustness of the pro-posed scheme.

A mixed analytical/numerical method is developed here to solve the low Reynolds number kepsilon turbulence model. In this method the advection-diffusion part is solved numerically, while the source terms are split into two parts: one part is solved analytically and the next is solved numerically.
The behavior of charged particle in dielectrics have a many effects on characteristics of the insulating materials. In this paper, numerical analysis method by hopping model was investigated application of TSC. As the results, there was a difference between characteristics of TSC by dipole polarization. Physical constant of movable ion corresponding to the experimental results was evaluated and also. Numerical calculations of unsaturated TSC and I-V characteristics were carried out by was of hopping model.
This work deals with the numerical modeling of dam-break flow over erodible bed. The mathematical model consists of the shallow water equations, the transport diffusion and the bed morphology change equations. The system is solved by central upwind scheme. The obtained results of the resolution of dam-beak problem is presented in order to show the performance of the numerical scheme. Also a comparison of central upwind and Roe schemes is presented.
