An algorithm is proposed for estimating dynamic displacements of a bridge by using FBG sensors and by superposing some measurable low modes. Modal displacements are obtained from the beam theory and the generalized coordinates are deduced from the strains measured by FBG sensors. By considering flexural and torsional modes occurred in bridges only as flexural modes of a simply supported beam by separating a bridge into multiple girders or parts, the proposed algorithm can be applied to various types of bridges. Guidelines are provided theoretically for determining the number of modes and the number of strain gages to be used. The proposed algorithm has been examined through simulation studies on various types of bridges, laboratory experiments on a model bridge, and field tests on a simple span PC Box girder bridge. Through the simulation study, the effects of the error in the vibration modes and measurement noise on estimating the dynamic displacements are analyzed.

Safety accidents are frequently occurring in day care centers in recent years. The number of types of safety accidents is bumping into, falling, burning, school bus accident, insertion... etc., and the number of children who have died due to such accidents is increasing steadily every year. Therefore, it is urgent to prevent accidents at day care centers. IoT (Internet of Things) is managed by connecting various sensors and related products from the living space to the Internet in order to prevent them from being dangerous. In particular, IoT products can be automatically controlled by smart phones and sensors anytime and anywhere, thus saving energy, time, convenience and prompt accuracy. This paper proposes a research model to prevent and respond to disasters by using SK LoRa communication network and Arduino, which are Internet access networks for building disaster management in schools, kindergartens and day care centers. And various sensors needed for building disaster management express various safety states in the building and suggests a system that can control the residential environment by transmitting and receiving data to smart phone.
The quality of vibration pattern reproduction of elastic structures by the modal expansion method is influenced by the modal expansion method and the sensor placement as well as the accuracy of measured natural modes and the total number of vibration sensors. In this context, this paper presents an improved numerical method for reproducing the vibration patterns by introducing a block-wise modal expansion method (BMEM), together with the genetic algorithm (GA). For a given number of vibration sensors, the sensor positions are determined by an evolutionary optimization using GA and the modal assurance criterion (MAC). Meanwhile, for the proposed block-wise modal expansion, a whole frequency range of interest is divided into several overlapped frequency blocks and the vibration field reproduction is made block by block with different natural modes and different modal participation factors. A hollow cylindrical tank is taken to illustrate the proposed improved modal expansion method. Through the numerical experiments, the proposed method is compared with several conventional methods to justify that the proposed method provides the improved results.

The development of an air data acquisition algorithm has been described in the supersonic flow at the preliminary design stage with pressure data acquisition device composed of major three total pressure sensors and two static pressure sensors which are installed on the surface of a cone type supersonic inlet. Through this algorithm, Mach number, angle of attack and sideslip angle can be very easily derived with simple interpolation algorithm and predefined data tables. The available range of Mach number is 1.6 to 4.0, angle of attack, $-12^{\circ}$ to $12^{\circ}$ and sideslip angle, $-12^{\circ}$ to $12^{\circ}$. In preliminary design stage, the data tables applied to the developed algorithm are constructed with data driven by Taylor Maccoll equation. The present algorithm would be useful to get supersonic flow air data for the various aerial vehicles and their flight tests.

Integral imaging is a promising technology for 3D imaging and display. Many parameters affect the performance of 3D integral imaging systems. Enhanced system performance is acquired by optimization of these system parameters with respect to defined performance metrics. In this paper, we present an approach to optimize the performance of 3D integral imaging system in terms of performance metrics under fixed resource constraints. In this analysis, system parameters such as lens numerical aperture, pitch between image sensors, the number of image sensors, the pixel size, and the number of pixels are determined to optimize performance metrics. Wave optics is utilized to describe the imaging process.
The interfacial area concentration (IAC) is one of the most important parameters in the two-fluid model for two-phase flow analysis. The IAC can be measured by a local conductivity probe method that uses the difference of conductivity between water and air/steam. The number of sensors in the conductivity probe may be differently chosen by considering the flow regime of two-phase flow. The four sensor conductivity probe method predicts the IAC without any assumptions of the bubble shape. The local IAC can be obtained by measuring the three dimensional velocity vector elements at the measuring point, and the directional cosines of the sensors. The five sensor conductivity probe method proposed in this study is based on the four sensor probe method. With the five sensor probe, the local IAC for a given referred measuring area of the probe can be predicted more exactly than the four sensor probe. In this paper, the mathematical approach of the five sensor probe method for measuring the IAC is described, and a numerical simulation is carried out for ideal cap bubbles of which the sizes and locations are determined by a random number generator.

This research aims at the optimal constitution of sensors required to identify the structural shortcoming of roller-coaster. In this research we analyzed the dynamic characteristics of roller-coaster by three dimensional FE modelling, decided on the appropriate location and number of sensors through optimal transducer theory, abstracted the mathematical value of modal features before and after damage on the basis of optimally placed and numbered sensors. and then presented it as a primary information about the basic structure which would be applied to damage estimation. As a target structure, the roller-coater at Seoul Children's Grand Park was chosen and built as a model reduced by one twentieth in size. In order to consider the Kinetics features particular to the roller-coaster structure, we made an exact three-dimensional FE modelling for the model structure by means of Spline function. As for the proper location and number of sensors, it was done by applying EIM and EOT. We also estimated the damage from the combination of strength, flexibility, and model corelation after abstracting the value of modal features. Finally the optimal transducer theory presented here in this research was proved to be valid, and the structural damage was well identified through changes in strength and flexibility. As a result, we were able to present the optimal constitution of sensors needed for the analysis of dynamic characteristics and the development of techniques in dynamic characteristics, which would ultimately contribute to the development of health monitoring for roller-coaster.

Many traditional retailers are losing money due to loss and accidents in managing their carts. Therefore, we intend to solve these problems by installing a raspberry pie with various functions in order to efficiently manage the cart. First, use ultrasonic sensors to measure the distance between the cart and the object, use vibration sensors to vary the number of vibration sensors, change the number of vibrations to the user, and use Beacon to transmit the cart in real time. It also contributes to consumers' spending patterns and revenue generation by identifying consumers' consumption patterns. Problems with lost are also resolved by issuing an audible warning (outside of Mart) if a distance is removed (outside of Mart).
In this paper lead zirconate titanate transducers (PZT) are employed for damage detection of four reinforced concrete (RC) column specimens retrofitted with carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) jackets. A major disadvantage of FRP jacketing in RC members is the inability to inspect visually if the concrete substrate is damaged and in such case to estimate the extent of damage. The parameter measured during uniaxial compression tests at random times for known strain values is the real part of the complex number of the Electromechanical Admittance (Conductance) of the sensors, obtained by a PXI platform. The transducers are placed in specific positions along the height of the columns for detecting the damage in different positions and carrying out conclusions for the variation of the Conductance in relation to the position the failure occurred. The quantification of the damage at the concrete substrate is achieved with the use of the root-mean-square-deviation (RMSD) index, which is evaluated for the corresponding strain values. The experimental results provide evidence that PZT transducers are sensitive to damage detection from an early stage of the experiment and that the use of PZT sensors for monitoring and detecting the damage of FRP-retrofitted reinforced concrete members, by using the Electromechanical Admittance (EMA) approach, can be a highly promising method.

This paper is devoted to proposing a new approach for damage detection of structures. In this technique, the biconjugate gradient method (BCG) is employed. To remedy the noise effects, a new preconditioning algorithm is applied. The proposed preconditioner matrix significantly reduces the condition number of the system. Moreover, based on the characteristics of the damage vector, a new direct search algorithm is employed to increase the efficiency of the suggested damage detection scheme by reducing the number of unknowns. To corroborate the high efficiency and capability of the presented strategy, it is applied for estimating the severity and location of damage in the well-known 31-member and 52-member trusses. For damage detection of these trusses, the time history responses are measured by a limited number of sensors. The results of numerical examples reveal high accuracy and robustness of the proposed method.
