  • Laminar film condensation of a saturated pure vapor in forced flow over a flat plate is analyzed as boundary layer solutions. Similarity solutions for some real fluids are presented as a function of modified Jakob number (C$\_$pι/ ΔΤ/Prh$\_$fg/) with property ratio (No Abstract.see full/text) and Pγ as parameters and compared with approximate solutions which were obtained from energy and momentum equations without convection and inertia terms in liquid flow. Approximate solutions agree well with the similarity solutions when the values of modified Jakob number are less then 0.1 near 1 atmospheric pressure.

  • The Korean Air Force FA-50 aircraft currently operating in the Air Force is using Ultra High Frequency (UHF) frequency communications for navigation communications with ground control stations or other aircraft. The pilot communicates by changing frequency at any time during flight, and performs communication by directly inputting from the Integrated Up-Front Controller installed in the cockpit. The frequency is designated as secret, and the pilot receives the task with the frequency channel number (001~xxx) and finds the frequency of the channel in the list of 4,000 frequency channels and inputs it manually. This reduces the safety and convenience of pilots' operations and exposes them to hazards that may occur especially during night flight missions. In this paper, we propose a function to embed the frequency corresponding to the frequency channel list in IMDC, the aircraft mission computer, and to automatically change the frequency when the pilot only inputs the channel number.

  • Background : Medical records thought to be reflecting the quality of medicine. By this ground, examination of medical records can be served to evaluate, and to improve the quality of medical care. To examine the medical records, we need some standards or checklists which can be used to sort out the problems. Methods: We developed checklists for medical records evaluation. We studied 1,677 medical records about its completeness using this checklists in one educational hospital. Survey was completed by 5 well trained staffs of medical record department. Results are analyzed. SPSS/PC+ program was used for statistics. Results : 13.8% of discharge summary was incomplete. Recording of the demographic information was also poor in incomplete medical records compared to complete ones. Progress note was recorded average 4.16 times during 11.9 hospital days. After 4th hospital day, recording rate of progress note dropped sharply. Rate of professor's signature on operation records was poor(27%). He or she who described the discharge summary well also wrote progress note well. Conclusions: Fill-up of demographic date should be stressed during medical record education program. Strategy to create the environment emphasizing the responsibility of professor on quality medical record should be made. We suggest new index (number of records/hospital stay) for the evaluation of completeness of progress note.

  • Purpose: The treatment effects and operation status of continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) for acute renal failure patients have been investigated. Method: Two expert nurses reviewed the records of 731 patients undergoing CRRT in an intensive care unit of a general hospital from Jan. 2002 to Dec. 2006 with the CRRT assessment sheet and situation sheet developed for this study. Results: The number of patients received CRRT increased from 90 in 2002 to 194 in 2006. The most common indication for CRRT was azotemia (40.0%). Before CRRT treatment, patients were 78.6 ($\pm55.5$) of BUN value and 5.0 ($\pm3.2$) of Cr. value. The standard values of BUN and Cr. were lowered. Compared the survival group with the death group, there were significant differences among the medical departments and the main diagnosis group. Their BUN and creatinine value, APACHE II score, mean blood pressure, and oliguria were significantly different (p<0.05). Conclusion: This survey demonstrates a trend that patients receiving CRRT has been increased. We suggest further studies are needed in some hospitals in order to generalize the results and to find how CRRT treatment affects patient’s survival and death rate.
