  • The extraction of distinct points such as corner points and circular features is a basic procedure in digital photogrammetry and computer vision. This paper describes the extraction of image features from the raw images (gray value images), especially Forstner interest corner points. The mathematical model of the Forstner interest operator as well as the behavior in the presence of noise are investigated. Experiments with real images prove the feasibility of the Forstner interest operator in the field of Digital Photogrammetry.

  • In this paper, we investigate the effects of impulsive noise on the DS/SSMA system using TCM. We obtain the bound on the probability of bit error of the system, considering bothing impulsive noise and Rician fading, which are unavoidable in mobile communication environments. it turns out that we can achieve some coding gain by using TCM under impulsive noise environment. It is observed that the bit error probability is dominated by the background noise variance when the SNR is low and by the tail noise variance when the SNR is high.

  • In this paper an efficient morphologica algorithm for reducing gaussian and impulse noise in gray-scale image is presented. Based on the edge information the input image is partitioned into a flat region and an edge region, then different algorithms are selectively applied to each region. in case of impulse noise, MGR (morphologica grayscale reconstruction) algorithm with directional SE (structuring element) is applied to the flat region. For theedge region opening-closing (closing-opening) is used instead of dialation (erosion), so that the remaining noise around large objects can be removed. In case of gaussian noise, 5*5 OCCO(opening closing closing opening) and 3*3 DMF(directional morphological filter ) are used for the flat region and the edgeregion, respectively. In order to remove discontinuity at the edge boundary, the algorithm uses 3*3 OCCO around the edge region to reconstruct the final image. Experimetnal results have shown that the proposed algorithm achieves a high performance in terms of noise removal, detail preservation, and NMSE.

  • Recently, one of the reason of noise problems is urban planning has little concern about noise. For solving noise problems, strategic action is needed during urban planning. The noise map is one of the solution for concerning about noise in urban planning and EC has been studied the noise map for the strategic purpose since 1970s. The noise map is powerful tool for predicting sound level, calculating exposure population and evaluating the efficiency of the noise reduction plan. In Korea, The noise map is a unfamiliar field. The experience is few for noise-mapping and the noise mapping procedure has not been standardization yet. For activation of noise map, the study about fundamental problems of collecting data md noise-mapping procedure must be need. This paper is for studying on the noise-mapping procedure in Korea and application of noise map.

  • This paper suggests the noise reduction method of the engine cooling fan. The fan noise contribution to the OASPL of engine room was estimated and the noise source was identified for the rotating fan by sound intensity method. And the program for Predicting the noise spectrum of axial flow fan was also developed. The radiated acoustic pressure is expressed in terms of discrete frequency noise Peaks at BPF and its harmonics and the line spectrum at the broad band by the proposed noise generation mechanisms. In this Paper, it Is shown that the comparison of the measured and calculated noise spectra of fan validates the noise predicting program. And this paper presents the characteristics of the fan noise in order to modify the design parameters. Accordingly, the design parameters were determined for the noise reduction of the fan.

  • The welding automation in ship manufacturing process, especially in the sub-assembly line is considered to be a difficult job because the welding part is too huge, various, unstructured for a welding robot to weld fully automatically. The weld orocess at the sub-assembly line for ship manufacturing is to joint the various stiffener on the base panel. In order to realize automatic robot weld in sub-assembly line, robot have to equip with the sensing system to recognize the position of the parts. In this research,we developed a vision system to detect the position of base panle for sub-assembly line is shipbuilding process. The vision system is composed of one CCD camera attached on the base of robot, 2-500W halogen lamps for active illumination. In the image processing algorithm, the base panel is represented by two set of lines located at its two corner through hough transform. However, the various noise line caused by highlight, scratches and stiffener, roller in conveyor, and so on is contained in the captured image, this nosie can be eliminated by region segmentation and threshold in hough transform domain. The matching process to recognize the position of weld panel is executed by finding patterns in the Hough transformed domain. The sets of experiments performed in the sub-assembly line show the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

  • In this paper, Constrained One-Bit Transform (C1BT) based motion estimation using extension of matching error criterion is proposed. C1BT based motion estimation algorithm exploiting Number of Non-Matching Points (NNMP) instead of Sum of Absolute Differences (SAD) that used in the Full Search Algorithm (FSA) facilitates hardware implementation and significantly reduces computational complexity. However, the accuracy of motion estimation is decreased. To improve inaccurate motion estimation, this algorithm based motion estimation extending matching error criterion of C1BT is proposed in this paper. Experimental results show that proposed algorithm has better performance compared with the conventional algorithm in terms of Peak-Signal-to-Noise-Ratio (PSNR).

  • A design of 2 stage S-DLVA(successive detector log video amplifier) was studied to detect wide dynamic radar pulse ranging from -70 ㏈m to 0㏈m. A basic design idea was focused on the linear detection in logarithmic scale of wide dynamic range radar pulses from nosie-like weak power of -70 ㏈m to relatively high power 0 ㏈m. It is highly formidable, since it requires high speed detection less than 10 nsec over the operating frequency ranges from 6 to 18 ㎓. A limiter diode, a tunnel diode and an L17-C were used as a protecting device, a detector diode and a log video amplifier in companion as a single stage detector to give voltage output proportional to the input power of about 35 ㏈ dynamic range. A protype of 2-stage DLVA having one more single stage detector was fabricated with a 32 ㏈ low noise amplifier and a 3 ㏈ hybrid coupler to provide total 70 ㏈ dynamic range detection. The logging characteristics were measured to have log slope of 25m.V/㏈ against 70 ㏈ logging range from -55 ㏈m to +15 ㏈m, the log linearity of within +/- 1.5 ㏈, and tangential sensitivity was at -63 ㏈m. The pulse dynamics of rise time and recovery time were measured as 50 nsec and 1.2 $\mu$sec, respectively. The reason might be due to the parasitic capacitances of packaged limiter, tunnel diode, and L17-C.

  • Objective: This study aimed to investigate the effect of white noise on dynamic balance in patients with stroke during walking. Method: Nineteen patients with chronic stroke (age: 61.2±9.8 years, height: 164.4±7.4 cm, weight: 61.1±9.4 kg, paretic side (R/L): 11/8, duration: 11.6±4.9 years) were included as study participants. Auditory stimulus used white noise, and all participants listened for 40 minutes mixing six types of natural sounds with random sounds. The dynamic balancing ability was evaluated while all participants walked before and after listening to white noise. The variables were the center of pressure (CoP), the center of mass (CoM), CoP-CoM inclined angle. Results: There is a significant increase in the antero-posterior (A-P) CoP range, A-P inclination angle, and gait speed on the paretic and non-paretic sides following white noise intervention (p<.05). Conclusion: Our findings confirmed the positive effect of using white noise as auditory stimulus through a more objective and quantitative assessment using CoP-CoM inclination angle as an evaluation indicator for assessing dynamic balance in patients with chronic stroke. The A-P and M-L inclination angle can be employed as a useful indicator for evaluating other exercise programs and intervention methods for functional enhancement of patients with chronic stroke in terms of their effects on dynamic balance and effectiveness.
