  • For the purpose of investigating the growth characteristics and composition of nitrides, gas nitridings of the austenitic stainless steel, STR 36 heat resisting steel and martensitic stainless steel are investigated at the temperature ranges between $500^{\circ}C$ and $675^{\circ}C$ for 5hours under the $75%NH_3+5%CO_2+20%$Air gas atmosphere. When gas nitriding the austentic stainless steel and STR 36 heat resisting alloy, the abnormal growth behavior of compound layer deviating from the conventional diffusion law with increasing temperature appears, while the compound layer of martensitic stainless steel shows the normal diffusional growth behavior. From the examination of microstructure, X-ray diffraction and hardness test, it is concluded that the abnormal growth behavior of compound layer with increasing temperature induces from the formation and dissolution of CrN and ${\gamma}^{\prime}-Fe_4N$ at the nitriding temperature ranges of $600{\sim}650^{\circ}C$.

  • The hematology and clinical chemistry data based on the well defined normal data are essential in the safety assessment. It is important that normal values of cliniclal pathology parameters would be optimized to be accurate. So the purpose of this experiment was to compare the ranges of normal data in hematology value and serum chemistry between both sexes of F344 and Wistar rats at 5, 10, 20, 40 and 90 weeks. of age. The neutrophils eosinophils and monocytes increased with age in male Wistar rats. And serum total bilirubin and potassium were highest and alkaline phosphatase was lowest at 90 weeks in Wistar rats. As compared with Wistar rat the serum aspartate aminotransferase of F344 rats increased with age in both sexes but inorganic phosphorus decreased with age. The serum alkaline phosphatase decreased with age and potassium was highest at 90weeks. These normal data would be useful in improving the accuracy of clinical pathology value in the safety assessment.

  • Present experiment was performed to establish the optimal reaction conditions for measurement of urinary gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase(${\gamma}$-GTP), N-acetyl-${\beta}$-D-glucosaminidase (AGS) and alanine aminopeptidase(AAP) activities in bovine and to investigate in vitro stability of the enzymes, within-run imprecision of the methods, and normal ranges. 1. The optimal wavelength for measurement of ${\gamma}$-GTP activity was 545nm. 2. The optimal pH of Tris-HCI buffer containing glycylglycine for measurement of urinary ${\gamma}$-GTP activity was 7.6~7.8(37$^{\circ}C$). 3. Coefficient of variance for within-run imprecision of urinary ${\gamma}$-GTP activity ranged from 4.8 to 7.2% and there was no significant difference among replications, 4. The optimal wavelength for measurement of urinary AGS activity was 405nm. 5. The optimal pH of citrate buffer for measurement urinary of AGS activity was 4.0(37$^{\circ}C$). 6. Coefficient of variance for within-run imprecision of urinary AGS activity ranged from 3.9 to 6.1% and there was no significant difference among replications. 7. The optimal wavelength for measurement of urinary AAP activity was 400nm. 8. The optimal pH of phosphate buffer for measurement of urinary AAP was 7.8. 9. Coefficient of variance for within-run imprecision of urinary AAP activity ranged from 2.5 to 4.8% and there was no significant difference among replications. 10. ${\gamma}$-GTP and AGS activities were increased significantly by gel-filtration. 11. Turbidity interfered with measurement of urinary AAP activity in bovine unless the specimen was gel-filterated. 12. Preservation of the specimen at 5$^{\circ}C$ or -20$^{\circ}C$ did not affect the AGS activity at least for 7 days after collection. 13. Preservation of the specimen at 5$^{\circ}C$ or 20$^{\circ}C$ did not affect the ${\gamma}$-GTP and AAP activities statistically, but some individual specimens revealed fluctuation during preservation. 14. ${\gamma}$-GTP, AGS and AAP activities revealed fluctuation by the tine of the day when the specimen was collected. 15. The normal ranges of urinary ${\gamma}$ -GTP, AGS and AAP activities were 6.60${\pm}$3.26(2.36-14.50), 1.31 ${\pm}$ 0.81(0.33-3.78), and 1.73 ${\pm}$ 0.55(0.77-3.03)U/l. respectively.

  • Demand for the fabric wipes is growing continuously. Wipes in industry are used for cleaning purpose. Cleaning involves rubbing action, so it is very important to know how much frictional force is encountered during the cleaning action. In this study the effects of normal load, sliding speed on frictional characteristics of nonwoven and woven wipes, both dry and wetted with different liquids, against glass and floor tile surfaces have been reported. With the increase in the normal load the coefficient of friction goes on decreasing for both nonwoven and woven wipes and this trend is observed in both dry and wet wipes. The coefficient of friction of both nonwoven and woven wipes against glass surface is in general higher than the floor tile surface. The wipes wetted with water shows an increase in coefficient of friction as compared to dry sample, but there is reduction in the coefficient of friction when the wipe samples are wetted with vegetable oil. In case of dry wipes, the coefficient of friction in case of nonwoven wipe is higher than the woven wipe. In case of woven wipes, the ranges of coefficient of friction either due to change in liquid type, normal load or sliding speed are in general smaller than that in case of nonwoven fabrics.

  • The 250ppm hydrogen-charged Zircaloy-4 sheets, homogenized at $400^{\circ}C$ for 72hrs in vacuum, were corroded under the autoclave conditions of $350^{\circ}C$, 2350psi. The corrosion behavior of the Zircaloy-4 sheets was evaluated by measuring their weight gains with the exposure time. The electrical characteristics were investigated in the ranges of 5000~1x10\ulcornerHz using AC impedance technique in 1N $H_2$$SO_4$aqueous solution. The corrosion rate of the hydrogen charged specimen was more rapid than the normal specimen at the early stage of the corrosion. With a longer corrosion time, however, the normal specimen corroded faster than the hydrogen-charged specimen. At the same time the hydrogen pickup in the hydrogen-charged specimen was more suppressed compared with the normal specimen. Such appears to be occurred because the impedance for the movement of the hydrogen ion into the metal was higher in the hydrogen-charged specimen compared to normal specimen at the interface between the oxide layer and the uncorroded metal. Thus the corrosion rate of the hydrogen-charged specimen was likely to be decreased with a longer corrosion time.

  • In this paper, the power flow analysis(PFA) method is applied to the prediction of the vibrational energy density and intensity of coupled co-planar plates. To cover the energy transmission and reflection at the joint of the plates, the wave transmission approach is introduced with the assumption that all the incident waves are normal to the joint. By changing the frequency ranges and internal loss factors, we have obtained the PFA results, and compared them with the analytical exact solutions.

  • In [13], Ptak and Vrbova proved that if T is a bounded normal operator T on a complex Hilbert space H, then the ranges of the spectral projections can be represented in the form $$ \varepsilon(F)H = \bigcap_{\lambda\notinF} (T - \lambda I) H for all closed subsets F of C, $$ where $\varepsilon$ denotes the spectral measure associated with T.

  • The purpose of this study was to estimate primary diagnosis, prediction of prognosis and recognition fo treatment progress for treatment of TMD patients through measuring the various ranges of mandibular movement in normal and TMDs patients using Mandibular Kinesiograph K-6 Diagnostic system. In normal groups, 20 adults were selected, who have normal or class I molar relationship, and have no symptoms on TMJ and masticatory muscles, and have restorations less than 3 surfaces on each tooth, and have no other prosthetic restoration. In Patients group, we selected 31 outpatients who were confirmed to TMDs with clinical examination and radiographic findings. The obtained results were as follows : 1. In maximal opening, patient group was showed the limitation of vertical movement range (P<0.01) and lager lateral deviation than in normal group (P<0.05). And actual dimensional displacement of opening was calculated larger in normal group (P<0.05). 2. In protrusive movement, patients group was showed the limitation of anteroposterior movement range (P<0.001) and larger deviation than in normal group (P<0.01). And actual 3 dimensional displacement of protrusion was calculated larger in normal group (P<0.001). 3. In lateral maximum excursion, compared with normal group patient group was no significant differences to affected side, but was showed the limitation of lateral movement to unaffected side (P<0.001). 4. There was no significant difference in movement velocity of opening and closing in both groups. 5. Mandibular movement from physiologic rest position to centric occlusion was moved more anteroposteriorly in patient group. 6. Mandibular movement from centric relation to centric occlusion was no significant difference in both groups.
