An Experimental Study on The Improvement of Pattern Replication and Birefringence in LGP by Adding Compression Effects (압축효과를 가미한 도광판의 전사성과 복굴절 향상에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • It is necessary to improve the pattern replication and birefringence in LGP(Light guide panel) for better optical performance. In the present paper, the effects of injection-compression and injection-press mode with normal injection mold on the distribution of transcription of pattern and birefringence were studied. It was found that the values of pattern replication was improved and the birefringence was reduced for the cases of low initial clamping force in injection-compression mode and for the cases of longer mold opening length in injection-press mode, repectively.

  • In this thesis, we present efficient techniques to reduce the switching activity in a CMOS combinational logic network based on local logic transforms. But this techniques is not appropriate in the view of testability because of deteriorating the random pattern testability of a circuit. This thesis proposes a circuit design method having two operation modes. For the sake of power dissipation(normal operation mode), a gate output switches as rarely as possible, implying highly skewed signal probabilities for 1 or 0. On the other hand, at test mode, signals have probabilities of being 1 or 0 approaching 0.5, so it is possible to exact both stuck-at faults on the wire. Therefore, the goals of synthesis for low power and random pattern testability are achieved. The hardware overhead sof proposed design method are only one primary input for mode selection and AND/OR gate for each redundant connection.

Discrete-Time Sliding Mode Control with SIIM Fuzzy Adaptive Switching Gain

  • This paper focuses on discrete-time sliding mode control with SIIM fuzzy adaptive switching gain. The adaptive switching gain is calculated using the simplified indirect inference fuzzy logic. Two fuzzy inputs are the normal distance from the present state trajectory to the switching function and the distance from the present state trajectory to the equilibrium state. The fuzzy output $f_{out}$(k) out f k is used to adjust the speed the adaptation law depending on the location of the state trajectory. The simulation results showed that the proposed method had no chattering in case of uncertain parameter without disturbance. Moreover the convergent rate of the switching gain was faster and more stable even in case of disturbance.

  • A 1-chip high quality binarizing VLSI image processor (which has 8 bit ADC. 6 bit flash ADC, 15K standard cell, and 1K word ROM) based on 10 MIPS 16 bit DSP is implemented for FAX. This image processor(IP) performs image pre-processing. image quality improvement in copying and sending mode, and mixed image processing based on the fuzzy theory. And smoothing in sub-scan direction is applied for normal receiving mode data so the received data is enhanced like fine mode data. Each algorithm is processed with the same type of image processing window and 2-D image processing is implemented with a 1-D line buffer. The fabricated chip is applied to a FAX machine and image quality improvement is verified.

  • We introduce a scheme with a maximized efficiency of detecting atoms passing through an optical standing-wave mode cavity. Consider a standing-wave optical cavity illuminated by a weak probe beam through one of its mirrors where the transmission through the other mirror is monitored by a photodetector. If an atom is put in the cavity, the atom-cavity coupling shifts the resonance frequency of the system via the so-called normal mode splitting, and thereby the transmission power will drop. In fact, this type of atom detection scheme has been used in recent single atom trap experiments In practice, however, the field in a standing-wave mode will have a geometrical structure having nodes and antinodes that when the atom traverses the cavity through one of the nodes, there will be no such effect of atom-field interaction.   • The electromagnetic wave scattering from active objects has only recently attracted attention.$^{(1).(3)}$ Theoretical studies have considered normal-incidence plane-wave interactions with active dielectric cylinders with the prediction of large enhancements in the scattered field for bound mode structures. According to the theory of the electromagnetic wave scattering from a dielectric cylinder, the eigenvector solutions are discrete and have both guided (non-radiative) and leaky (radiative) mode solutions. By using an anti-guiding (leaky) structure instead of a guided structure and scattering at oblique incident angles near critical angle, the scattering resonances predicted by theoretical studies were obtained for the first time. A fine-grained scan of the plane-wave incident angle a reveals the existence of discrete scattering resonances. The diameter and real part of the index of refraction determine the resonant conditions and the imaginary part of the refractive index has a threshold value to make mode up for its radiation loss. The cross coupling between transverse electric (TE) and transverse magnetic (TM) modes is clearly detected for both active and passive scattering as theoretically expected. (omitted)

  • We consider a single-input-single-output nonlinear system which can be represented in a normal form. The nonlinear system has a modeling uncertainties including the input coefficient uncertainties. A high-gain observer is used to estimate the states variables to reject a modeling uncertainty. A globally bounded output feedback integral sliding mode control is proposed to stabilize the closed loop system. The proposed integral sliding mode control can asymptotically stabilize the closed loop system in the it presence of input coefficient uncertainty.

  • Various modeling techniques for ultrasonic wave propagation and scattering problems in finite solid media are presented. Elastodynamic boundary value problems in inhomogeneous multi-layered plate-like structures are set up for modal analysis of guided wave propagation and numerically solved to obtain dispersion curves which show propagation characteristics of guided waves. As a powerful modeling tool to overcome such numerical difficulties in wave scattering problems as the geometrical complexity and mode conversion, the Boundary Element Method(BEM) is introduced and is combined with the normal mode expansion technique to develop the hybrid BEM, an efficient technique for modeling multi-mode conversion of guided wave scattering problems.

  • We have performed computer simulation to obtain electro-optic chracteristics of reflective liquid crystal display (LCD) using wide viewing angle LC mode, fringe field switching(FFS). Unlike other reflective LCD modes, in the FFS mode, the LC director in plance so an application to reflective display consisted of polarizer, LC layer and reflector is possible. when an incident light is 550mm, the optimal cell retardation value is 0.1365${\mu}$m and the efficiency of reflectivity is high over 90% with very little wavelength dispersion. Further, we have studied a new reflective display with polarizer, optical compensation film with half plate, LC plus reflector. The display with optimized cell parameters shows high contrast ratio (CR) over 130 with high light efficiency over 90% at normal direction and the CR greater than 5 exists over 60$^{\circ}$ of polar angle in all directions.

Robust Trajectory Tracking Control of a Mecanum Wheeled Mobile Robot Using Impedance Control and Integral Sliding Mode Control (임피던스 제어와 적분 슬라이딩 모드 제어를 이용한 메카넘 휠 이동로봇의 강인한 궤도 추적 제어)

  • Unlike normal wheels, the Mecanum wheel enables omni-directional movement regardless of the orientation of a mobile robot. In this paper, a robust trajectory tracking control method is developed based on the dynamic model of the Mecanum wheel mobile robot in order that the mobile robot can move along the given path in the environment with disturbance. The method is designed using the impedance control to make the mobile robot to track the path, and the integral sliding mode control for robustness to disturbance. The good performance of the proposed method is verified using the MATLAB /Simulink simulation and also through the experiment on an actual Mecanum wheel mobile robot. In both the simulation and the experimentation, we make the mobile robot move along a reference trajectory while maintaining the robot's orientation at a constant angle to see the characteristics of the Mecanum wheel.
