  • Proto-type seismic isolation rubber bearings are investigated through nonlinear hyperelasticity finite elements using the ANSYS general purpose structural analysis code. The purpose of the analysis was to determine the maximum horizontal strain range which can be obtained with a 250KN hydraulic actuator. A Mooney-Rivlin strain energy density function was used as a constitutive law for rubber. The results are compared with the test data available in the literature and found to in good agreement only in the higy strain range. The analysis results can be used with conservatism to predict the necessary force required to a specified displacement such as the purpose of this analysis. However, more precise constitutive model will be required to simulate the bearing behavior with accuracy in the mid-range strain.

  • This paper adresses the shaking table tests with 1/100 scaled model followed similitude law for OOdam main designing section to understand nonlinear behavior characteristics of concrete dam body by ground motion. As earthquake wave, Hachinohe and El Centre waves were used and acceleration and displacements are measured to analyze behaviors of dam body. For maximum ground acceleration range $(0.3\~0.9 g)$, the results showed linear behavior regardless of maximum 9round acceleration and secured safety of structure. To analyze the behavior of dam after tension cracking, 3 cm-notch was placed at the critical section of over-flowing section. As results of applying Hachinohe wave(0.8 g), Even though tension cracks were formed at over-flowing section by Hachinohe wave(0.8 g), it showed that the dam is stable for supporting upper stream Part of water tank of dam.

  • The seismic isolation technology has appeared to be increasingly necessary for highway brides LNG tank nuclear power plant and building structures in view of recent frequent earthquake vibrations in Korea. Also high-technology industries required effective seismic protection. The LRB(Lead Rubber Bearing) systen has been counted as the most effective way for seismic isolation which is now under development and widely used in industries. Hear the commercial FEM software for nonlinear analysis MARC has provided force-displacement curves on the rubber system. The analysis has been carried out about four cases ; 29.5mm and 59mm horizontal dislacements with/without a center hole. The unknown constants of the strain energy function of Ogden model have been obtained by a tension test,

  • In this paper, we address issues associated with mixed-lingual text-to-speech based on context-dependent HMMs, where there are multiple sets of HMMs corresponding to each individual language. In particular, we propose smoothing techniques of synthesis parameters at the boundaries between different languages to obtain more natural quality of speech. In other words, mel-frequency cepstral coefficients (MFCCs) at the language boundaries are smoothed by applying several linear and nonlinear approximation techniques. It is shown from an informal listening test that synthesized speech smoothed by a modified version of linear least square approximation (MLLSA) and a quadratic interpolation (QI) method is preferred than that without using any smoothing technique.

  • This paper presents human-in-the-loop evaluations of vehicle stability control(VSC) system using a driving simulator. A driving simulator which contains full vehicle nonlinear model is evaluated by using actual vehicle test data on the same driving conditions. Braking control inputs for Vehicle Stability Control system have been directly derived from the sliding control law based on vehicle planar motion equations with differential braking. Closed-loop simulation results at realistic driving situations have shown that the proposed controller reduces driving effort of a driver and enhances stability of a vehicle.

  • The modified maximum likelihood estimation method is used to estimate the nondimensional aerodynamic derivatives of a single turbo-prop aircraft at a specified flight condition for the best deduction of the dynamic characteristics. In wind axes the six degree of freedom equations are algebraically linearized so that the linear state equation contains aerodynamic derivatives in a state-space form and is used in the maximum likelihood method. The simulated data added with the measurement noise is used as a flight test data which is necessary to the estimation of nondimensional aerodynamic derivatives. It is obtained by implementing the 6-DOF nonlinear flight simulation. In the flight simulation, the effects of several control input types, control deflection amplitudes, and the turbulence intensities on the statistical convergence criteria are also examined and quantitative analysis of the results is discussed.

  • Modelling and analysis of a brick masonry building involves uncertainties like modelling assumptions and properties of local material. Therefore, it is necessary to perform a calibration to evaluate the dynamic properties of the structure. The response of the finite element model is improved by predicting the parameter by performing linear dynamic analysis on experimental data by comparing the acceleration. Further, a nonlinear dynamic analysis was also performed comparing the roof acceleration and damage pattern of the structure obtained analytically with the test findings. The roof accelerations obtained analytically were in good agreement with experimental roof accelerations. The damage patterns observed analytically after every shock were almost similar to that of experimental observations. Damage pattern with amplification in roof acceleration exhibit the potentiality of earthquake resistant measures in brick masonry models.

  • A real-time HVAC system is proposed which implements real-time control of thermal environment for virtual reality. It consists of a pair of hot and cold loops that serve as thermal reservoirs, and a mixing box to mix hot and cold air streams flowing if from loops. Their flow rates are controlled in real-time to meet a set temperature and flow rate. A cascade control algorithm along with gain scheduling is applied to the system and test results shows that the closed-loop response approached set values within 3 to 4 seconds.

  • In this paper, Self-Oscillating Mixer is designed by oscillator that was based on a general nonlinear input-output model for the subharmonic injection locked oscillator is analysed. We have designed and fabricated the Self-Oscillating Mixer for 5GHz by proposed subharmonic injection locked oscillator based frequency synthesizer structure that have characteristic of good frequency sensitivity, good phase noise. The design strategy leading to an optimized SILO with regards to its locking range is described and a test SOM circuit is demonstrated a 4dB conversion gain at 280MHz IF frequency from the carrier.

First, numerical analysis was performed three-dimensional nonlinear method by numerical model test using finite element analysis program "Visual FEA". Then, measure displacement of the surface of the earth after construct each anchor block at 14M electric pole and increase loads through field verification tests for safety evaluation.
