This paper provides an insight into the response of non-seismic reinforced concrete (RC) building frames to excitations of different frequencies through experimental investigation. The results of cyclic loading tests of six full-scale RC beam-column sub-assemblies are presented. The tested specimens did not have any transverse reinforcement inside the joint core, and they were subjected to quasi-static and dynamic loading with frequencies as high as 20 Hz. Some important differences between the cyclic responses of non-seismic and ductile RC frames are highlighted. The effect of excitation frequency on the behavior of non-seismic joints is also discussed. In the quasi-static tests, shear deformation of the joint panel accounted for more than 50% of the applied story drift. The test results also showed that higher-frequency excitations are less detrimental than quasi-static cyclic loads, and non-seismic frames can withstand a higher load and a larger deformation when they are applied faster.

The past bridge design specifications of Korea didn't include 1imitation on the amount of lap splices in the plastic hinge zone of piers, and so do current specifications. But these specifications include just limitation on the minimal length of lap splices. Thus, a large majority of non-seismically designed bridge piers may have lap splices in plastic hinge zone. In this study, model pier was selected among existent bridge piers whose failure mode is complex shear-flexure mode. Full scaled RC pier models whose aspect ratio is about 2.67 were constructed and quasi static test according to the drift level history was implemented. From the test results, effect of the lap splices on the seismic performance of bridges piers was analyzed, and the seismic capacity of the model bridges was evaluated by capacity spectrum method.

In this study, to maximize RF performance of MOSFETs, $f_T$ and $f_{max}$ dependent data on $W_u$ are measured and newly analyzed by extracting small-signal model parameters. From the physical analysis results, it is found that a peak value of $f_T$ is generated by $W_u$-independent parasitic gate-bulk capacitance at narrow $W_u$ and the wide width effect of reducing the increasing rate of transconductance at wide $W_u$. In addition, it is revealed that a maximum value of $f_{max}$ is caused by the non-quasi-static effect that the gate resistance is greatly reduced at narrow $W_u$ and becomes constant at wide $W_u$.

The object of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing RC bridge piers that were constructed before the adoption of the seismic design provision of Korea Bridge Design Specification in 1992. In this research, adopted test parameters were limited ductile design or non-seismic design, aspect ratio, confinement steel type, loading pattern, lap-spliced ratio for longitudinal reinforcement. This study has been performed to verify the effect of test parameter by quasi-static test. Quasi-static test has been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as lateral force-displacement hysteretic curve, envelope curve etc. It has been observed that seismic performance of lap-spliced test specimen, non-seismically designed specimens, was significantly reduced.
As a brittle and heterogeneous material, concrete behaves differently under different stress conditions and its bulk strength is loading rate dependent. To a large extent, the varying behavioural properties of concrete can be explained by the mechanical failure processes at a mesoscopic level. The development of a computational mesoscale model in a general finite element environment, as presented in the preceding companion paper (Part 1), makes it possible to investigate into the underlying mechanisms governing the bulk-scale behaviour of concrete under a variety of loading conditions and to characterise the variation in quantitative terms. In this paper, we first present a series of parametric studies on the behaviour of concrete material under quasi-static compression and tension conditions. The loading-face friction effect, the possible influences of the non-homogeneity within the mortar and ITZ phases, and the effect of randomness of coarse aggregates are examined. The mesoscale model is then applied to analyze the dynamic behaviour of concrete under high rate loading conditions. The potential contribution of the mesoscopic heterogeneity towards the generally recognized rate enhancement of the material compressive strength is discussed.

The object of this research is to evaluate the seismic performance of existing circular reinforced concrete bridge piers by the Quasi-static test. Existing reinforced concrete bridge piers, which were non-seismical]y designed in accordance with the conventional provisions of Korea Highway Design Specification, are needed to rating evaluate seismic performance fur probable earthquake motions in future by developing a seismic analysis computer program with estimation algorithm. This study has been performed to verify the effect of lap spliced longitudinal steel, confinement steel type and confinement steel ratio for the seismic behavior of reinforced concrete bridge piers. Quasi-static test has been done to investigate the physical seismic performance of RC bridge piers, such as displacement ductility, energy absorption, strength degradation etc.

In this paper, it was firstly confirmed that the drain current of the depleted SOI MOSFET operated in the high frequency response delay occurs by the inductive parasitic. Depleted SOI MOSFET cannot be applied as a conventional high-frequency MOSFET model because the response delay of the drain current is generated in accordance with the drain voltage fluctuation. This response delay may be described as a non-quasi-static effect, and the SOI MOSFET generated the response delay by the inductive parasitics compared to typical MOSFET. It is confirmed that depleted SOI MOSFET's RF characteristics can be well reproduced with the proposed method including the drain current response delay.
The vertical reinforcement connection between the precast reinforced concrete shear wall and the cast-in-place reinforced concrete member is vital to the performance of shear walls under seismic loading. This paper investigated the structural behavior of three precast reinforced concrete shear walls, with different levels of connection (i.e., full connection, partial connection, and no connection), subjected to quasi-static lateral loading. The specimens were subjected to a constant vertical load, resulting in an axial load ratio of 0.4. The crack pattern, failure modes, load-displacement relationships, ductility, and energy dissipation characteristics are presented and discussed. The resultant seismic performances of the three tested specimens were compared in terms of skeleton curve, load-bearing capacity, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation capacity, and viscous damping. The seismic performance of the partially connected shear wall was found to be comparable to that of the fully connected shear wall, exhibiting 1.7% and 3.5% higher yield and peak load capacities, 9.2% higher deformability, and similar variation in stiffness, energy dissipation capacity and viscous damping at increasing load levels. In comparison, the seismic performance of the non-connected shear wall was inferior, exhibiting 12.8% and 16.4% lower loads at the yield and peak load stages, 3.6% lower deformability, and significantly lower energy dissipation capacity at lower displacement and lower viscous damping.

This paper focuses on the finite element (FE) response sensitivity and reliability analyses considering smooth constitutive material models. A reinforced concrete frame is modeled for FE sensitivity analysis followed by direct differentiation method under both static and dynamic load cases. Later, the reliability analysis is performed to predict the seismic behavior of the frame. Displacement sensitivity discontinuities are observed along the pseudo-time axis using non-smooth concrete and reinforcing steel model under quasi-static loading. However, the smooth materials show continuity in response sensitivity at elastic to plastic transition points. The normalized sensitivity results are also used to measure the relative importance of the material parameters on the structural responses. In FE reliability analysis, the influence of smoothness behavior of reinforcing steel is carefully noticed. More efficient and reasonable reliability estimation can be achieved by using smooth material model compare with bilinear material constitutive model.

From the analysis results of some as-built drawings in national roadway bridges in Korea, many bridge piers are expected to show complex shear-flexural behaviour under earthquakes. But the previous research works about the seismic evaluation of bridges considered flexural behaviour RC piers only. In addition, the past bridge design specifications in Korea didn't include limitation on the amount of longitudinal lap splices in the plastic hinge zone of piers. Thus a large majority of non-seismically designed bridge piers in Korea may have lap splices in plastic hinge zone. In this study, prototype pier was selected among existent bridge piers whose failure mode is expected to be complex shear-flexural mode. And then, full scale and 1/2 reduced scale model RC piers with various longitudinal lap splice details were constructed. From the quasi static test results on these model RC piers, the effect of longitudinal lap splices on the seismic performance of bridges piers was analyzed. And the seismic capacity of the non-seismically designed shear-flexural RC piers was evaluated.
