Automatic lineament extraction algorithms had been developed by various researches for geological purpose using remotely sensed data. However, most of them are designed for a certain topographic model, for instance rugged mountainous region or flat basin. Most of common topographic characteristic in Korea is a mountainous region along with alluvial plain, and consequently it is difficult to apply previous algorithms directly to this area. A new algorithm of automatic lineament extraction from remotely sensed images is developed in this study specifically for geological applications. An algorithm, named as DSTA(Dynamic Segment Tracing Algorithm), is developed to produce binary image composed of linear component and non-linear component. The proposed algorithm effectively reduces the look direction bias associated with sun's azimuth angle and the noise in the low contrast region by utilizing a dynamic sub window. This algorithm can successfully accomodate lineaments in the alluvial plain as well as mountainous region. Two additional algorithms for estimating the individual lineament vector, named as ALEHHT(Automatic Lineament Extraction by Hierarchical Hough Transform) and ALEGHT(Automatic Lineament Extraction by Generalized Hough Transform) which are merging operation steps through the Hierarchical Hough transform and Generalized Hough transform respectively, are also developed to generate geological lineaments. The merging operation proposed in this study is consisted of three parameters: the angle between two lines($\delta$$\beta$), the perpendicular distance($(d_ij)$), and the distance between midpoints of lines(dn). The test result of the developed algorithm using Landsat TM image demonstrates that lineaments in alluvial plain as well as in rugged mountain is extremely well extracted. Even the lineaments parallel to sun's azimuth angle are also well detected by this approach. Further study is, however, required to accommodate the effect of quantization interval(droh) parameter in ALEGHT for optimization.

Tunnels have become an indispensable part of metro cities. Blast resistance design of tunnel has attracted the attention of researchers due to numerous implosion event. Present paper deals with the non-linear finite element analysis of rock tunnel having shear zone subjected to internal blast loading. Abaqus Explicit schemes in finite element has been used for the simulation of internal blast event. Structural discontinuity i.e., shear zone has been assumed passing the tunnel cross-section in the vertical direction and consist of Highly Weathered Granite medium surrounding the tunnel. Mohr-Coulomb constitutive material model has been considered for modelling the Highly Weathered Granite and the shear zone material. Concrete Damage Plasticity (CDP), Johnson-Cook (J-C), Jones-Wilkins-Lee (JWL) equation of state models are used for concrete, steel reinforcement and Trinitrotoluene (TNT) simulation respectively. The Coupled-Eulerian-Lagrangian (CEL) method of modelling for TNT explosive and air inside the tunnel has been adopted in this study. The CEL method incorporates the large deformations for which the traditional finite element analysis cannot be used. Shear zone orientations of 0°, 15°, 30°, 45°, 60°, 75° and 90°, with respect to the tunnel axis are considered to see their effect. It has been concluded that 60° orientation of shear zone presents the most critical situation.

In this Paper, we present a non-doglegging channel routing system for If layout using standard cells. This system produces a final two-layer wiring pattern in the horizontal track between two rows, each of which is a linear placement of standard cells of identical heights, satisfying the given net list specification. The layout of CMOS cell library Including nine primitive cells used in this paper is represented in CIF (Caltech Intermediate Form) using λ(Lambda) of 2 microns in Mead-Conway layout representation scheme. The cell dimension and 1/0 characteristics such as name, position and layer type of the pins are stored in Component Library to be used in the channel routing progranl, CROUT. 4 subprogram, NET-PLOT, was used to report a schemdtic layout result, and another subprogram, NETCIF was used to with a full-fledged final layout representation in GIF, A test run for realizing a dynamicmaster-slave D flip-flop with set/reset using primitive cells was shown to take 4 CPU seconds on VAX 11/780.

Gas turbines operating in dusty or sandy environment polluted with micron-sized solid particles are highly prone to blade surface erosion damage in compressor stages and molten sand attack in the hot-sections of turbine stages. Commercial/Military fixed-wing aircraft engines and helicopter engines often have to operate over sandy terrains in the middle eastern countries or in volcanic zones; on the other hand gas turbines in marine applications are subjected to salt spray, while the coal-burning industrial power generation turbines are subjected to fly-ash. The presence of solid particles in the working fluid medium has an adverse effect on the durability of these engines as well as performance. Typical turbine blade damages include blade coating wear, sand glazing, Calcia-Magnesia-Alumina-Silicate (CMAS) attack, oxidation, plugged cooling holes, all of which can cause rapid performance deterioration including loss of aircraft. The focus of this research work is to simulate particle-surface kinetic interaction on typical turbomachinery material targets using non-linear dynamic impact analysis. The objective of this research is to understand the interfacial kinetic behaviors that can provide insights into the physics of particle interactions and to enable leap ahead technologies in material choices and to develop sand-phobic thermal barrier coatings for turbine blades. This paper outlines the research efforts at the U.S Army Research Laboratory to come up with novel turbine blade multifunctional protective coatings that are sand-phobic, sand impact wear resistant, as well as have very low thermal conductivity for improved performance of future gas turbine engines. The research scope includes development of protective coatings for both nickel-based super alloys and ceramic matrix composites.

Greenhouse have been developed to provide the plants with good environmental conditions for cultivation crop, two major factors of which are the inside air temperature and humidity. The inside temperature are influenced by the heating systems, ventilators and for systems among others, which in turn are geverned by some type of controller. Likewise, humidity environment is the result of complex mass exchanges between the inside air and the several elements of the greenhouse and the outside boundaries. Most of the existing models are based on the energy balance method and heat balance equation for modelling the heat and mass fluxes and generating dynamic elements. However, greenhouse are classified as complex system, and need to make a sophisticated modeling. Furthermore, there is a difficulty in using classical control methods for complex process system due to the process are non linear and multi-output(MIMO) systems. In order to predict the time evolution of conditions in certain greenhouse as a function, we present here to use of recurrent neural networks(RNN) which has been used to implement the direct dynamics of the inside temperature and inside humidity of greenhouse. For the training, we used algorithm of a backpropagation Through Time (BPTT). Because the environmental parameters are shared by all time steps in the network, the gradient at each output depends not only on the calculations of the current time step, but also the previous time steps. The training data was emulated to 13 input variables during March 1 to 7, and the model was tested with database file of March 8. The RMSE of results of the temperature modeling was $0.976^{\circ}C$, and the RMSE of humidity simulation was 4.11%, which will be given to prove the performance of RNN in prediction of the greenhouse environment.

CyberKnife is a stereotactic radiosurgery system which could be used to treat many tumors and lesions. It provides the surgeon unparalleled flexibility in targeting using a compact light linear accelerator mounted on a robotic arm. Advanced image guidance technology tracks patient and target position during treatment, ensuring accuracy without the use of an invasive head frame. CyberKnife with Dynamic Tracking Software is cleared to provide radiosurgery for lesions anywhere in the body when radiation treatment is indicated. It has often been used to radiosurgically treat otherwise untreatable tumors and malformations. Moreover, this instrument treats tumors at body sites, most of which are unreachable by other stereotactic systems. Compared with conventional radiotherapy, it is fundamentally different that using non-invasive, frameless, no excessive radiation exposure to normal tissue. In oral malignant neoplasm, surgical excision and radiation therapy should be tried first, additionally chemotherapy could be considered. However, after failure of conventional therapies, patients had poor systemic condition and surgical limitation. So, CyberKnife could be a suitable therapy. A 49 years man was referred in recurred mandibular cancer treated by radiotherapy. The tumor was considered inoperable, because of extensive invasion and was not expected to good response to conventional therapies. We experienced a case of CyberKnife after 4 cycle chemotherapies, so we report it with review of literature.

For the lateral load resistance of a RC frame in a medium risk seismic zone, the strength of lower story beams and columns should be larger than those of the upper stories. However, the lateral loads can be accommodated by redistributing design beam moments vertically as well as horizontally so all beams end up with identical strengths. This paper looks at the impact of the vertical redistribution of beam moments to provide identical beam strength over as many floors as possible. Two-bay six-story RC frame was designed with and without vertical beam moment redistribution and its seismic performance were evaluated by using push-over limit analysis and by non-linear time history dynamic analysis. Analytical results show that with the use of vertical beam moment redistribution the increase in the ductility demand is similar to the proportion of moment redistribution applied, but this additional demand is below the ductility capacity of well detailed RC members.

Climate models, both global and regional, have increased in sophistication and are being run at increasingly higher resolutions. The Land Surface Models (LSMs) coupled to these climate models have evolved from simple bucket models to sophisticated Soil-Vegetation-Atmosphere Transfer (SVAT) schemes needed to support complex linkages and processes. However, some underpinnings of terrestrial hydrologic parameterizations so crucial in the predictions of surface water and energy fluxes cause model errors that often manifest as non-linear drifts in the dynamic response of land surface processes. This requires the improved parameterizations of key processes for the terrestrial hydrologic scheme to improve the model predictability in surface water and energy fluxes. The Common Land Model (CLM), one of state-of-the-art LSMs, is the land component of the Community Climate System Model (CCSM). However, CLM also has energy and water biases resulting from deficiencies in some parameterizations related to hydrological processes. This research presents the implementation of a selected set of parameterizations and their effects on the runoff prediction. The modifications consist of new parameterizations for soil hydraulic conductivity, water table depth, frozen soil, soil water availability, and topographically controlled baseflow. The results from a set of offline simulations are compared with observed data to assess the performance of the new model. It is expected that the advanced terrestrial hydrologic scheme coupled to the current CLM can improve model predictability for better prediction of runoff that has a large impact on the surface water and energy balance crucial to climate variability and change studies.
During the loading/offloading operation of a liquefied natural gas carrier (LNGC) that is moored in a side-by-side configuration with an offshore plant, sloshing that occurs due to the partially filled LNG tank and the interactive effect between the two floating bodies are important factors that affect safety and operability. Therefore, a time-domain software program, called CHARM3D, was developed to consider the interactions between sloshing and the motion of a floating body, as well as the interactions between multiple bodies using the potential-viscous hybrid method. For the simulation of a floating body in the time domain, hydrodynamic coefficients and wave forces were calculated in the frequency domain using the 3D radiation/diffraction panel program based on potential theory. The calculated values were used for the simulation of a floating body in the time domain by convolution integrals. The liquid sloshing in the inner tanks is solved by the 3D-FDM Navier-Stokes solver that includes the consideration of free-surface non-linearity through the SURF scheme. The computed sloshing forces and moments were fed into the time integration of the ship's motion, and the updated motion was, in turn, used as the excitation force for liquid sloshing, which is repeated for the ensuing time steps. For comparison, a sloshing motion coupled analysis program based on linear potential theory in the frequency domain was developed. The computer programs that were developed were applied to the side-by-side offloading operation between the offshore plant and the LNGC. The frequency-domain results reproduced the coupling effects qualitatively, but, in general, the peaks were over-predicted compared to experimental and time-domain results. The interactive effects between the sloshing liquid and the motion of the vessel can be intensified further in the case of multiple floating bodies.

Peak expiratory flow rate(PEF) is one of the most important diagnostic parameters in spirometry. PEF occurs in a very short duration during the forced expiratory maneuver, which could lead to measurement error due to non-ideal dynamic characteristic of the transducer. In such case the initial slope of the flow rate signal determines the accuracy of the measured PEF. The present study considered this initial slope as a parameter to compensate PEF. The 26 standard flow rate signals recommended by the American Thoracic Society(ATS) were flown through the air flow transducer followed by simultaneous measurements of PEF and maximum transducer output$(N_{PEF})$. $N_{PEF}$-PEF satisfied a quadratic equation in general, however, two signals (ATS #2 and #26) having large initial slopes deviated from the fitting equation to a significant degree. The relative error was found to be in a linear relationship with the initial slope, thus, $N_{PEF}$ was appropriately compensated to provide accurate PEF with mean relative error less than only 1%. The 99% confidence interval of the mean relative error was less than a half of the error limit of 5% recommended by ATS. Therefore, PEF can be very accurately determined by compensating the transducer output based on the initial slope, which should be a useful technique for air flow transducer calibration.
