This study focused the effect of small business owner's competencies on business performance. Especially mediating effect of professional education between independent variables and dependent variables. As a result of statistical analysis, 3 hypothesis were accepted and 1 hypothesis was rejected. H1. The relationship between small business owner's managerial competencies and business performance was positive. H2. The relationship between small business owner's technological competencies and business performance was not valid. H3. Professional education was mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and financial performance. H4. Professional education was mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and non-financial performance. This study founded professional education was mediating effect, especially partial mediating effect between small business owner's competencies and financial performance, non-financial performance. This study provided logical background on government support of small business owner's professional education and small business owner's spontaneous participation in professional educations
Purpose - This study empirically examines the effects of environmental dynamics(dynamics of one's own company, dynamics of competitors, and dynamics of customers), within the franchise industry, on the dependence and conflict(dysfunctional conflict and functional conflicts) and the business performances(financial and non-financial). Furthermore, we empirically examined the effects of the dependence of franchise on the conflicts(dysfunctional conflict and functional conflict) and business performances(financial and non-financial). Finally, we empirically examined the effects of the conflicts of franchise (dysfunctional conflict and functional conflict) on the business performances(financial and non-financial). Research design, data, and methodology - Our study conducted a survey on the managers and owners of the franchises located in Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon. The total number of valid samples was 230, and the structural equation model was analyzed by using AMOS program. Results - First, the environmental dynamics(dynamics of one's own company, dynamics of competitors, and dynamics of customers) in the franchise industry were shown to have statistically significant positive effect on the dependence of franchise. Second, among the environmental dynamics in the franchise industry, the dynamics of one's own company and the dynamics of the customers were shown to have a statistically significant positive effect on the dysfunctional conflicts of franchisees. However, in the franchise industry, the dynamics of competitors did not have a statistically significant effect on the dysfunctional conflict of the franchise. Third, in the franchise industry, the environmental dynamics(dynamics of one's own company, dynamics of competitors, and dynamics of customers) did not have a statistically significant effect on the functional conflicts of the franchises. Fourth, the dependence of franchise was shown to have a statistically significant positive effect on the conflicts(dysfunctional conflict and functional conflict). Fifth, the dysfunctional conflict of franchisees was shown to have a statistically significant negative effect on the business performances(financial and non-financial). Sixth, the functional conflicts of franchises was shown to have a statistically significant positive effect on business performances(financial and non-financial). Conclusions - From the franchise industry researches, the environmental dynamics were selected as the preceding factors and the relationship leading to dependence, conflict, and business performance were constructed into model.
Purpose: This study analyzes the characteristics of the Quality Management performed by SMEs in the Defense Industry in supply chains and analyzes the effect of the continuous improvement activities based on cooperation. Especially, for Military Supplies, the suitability of products is usually decided by judging their conformity to the specification, and from this structural characteristic, this study would analyze the structural relationship of systematic improvement activities with Supply Chain Quality Management(SCQM) and Business Performance(BP). Methods: Continuous improvement activities(CI) have significance as the driver force for the promotion of Quality Management. Thus, this study analyzed the causal relationships from the perspective of the process among CI, SCQM and BP. For an analysis of the structural characteristics and causal relationships among the constituents, AMOS was used, and 297 companies in the Defense Industry were utilized as samples. Results: It turned out that CI had significant impacts on Management Infra(MGT_Infra), Process Management(PM), Human Resources Management(HRM) and Communication(COMU) and had an indirect impact on the enterprises' financial performance through the parameters of HRM and Communication. Meanwhile, it turned out that between CI and non-financial performance, there was a direct effect, and there was also an indirect effect through the variables of the Management Infra and Communication. Conclusion: It turned out that CI had a positive effect on SCQM as a proactive driver and that they had significant relationships with BP(financial, Non-financial), both financial performance and non-financial performance. However, PM did not have a significant relationship of effect with BP because of the character appearing by the evaluation method of military supplies for the conformity to the specifications.
In this paper, the effect of government corporate support projects on corporate growth was analyzed, and the effect on corporate financial performance or non-financial performance was empirically analyzed by using the growth stage as a modulating variable in government support activities. As a result, it was analyzed that government corporate support had a significant effect on financial performance, non-financial performance, and use of government support, and that the moderating effect of the growth stage had a positive (+) effect on both financial and non-financial performance. Taken together, the research results showed that government corporate support had a positive effect on corporate performance, the growth stage had a positive (+) effect on both financial and non-financial performance, and the impact on financial performance was even greater. Accordingly, government support projects must be supported according to each company's growth stage, and during the decline, companies need to provide customized support according to the state of the company through industry and corporate analysis, and it is expected to be meaningful to improve the efficiency of the government's business support project.
Purpose - There is a lack of research on how much corporate control is sufficient for effective subsidiary business-related decision making. To address this research gap, this study analyzes the impact of the level of control of a Korean corporation's headquarters on its overseas subsidiary performance. Research design, data, methodology - The study's sample comes from the Overseas Korean Business Directory of KOTRA. A multiple regression analysis empirically confirmed the relationship between the headquarters level of control over the subsidiaries and their performance. Results - The results show that the greater an organization's headquarters control over strategic issues, the greater the subsidiary's non-financial performance. However, quick decision-making through decentralization promotes the rapid selection of successful new products that can provide a competitive advantage. Conclusion - This study shows that the impact of control levels on subsidiary performance depends on the type of control involved. Specifically, while low levels of control over operational issues had a positive (+) influence on subsidiary non-financial performance, high control levels led to improved non-financial performance with regard to strategic issues among the subsidiaries.

The purpose of this study is examine the factors influencing performance of long-term orientation and Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR) activities. This model tests various theoretical research hypotheses relating to social enterprise, CSR activities and long-term orientation. The proposed model is analyzed to target 115 social entrepreneurs with Smart Partial Least Square(PLS) 2.0. The result of hypothesis testing are as follows. First, long-term orientation positively influence community responsibility, environmental responsibility, and product(service) responsibility. Second, community responsibility positively influence financial and non-financial performance. Third, environmental responsibility positively influence non-financial performance, but does not significantly influence financial performance. Finally, product(service) responsibility does not significantly influence financial and non-financial performance. The results of this study will provide various implications to improve performance, long-term orientation, and CSR activities in social enterprise.
The purpose of this study is to present the factors that affect business model and product innovation on the enterprise performance of the mobile ecosystem, and to confirm the results of whether they have an effect. To this end, through prior research, business model factors and product innovation factors were defined in the mobile ecosystem that was the mother of the 4th industry, and a hypothesis that each factor will affect corporate performance was established. Through the exploratory surveys and interviews, the value proposition of the business model proved to have a positive (+) effect on the financial and non-disaster performance of the company, and the innovation was proved to have a positive (+) effect on the non-financial performance of the company. It was analyzed that the price competitiveness of product innovation had a positive (+) effect on the financial factors of a company, and the initial market entry had a positive (+) effect on the non-financial factors. With this study, we propose the criteria for reviewing the performance of companies that are rapidly competing in the 4th industrial revolution in terms of business model and product innovation.
The central purpose of this study is to examine the relationships among learning and growth perspective, internal business process perspective, custom perspective, financial perspective, and general performance. To achieve this purpose, this study uses Kaplan and Norton's(1996) Balanced Scorecard Model theory. A field survey was undertaken through questionnaire sampling a population of construction companies. The data was collected from 185 firms in Korea for the analysis. The major findings of this study can be summarized as follows; Theoretical consideration and empirical study indicate statistically significant relationship(F=7.68, p=0.000). Especially, Financial perspective appeared to mediate the relationship between non-financial perspectives and general performance. It concludes that Non-financial perspectives significant affect the financial perspective and general performance. But, there are several limitations and directions for future research that should be noted. The potential limitation of this study concerns sampling and for selection process. Future research needs to reduce potential bias by collecting data which allows multiple industries for a subset of the sample.
Purpose - This paper examines the effects of host country's non-economic factors on foreign affiliate's financial and operational performance. Design/Methodology - Using Korean-owned foreign affiliate-level data, we employ various measures that represent host country's non-economic factors and examine their effects on foreign affiliate's performance. We further investigate the effects of local top managers and local middle managers on the impact of country's non-economic factors on foreign affiliate's performance. Findings - We find that local top managers are effective in increasing foreign affiliate's financial performance by dealing with institutional and cultural factors, particularly in high-income countries, while local middle managers are effective in increasing affiliate's operational performance by responding to the changes in doing business factors, particularly in low-income countries. Originality/value - Considering that most of previous FDI studies focus on examining host country's economic factors on firm's FDI decision, our findings suggest that country's non-economic factors are strongly associated with actual business performance of foreign affiliates.

The Purpose of this study is to Identify and analyze the factors that determine the survival or success of internet-based companies in the start-up phase. The reason why we focus on companies which are in the early stage of development is because internet business is still at its early stage, and statistics indicate that many internet businesses have failed during the start-up phase. Using the model of new product outcomes proposed by Cooper(1979), we have formulated a conceptual model for more successful internet business ventures. On the basis of this model, the relationship between the financial and non-financial performance and various variables in the model is analyzed. For collecting empirical data, a web-based survey questionnaire was designed. A total of 97 usable questionnaires were gathered from internet companies nationwide. The results showed that controllable variables such as the commercial entity and information acquired during the new business process are related to the non-financial performance, while environment variables such as the compatibility of the resource base of the firm with the business, including a few controllable variables, are related to the financial performance. Future research needs to explore more precisely how the success factors are different according to the types of internet businesses and/or the stages of growth of the business.
