Eighteen Holstein Friesian ${\times}$ Native heifers with an average live weight of $175.4{\pm}27.8kg$ were allotted to 3 dietary groups. All animals were kept individually in a stanchion barn with free access to water and urea-treated rice straw (UTS). The supplemented feeds were as follows: Group (Gr) 1 - concentrate mixture (15% CP) at 1% body weight (BW), Gr 2 - concentrate mixture at 0.7% BW + free licking of multinutrient block (MNB), Gr 3 - as Gr 2 + 0.3% BW ground com. Multinutrient block composed of 20% mineral mixture, 10% urea, 18% molasses, 20% soybean meal, 22% sesame meal, 10% cement, 0.15 million IU and 50 IU/kg MNB of vitamin A and E. The experimental period lasted 12 weeks. The result revealed that MNB enhanced intake of UTS and total dry matter intake. Animals in Gr 3 consumed a higher amount of feed than the other 2 groups, thus resulting in the highest live weight gain and tended to possess the best feed conversion ratio. Heifers in Gr 2 also performed better than Gr 1 although the difference was not significant. Average MNB intake found to be 0.65 kg/day. Feed cost per kg gain was not significantly different amon groups. However if the cost of MNB could be lower, it would benefit the production cost of animals. The advantage of MNB is the safety of using a high level of urea. Although it was supplemented to UTS which also contained non-protein nitrogen (NPN), no toxic sign was shown. The results indicated that MNB could be partially substituted to concentrate mixture and it was even better when used incombination with soluble carbohydrate feed.
Approximately 8.5 million tons of fly ash and 740,000 tons of briquette ash were produced in 2010. Inefficient recycling of coal ash has been a heavy economic and environmental burden and economical coal ash utilization technologies are required to turn coal ash into valuable resources. In this study the patents and literature were analyzed to understand the present situation of coal ash recycling technologies and to promote utilization of coal ash for producing a non-sintering green cement, geopolymer. The survey was based on the open patents of USA, European Union, Japan and Korea, and the papers in SCI - indexed journals published between 1979 and 2013. Technical key words were used for data collection and noise filtering. Trends of recycling technologies in utilization of coal ash for producing geopolymers were discussed in terms of time periods, countries, companies and various forms of technologies.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the magnitude and distribution of stress using a photoelastic model from a distal extension removable partial dentures with three kinds of mandibular major connectors, that is, lingual bar, linguoplate, and swing-lock attachment. A photoelastic model was made of the epoxy resin(PC-1) and hardener(PCH-1) and coated with plastic cement-1 (PC-1) at the lingual surface of the epoxy model and set with three kinds of chrome-cobalt removable partial dentures. A bilateral vertical load of 15kg to the middle portion of the metal bar crossing both the first molars of the right and the left, and a unilateral vertical load of 12.5kg to the right first molar were applied with the use of specially designed loading device and the reflective circular polariscope was used to analyze the photoelastic model under each condition. The following results were obtained : 1. When the bilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the edentulous area and the terminal abutment or adjacent teeth was in the order of lingual bar, linguoplate, swing-lock attachment. 2. When the unilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the edentulous area and the terminal abutment or adjacent teeth was in the order of lingual bar, linguoplate, swing-lock attachment. 3. When the unilateral vertical load was applied, the magnitude and distribution of the stress concentration of the termial abutment or adjacent teeth on the non-loaded side showed the least stress distribution in case of swing-lock attachment. 4. When the bilateral vertical load and the unilateral vertical load were applied the swing-lock attachment showed the mildest uniform stress distribution on the edentulous area and the alveolar bone around the abutment teeth.
The Minamata Convention on Mercury entered into force on August 16, 2017. It requires Parties to the Convention to control and, where feasible, reduce mercury emissions from the listed sources. To implement the Convention, Japan amended the Air Pollution Control Law and added clauses that force operators to control their mercury emissions below emission limit values (ELVs). The ELVs have been established separately for new and existing sources, targeting the source categories listed in the Convention: coal-fired boilers, smelting and roasting processes used in the production of non-ferrous metals (lead, zinc, copper and industrial gold), waste incineration facilities and cement clinker production facilities. The factors used to establish the ELVs include the present state of mercury emissions from the targeted categories as well as the mercury content in fuels and materials, best available techniques (BATs) and best environmental practices (BEPs) to control and reduce mercury emissions and ELVs or equivalent standards to control mercury emissions in other countries. In this regard, extensive data on mercury emissions from flue gas and the mercury content of fuels and materials were collected and analyzed. The established ELVs range from $8{\mu}g/Nm^3$ for new coal-fired boilers to $400{\mu}g/Nm^3$ for existing secondary smelting processes used in the production of copper, lead and zinc. This paper illustrates the ELVs for the targeted source categories, explaining the rationales and approaches used to set the values. The amended Law is to be enforced on April 1, 2018. From future perspectives, checks of the material flow of mercury, following up on the state of compliance, review of the ELVs and of the measurement and monitoring methods have been noted as important issues.
Dogs are a very good indicator of the pollution load on the environment. They share people's environment and are exposed to the action of the same pollutants. This study was to estimate the heavy metal contents in dog hairs in domestic districts, and to assess effects of age, sex, feed habits, living area, breeding environment and smoking habit of owner. The mean concentrations of heavy metals in 204 samples were 0.09${\pm}$0.10 ${\mu}g$/g, 0.21${\pm}$0.09 ${\mu}g$/g, 0.82${\pm}$0.09 ${\mu}g$/g and 0.48${\pm}$0.07 ${\mu}g$/g (Cadmium (Cd), Mercury (Hg), Lead (Pb) and Chromium (Cr)) in dog hairs, respectively. Concentrations of Pb, Cd, Hg and Cr in dog hairs in Yeongnam including Ulsan and Seoul, were higher than in Chungchong and Honam, and concentrations of Pb were significantly different (p<0.01). Concentrations of Cd, Hg, Pb and Cr in dog hairs increased with age (p<0.05). Only dogs fed commercial pet foods had significantly higher Cd and Cr concentrations in hairs than dogs fed dog feed and human diet (p<0.01 in Cd and p<0.05 in Cr). Cr concentrations of dog hairsfrom dogs kept on cement floors were the highest of the other environments (p<0.01). Heavy metal concentrations of dogs owned by smokers, were higher than dogs of non-smokers, but there were no significant differences.

The evolution of electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) of the piezoelectricity (PZT) sensor was investigated to determine the setting times of cementitious materials in this study. The PZT sensor coated with non-conductive acrylic resin was embedded in cement paste before casting and the EMI signatures were continuously measured. Vicat needle test and semi-adiabatic calorimetry test were also conducted to justify the validity of EMI senssing technique in setting monitoring of cementitious materials. The results show that significant changes in EMI resonant peak magnitude and frequency during setting process were observed, and that the setting times determined by EMI sensing technique were relevant to the setting times measured by Vicat needle test and semi-adiabatic calorimetry test.
In this study, fluorine-silicate hybrid type crack reducing agent(FS) consisted of fluorine and silicate compounds applied to concrete mix(specification : 25-30-18) between 0.5% and 2.0% at intervals of 0.5% based on cement weight. Experiments for material properties of concrete such as slump, air content and bleeding with elapsed time were performed. Experiment and elucidation for shrinkage crack resistance as well as adiabatic hydration temperature were also carried out. It was appeared that FS addition contributed to lower bleeding and hydration temperature without disturbance of fresh properties of concrete such as slump and air content compared to non-added concrete. Especially, shrinkage crack resistance of concrete resulted from plastic and drying shrinkage could be effectively reduced by the addition of FS ranging from 1.0% to 1.5%.
This study described the result of laboratory model tests, in order to compare the improvement effect of the DCM column installed on the soft ground according to DCM column type. In the laboratory model test, the non-reinforced type and the 3 types of DCM column were applied, and the behavior (settlement, lateral flow) of soft ground was evaluated under the surcharge load condition for each type. The settlement evaluation result showed that the settlement of soft ground without DCM column occurred rapidly under the low load condition, but the settlement of the soft ground with the DCM column had relatively small settlement. The evaluation result of lateral flow in the soft ground showed that the soft ground with DCM column had lower lateral displacement than the soft ground without DCM column. Especially, the lateral displacement under the same load condition decreased in the order of pile type, wall type, and grid type. Therefore, it confirmed that the improvement effect of soft ground was excellent when the DCM of grid type was applied for settlement and lateral flow.
The shotcrete is a NATM technique as a major tunnel support for ground stability after tunnel excavation. Instead of a general concrete lining method, it is a trend for curtail of construction periods and reduction of construction expenses that required to use of the permanent shotcrete lining. This high-strength shotcrete is required to use as a permanent shotcrete lining. This brought out the solution of environmental pollution and harmfulness to human. Accordingly, in this study specimens for strength measurement were made to develop shotcrete possible to develop materials in early with cement mineral accelerator as NATM method construction. It was compared with existing shotcrete material, unconfined compression test, flexural strength test, antiwashout underwater test were experimented. The fish poison test was experimented to evaluate an influence of environment. As a results of the test, unconfined compressive strength and flexural strength were equivalent with 28-curing day strength of existing material. An antiwashout of research subject material was revealed excellently in antiwashout Underwater test. As a results of the fish poison, an evaluation research subject material was founded more environmentally friendly than existing shotcrete.
PURPOSE. The purposes of this study are to evaluate the internal and marginal adaptation of two widely used CAD/CAM systems and to study the effect of porcelain press veneering process on the prosthesis adaptation. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Molar of a lower jaw typodont resin model was prepared by adjusting a 1.0 mm circumferential chamfer, an occlusal reduction of 2.0 mm, and a $5^{\circ}$ convergence angle and was duplicated as an abrasion-resistant master die. The monolithic crowns and copings were fabricated with two different CAD/CAM system-Ceramil and Zirkonzahn systems. Two kinds of non-destructive analysis methods are used in this study. First, weight technique was used to determine the overall fitting accuracy. And, to evaluate internal and marginal fit of specific part, replica technique procedures were performed. RESULTS. The silicone weight for the cement space of monolithic crowns and copings manufactured with Ceramil system was significantly higher than that from Zirkonzahn system. This gap might cause the differences in the silicone weight because the prostheses were manufactured according to the recommendation of each system. Marginal discrepancies of copings made with Ceramil system were between 106 and $117{\mu}m$ and those from Zirkonzahn system were between 111 and $115{\mu}m$. Marginal discrepancies of copings made with Ceramil system were between 101 and $131{\mu}m$ and those from Zirkonzahn system were between 116 and $131{\mu}m$. CONCLUSION. Marginal discrepancy was relatively lower in Ceramil system and internal gap was smaller in Zirkonzahn system. There were significant differences in the internal gap of monolithic crown and coping among the 2 CAD/CAM systems. Marginal discrepancy produced from the 2 CAD/CAM systems were within a reported clinically acceptable range of marginal discrepancy.
