Background: The number of primary human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-1 non-B subtype infections (non-B) and that of reports regarding the differences in the pathogenesis of subtype B and non-B infections are increasing. However, to the best of our knowledge, there have been no reports on gross deletion in the nef gene (g∆nef) in non-B infections. Methods: To determine whether there is a difference in the change in CD4+ T cells after treatment with Korean Red Ginseng (KRG) between patients with subtype B and non-B infections, we retrospectively analyzed and compared the annual decrease in CD4+ T cells (AD) and the proportion of g∆nef in 77 patients who were followed for more than 10 years in the absence of combination antiretroviral therapy. Results: Overall, AD was significantly faster in patients with non-B infections than in those with subtype B infections. Survival analysis showed that the survival probability was significantly higher in subtype B than in non B-infected patients. These differences mainly resulted from significant differences in the amount of KRG and age. In the patients treated with KRG, there was a significant correlation between the amount of KRG and the AD in both subtypes. Interestingly, there was a significant correlation between the amount of KRG and the proportion of g∆nef in patients infected with subtype B, but not in those infected with non-B. The same phenomenon was observed when the KRG dose was adjusted. Conclusion: Our results suggest that non-B may be biologically more stable than subtype B.
In this paper, we developed the new non-rubbing liquid crystal (LC) alignment techniques in the cell with slanted non-polarized ultraviolet (UV) light irradiation on polyimide (PI) film. It is shown that the uniform alignment for nematic (N) LC is obtained by using slanted non-polarized UV light irradiation on PI surface. We successfully obtained that the pretilt angle of NLC is generated about 3.3 degree in the cell with slanted non-polarized UV light irradiation with 70 degree on PI surface, for the first time. It is considered that the pretilt angle generation in NLC is attributed to interaction between the LC molecular and the PI, which is broken the polymer by slanted non-polarized UV irradiation. Therefore, we concluded that the uniform LC alignment is attributed to anisotropic dispersion force due to photo depolymerization with slanted non-polarized UV light irradiation on PI surface.

Existing non-manifold data structures which use the ordered topological representation method, are designed based on a "Model" which is the highest topological entity. Their non-manifold information is always included in edges and vertices even if they are in the manifold situation. Thus they require large storage spaces than manifold data structures. The proposed data structure reduces its storage space by removing unnecessary information stored in edges and vertices. Topological information is classified into manifold and non-manifold information. The main non-manifold information is radial cycles and disk cycles. The proposed data structure always stores manifold information. For the non-manifold situation, the edge stores radial cycles, and the vertex stores disk cycles. The storage space can be reduced in the later stage of CAD design when the ratio of non-manifold to manifold entities is small.

Among other critical conditions in rotor svstems the large non-linearvibration excited by bearing non-linearity causes the rotor failure. For reducing thiscatastrophic failure and predictive analysis of this phenomena the identificationanalysis of bearing non-linearity in an anisotropic rotor system using the higherorder dFRFs are developed and are shown to be theoretically feasible as innon-rotating structures. For the identification of the anisotropic rotor withanisotropic bearing non-linearity expressed by the displacement in polynomial form, the higher order dFRFs based upon the Volterra series are investigated and depicttheir features by using the simple forms of the normal and reverse dFRFs. Theyproduce additional sub-harmonic resonant peaks, which indicate the existence ofhigher order non-linearties, and show the energy transfer such that the modes fornormal and reuerse dFRFs are exchanged, which are the fundamental differencesfrom what we can expect in linear ones.
A numerical method and algorithms is proposed to perform optimization of non-linear response structures. An analytical and numerical method based finite element method is also proposed for the transformation of non-linear response into linear response. Loads transformed from this method are defined as the equivalent linear loads. With the loads and the transformed response, linear static optimization is performed for nonlinear response structure with geometric and/or material non-linearity. The results of the optimization are compared with them of typical non-linear response optimization using finite difference method. The proposed method is very efficient and derives good solution.
The photosynthetic rate (LPS)in the field was higher in the non-shading condition than in the shading. The fertilizer application was somewhat higher than non-fertilizer application. After humus application at 50% sading condition the growth and LPS increased with Ligularia fischeri. The maximum LPS at 80% shading was 22.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/m/s with N-fertilizer application . Except Aster tataricus and Solidago virge-aurea. var. asiatic where the maximum LPS at non-shading and N-fertilizer application were 38.68 and 35.28${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/m2/s. While the maximum LPS of Aster scaber was 30.01${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$mol/$m^2$/s at non-shading and non-fertilizer application. the growth rate was higher shading and fertilized conditions than non-shading and non-fertilized . The most effective shading condition was 50% , but leaf ration was highest in the 80% . But a. tataricus was favorable at non-shading and N-feritlized conditions.
A recycling soap was prepared from non-cooking oils. The effects of physlcal and chemical properties of the recycling soap on biodegradation are expected to be different due to the thermal histories of the non-cooking oils. Therefore, the biodegradation rate of the recycling soap was studied by using Klebssella Pneumoniae(K. pneumoniae), and the growth rate of K. pnewoniae in soap solution was observed. The biodegradation rate of the recycling soap appeared to be slower as the thermal histories of the non-cooking oils became larger. This might be resulted from hydrolysis, in which the ester bonds in the oils are broken to produce hydroxyl group. It was also observed that the growth rate of the microorganism decreased with the increase in the thermal histories of the oils. As a result, it is desired that recycling soap should be produced from the non-cooking oils with the prober ranges of thermal histories to reduce water contamination. The non-cooking oils with larger thermal histories are considered to be recycling through the cracking process before used. Key Words : non-cooking oils, recycling soap, thermal history, biodegradation, microorganism growth.
In this paper, the electrical characteristics of the non-contact transformer is presented using conventional coupled inductor theory. Each non-contact transformer is analyzed through simulation and measurement. In high power applications, non-contact transformer is so bulky and heavy that it should be split by some light transformers. So non-contact transformer needs several small transformer modules which are connected series or parallel to transfer the primary power to the secondary one. This paper shows analytic result of the each non-contact transformer module and comparison result between series-connection and parallel-connection of the non-contact transformer. The results are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 30kW experimental prototype.
Experiments are conducted to study bubble flow behavior during the instability of subcooled boiling under uniform and non-uniform transverse heating. The non-uniform heat distribution introduces nonuniform bubble generation and condensation rates on the heated surface, which is different from the uniform heating. These bubble generation and condensation characteristics introduce a non-uniform local pressure distribution in the transverse direction, which creates an extra non-uniform pressure on the flowing bubbles. Therefore, different bubble flow behavior can be observed between uniform and non-uniform heating conditions. In the uniform heating, bubble velocity fluctuations are low, and the bubbles travel straight along the axial direction. In the non-uniform heating, more fluctuation in the bubble velocity occurs at low mass flow rate and high subcooled inlet temperatures, and reverse flow is observed. Additionally, the bubbles show a zigzag trajectory when they pass through the channel, which indicates the existence of cross flow in the transverse direction.
Non-reactor nuclear facilities are increasing remarkably in Korea combined with advanced technologies such as life and space engineering, and the diversification of the nuclear industry. However, the absence of a basic classification guideline related to the design of non-reactor nuclear facilities has created confusion whenever related projects are carried out. In this paper, related domestic and international technical guidelines are reviewed to present the classification criteria of non-reactor nuclear facilities in Korea. Based on these criteria, the classification of structures, systems and components (SSCs) for safety controls is presented. Using the presented classification criteria, classification of a hot cell facility, a representative non-reactor nuclear facility, was performed. As a result of the classification, the hot cell facility is classified as the hazard category 3, accordingly, the safety class was classified as non-nuclear safety, the seismic category as non-seismic (RW-IIb), and the quality class as manufacturers' standards (S).
