  • This study investigates influence on concrete adding beverage or detergent, by work man's mistakes during concrete placement in field. Overall, concrete adding beverage or detergent does not affect slump and air content, compared with control concrete. However concrete adding detergent resulted in significantly higher air content, due to inter facial activation ingredient. For the properties of setting time, concrete adding lactic acid beverage indicated the longest retarding properties, next was coffee and soft drink in order. Compressive strength of concrete, which retarded setting time. exhibited slightly improved value at 7 and 28 days respectively, while that of concrete adding detergent significantly decreased, due to higher air content.

  • The bottom slab of Inchon LNG in-ground #213 tank is designed as a massive structure witch has a large depth and section. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design having good workability and low hydration heat for bottom slab concrete and to control the actual concrete quality in site. For this purpose, we select the optimum mix design used ternary blended cement(furnace slag cement+fly ash) and design factors. As test results of actual application, we have finish placing the bottom slab concrete of 23,180㎥ during 68hours with good success and obtain the good quality of fresh and hardened concrete including slump, air contents, no-segregation, compressive strength and low hydration heat in actual data. All test results are satisfied with our specifications for bottom slab concrete and we cut costs as the use of ternary blended cement and the reduction of placing hours.

  • In this paper, mechanical properties of concrete incorporating CKD are discussed with W/B and fluidity. For setting properties, an increase in W/B retarded setting time greatly in $5^{\circ}C$, while accelerated in $20^{\circ}C$. For fluidity, an increase in slump delayed the setting time with dosage of SP agent. The presence of CKD has little influence on setting time compared with plain concrete. For compressive strength, an increase in maturity enhanced compressive strength. Fluidity had no relation to compressive strength. At low curing temperature, concrete with CKD has slight strength loss compared with plain concrete. However, remarkable strength loss at low curing temperature in early stage was not found, which can be applicable to low temperature environment concrete placing.

  • This research investigates the actual data and construction technology of the massive bottom slab placed by $23,000m^3$ concrete quantity in site of the in-ground type LNG receiving terminal having 20,000kl storage capacity. The purpose of this study is to determine the optimum mix design and control the actual concreting procedures including concrete production, transportation, placement, vibrating and curing in site. For this purpose, the optimum mix design using ternary blended cement(furnace slag cement+fly ash) and under piping method having 11 gates and 7 distributors are selected. As test results of actual construction, concrete placement is finished during 68hours with good success and obtained the good quality of the fresh and hardened concrete including slump, air contents, no-segregation, compressive strength and low hydration heat. Also, actual data for all of concrete procedures are proved successful and satisfied with our specifications.

  • Concrete used as structural materials in construction fields is supplied as a type of carry and placement by ready-mixed concrete (RMC) truck after proportioning in batch plant. However, during conveying of concrete to the field, due to traffic jam, weather, etc., it is not easy to maintain adequate slump. In this case, we think that the insert of an admixture to concrete has no problem in concrete. For RMC, when the slump is not sufficient, the truck driver insert water additionally without any considerations. After that, concrete is placed after re-mixing and this leads to serious reasons such as strength reduction less than design strength considered in the structural design. Accordingly, in this study, to solve the problem to insert water without realistic reasons in RMC, basic experimental studies were performed. Admixtures used frequently in fields were selected and addition's repeated time and elapsed time interval after initial addition of the admixture were selected as main variables. Authors want that the results of this study is used as basic data to resolve the question.

  • The study herein reports the impact of Steel Fiber (SF) and Ground Granulated Blast Furnaces slag (GGBFS) content on the fresh and hardened properties of fly ash (FA) based Self-Compacting Geopolymer Concrete (SCGC). Two series of self-compacting geopolymer concrete (SCGC) were formulated with a constant binder content of $450kg/m^3$ and at an alkaline-to-binder (a/b) ratio of 0.50. Fly ash (FA) was substituted with GGBFS with the replacement levels being 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% by weight in each SCGC series. Steel fiber (SF) wasn't employed in the assembly of the initial concrete series whereas, within the second concrete series, an SF combination was achieved by a constant additional level of 1% by volume. Fresh properties of mixtures were through an experiment investigated in terms of slump flow diameter, T50 slump flow time, V-funnel flow time, and L-box height ratio. Moreover, the mechanical performance of the SCGCs was evaluated in terms of compressive strength, splitting tensile strength, and fracture toughness. Furthermore, a statistical analysis was applied in order to judge the importance of the experimental parameters, like GGBFS and SF contents. The experimental results indicated that the incorporation of SF had no vital impact on the fresh characteristics of the SCGC mixtures whereas GGBFS aggravated them. However, the incorporation of GGBFS was considerably improved the mechanical properties of SCGCs. Moreover, the incorporation of SF with the total different quantity of GGBFS replacement has considerably increased the mechanical properties of SCGCs, by close to (65%) for the splitting strength and (200%) for compressive strength.

  • In this paper, field application of mass concrete using setting time difference of super retarding agent is reported to reduce hydration heat of concrete placed at newly constructed apartment house in Busan. Horizontal placing lift is applied. According to test results. slump and air content meets the requirement of target values. For compressive strength, it exceeds the nominal strength ordered by the costumer. Compressive strength of concrete cured in place is achieved more than the values of nominal strength at l4days. For temperature history, maximum temperature of center at top section shows 58.5$^{\circ}C$, and at bottom section, 62.6$^{\circ}C$. According to naked eye's investigation, no hydration heat crack is observed at the surface of concrete.

  • In this study we changed W/C into 45, 50, 55, 60%, mixed sea sand which is often used as a replacing aggregate according to the lack of recourse with river sand in the ratio of 5:5 and producted antiwashout underwater concrete. We measured slump flow, air value, pH and suspension in the fresh concrete. After testing each W/C through unit weight and compressive strength of specimen which is produced and cured in the air and salt water it was founded that if sea sand was properly used after salt manufacturing, there will be no bad influence to antiwashout underwater concrete. The characteristic of them showed excellent, when W/C was 50%.

  • In this study, effects of carbon content and fineness of fly-ash on the workability an the strength development of concrete and investigated experimentally. Carbon content with 6 levels (0, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7%) and fineness with 3 levels (4, 000, 5, 000, 6, 000 $\textrm{cm}^2$/g) are selected for test variables. Besides, the effect of fly-ash with variation of initial concrete temperature is tested. To measure slump and air losses, small laboratory agitator is used. As the results, the used AE admixture content to maintain constant initial air content is increased linearly with increasing carbon content in fly-ash. With increasing fineness of fly-ash, the strengths at 3 and 7 days are slightly increased, however, there is no clear difference among 28 day strengths within the scope of this study.
