  • Niching methods extend genetic algorithms to domains that require the location of multiple solutions. But, current niching methods have some of drawbacks in the ability of search and preservation of solutions. So, this paper presents a new technique, named as Restricted Competition Selection(RCS). Then, RCS method is compared with sharing and deterministic crowding by applying to some multimodal problems in order to verify that it has more favorable properties.

  • Service oriented architecture (SOA) lends itself to model the application components to coarse-grained services in such a way that the composition of different services could be feasible. Service composition fulfills numerous service requirements by constructing composite applications with various services. As it is the case in many real-world applications, different users have diverse QoS demands issuing for composite applications. In this paper, we present a service composition framework for a typical service overlay network (SON) considering both multiple QoS constraints and load balancing factors. Moreover, a service selection algorithm based on niching technique and particle swarm optimization (PSO) is proposed for the service composition problem. It supports optimization problems with multiple constraints and objective functions, whether linear or nonlinear. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm results in an acceptable level of efficiency regarding the service composition objective under different circumstances.

  • The paper contrasts conventional seismic design with a design that incorporates buckling-restrained bracing in three-dimensional reinforced concrete buildings (BRBs). The suboptimal structures may be found using the multi-objective chimp optimization algorithm (MEN-ChOA). Given the constraints and dimensions, ChOA suffers from a slow convergence rate and tends to become stuck in local minima. Therefore, the ChOA is improved by niching and evolutionary operators to overcome the aforementioned problems. In addition, a new technique is presented to compute seismic and dead loads that include all of a structure's parts in an algorithm for three-dimensional frame design rather than only using structural elements. The performance of the constructed multi-objective model is evaluated using 12 standard multi-objective benchmarks proposed in IEEE congress on evolutionary computation. Second, MEN-ChOA is employed in constructing several reinforced concrete structures by the Mexico City building code. The variety of Pareto optimum fronts of these criteria enables a thorough performance examination of the MEN-ChOA. The results also reveal that BRB frames with comparable structural performance to conventional moment-resistant reinforced concrete framed buildings are more cost-effective when reinforced concrete building height rises. Structural performance and building cost may improve by using a nature-inspired strategy based on MEN-ChOA in structural design work.

  • In this paper, three dimensional Equivalent Magnetic Circuit Method(3-D EMCN method), a numerical analysis method which supplements to magnetic equivalent circuit adding numerical technique, is proposed for analysis Optical Pickup Actuator. [3] This method provides better characteristics both in precision of the analysis and in computation time than other analysis method such as three-dimensional Finite Element Method. RCS Niching Genetic Algorithm are used for optimal design.
