With the rapid urbanization and growing energy use intensity in the built environment, the glazed curtainwall has become ever more important in the architectural practice and environmental stewardship. Besides its energy efficiency roles, window has been an important transparent component for daylight penetration and a view-out for occupant satisfaction. In response to the climate crisis caused by the built environment, this research focuses on the study of net-zero energy retrofitting by using a new building integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) curtainwall as a sustainable alternative to conventional window systems. Design variables such as building orientations, climate zones, energy attributes of BIPV curtainwalls, and glazed area were studied, to minimize energy consumption and discomfort hours for three cities representing hot (Miami, FL), mixed (Charlotte, NC), and cold (Minneapolis, MN). Parametric analysis and Pareto solutions are presented to provide a comprehensive explanation of the correlation between design variables and performance objectives for net-zero energy retrofitting applications.
Urbanization is usually followed by changes in eating habits, with a specific trend toward the consumption of ready-to-eat products, such as processed foods. Among the latter, meat products are known contributors to high dietary sodium owing to salt addition. Salt plays an essential role in maintaining the quality of meat products in terms of acceptability and safety. However, an excessive salt intake is linked to high blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases. Hence, several studies have been competing for the discovery of salt alternatives performing in a similar way as common salt. A number of replacements have been proposed to reduce salt consumption in meat products while taking into account consumer preferences. Unfortunately, these have resulted in poorer product quality, followed by new adverse effects on health. This review addresses these recent issues by illustrating some established approaches and providing insight into further challenges in developing low-salt meat products.

Urbanization and the increase in building scale have amplified the complexity of M.E.P design. Traditional design methods face limitations when considering intricate pathways and variables, leading to an emergent need for research in automated design. Initial algorithmic approaches encountered challenges in addressing complex architectural structures and the diversity of M.E.P types. However, with the launch of OpenAI's ChatGPT-3.5 beta version in 2022, new opportunities in the automated design sector were unlocked. ChatGPT, based on the Large Language Model (LLM), has the capability to deeply comprehend the logical structures and meanings within training data. This study analyzed the potential application and latent value of LLMs in M.E.P design. Ultimately, the implementation of LLM in M.E.P design will make genuine automated design feasible, which is anticipated to drive advancements across designs in the construction sector.
The situation of the global food markets has been being rapidly restructured and entering on a new phase by new dynamic and driving forces. The factors such as economic growth and income increase, high energy price, globalization, urbanization, and global climate change are transforming patterns of food consumption, production, and markets. The prices and markets of world food and energy are getting increasingly linked each other. Food and fuel are the global dilemma issues associated with the risk of diverting farmland or of consuming cereals for biofuel production in detriment of the cereals supply to the global food markets. An estimated 100 million tons of grain per year are being redirected from food to fuel. Therefore, the objectives of this study are as follows: Firstly, the study examines situations of the world food and energy resources, analyzes the trends of prices of the crude oil and biofuel, and formulates the food-energy links mechanism. Secondly, the study builds a simulation model, based on system dynamics approach, for not only analyzing the global cereals market and energy market but also forecasting the global production, consumption, and stock of those markets by 2030 in the future. The model of this study consists of four sectors, i.e., world population dynamics sector, global food market dynamics sector, global energy market dynamics sector, scenario sector of world economic growth and oil price.
Korea's traditional house type, the Hanok, has been the essence of Korean domestic culture for hundreds of years. However, Hanok, have begun to disappear as result of urbanization. Because mud walls are crude and weak in water walls are also easily broken by impact. There are further problems in that construction cost is expensive and takes more time than modern house construction, and that the maintenance of Hanok is more difficult than people sometimes predict. Despite much interest in Hanok construction, there is a lack of in younger generation. Thus seeking new ways of maintaining Korea's traditional housing culture and extending Korean traditional houses is important. This study proposes directions for creating new residential environments for the future generation of Korea. A Dry-wall alternative to the Korean traditional mud wall is particularly needed. Dry-walling, made by sustainable materials such as mud board and wood, can strengthen the advantages and make up for the weaknesses of the Korea traditional mud wall. In this study, both wall types underwent various evaluations in terms of their performance in insulation testing, freezing and thawing testing, impacting testing and weight measuring (the size of material in this experiment was $69cm{\times}105cm$). On all of these tests, findings revealed that the dry-wall alternative performed better than traditional mud wall.
Due to the urbanization, lots of people are living in cities. It is very convenient to live in the cities for the people but at the same time, the highly populated city has several environmental problems. During delivery process of large amount of municipal waste generated from the cities, the automobile emission and traffic jam have been occurred. The waste collection in the cities has been mainly done by using labour force and delivery truck. This is the conventional waste collection up to now. Recently, new technologies like automated waste collection system and capsule transportation have been introduced. Conventional waste collection mainly relied on the labour force and truck delivery does not need to invest a lot of money for the start-up. However, it requires to pay the operational cost both for the labour force and the truck delivery. On the contrary to this conventional waste collection, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation require high initial investment cost. However, the automated waste collection and capsule transportation can reduce significantly the pollutants emission, traffic jam by the waste trucks and actual waste collection cost per ton. In dealing with the waste collection in the cities, new waste collection technologies could be properly combined with the conventional waste collection for the effective municipal waste treatment.
Vietnam's "Doi Moi", initiated in 1986, translated to high economic growth and rapid urbanization for the country, but also widened the gap between rural and urban areas. Vietnam's National Target Program on New Rural Development for 2010-2020 was aimed at developing the rural economy and improving the living standards of rural people, but after five years the urban-rural gap remains substantial. Two of the main reasons are the lack of investment capital and lack of effective ways to mobilize community involvement. In contrast, during the 1970s, rural areas in Korea experienced huge improvements under the "Saemaul Undong" movement. The program's success at promoting sustainable development in Korea's rural areas has inspired rural programs in other developing countries. In this paper, we compare and contrast the two movements to provide explanations for the different results between the two countries. Based on this analysis, and policy implications stemming from it, we recommend resource mobilization strategies to change villagers' attitude and increase their involvement in Vietnam's rural development movement, aligning with the inclusivity principle "people know, people discuss, people do and people check".

Nowadays, the government, nongovernmental organizations, and educational institutions have come up with a variety of policies and objectives which are concerned about the importance of public design in the city. The project for integrated street environment in Sung-Nam at this time has started with the purpose to make the citizens' life safer and wealthier, and the purpose to improve the image of the nation. In the process of modernization, we must realize the overlooked problem(the thoughtless development for the environment and the threatening of the identity about the disagreed value and esthetic sense.) as our problem. We have focused on the suggestion of the road facilities suitable for urbanization which coincides with the quiet city and the global standards rather than pursuing the local growth and meaning. Based on the New Governance Design, we have presented the liberal design process which actively accepts the experts in a variety of fields. With the language of design, 'high-tech, self-restraint, and growth', we have made a homogeneous urban factor which is ideal for time and space.

Decrease in Population and graying of rural area by industrialization and urbanization are gone continuously. This makes happened various rural problems and the differential of standard of living with is arising day by day. Government is unfolding rural supporting project to solve continuously these problems. Recent Projects which are choosing not top-down process by government leading but bottom-up process through village inhabitants' participation and expert consultant get positive estimation. But those have difficulties because the support is attained only in the beginning step not continuously and inhabitants' number by graying is decreasing. The Special Economic Zone for Regional Development Policy is new access that regulation can differ according to special quality of each area depending on Localization Age. Through this transfer the competence that can mitigate or reinforce various regulations according to special quality of area in local government. So, back and maintain activation systematically so that each area could be developed specially. The purpose of The Special Economic Zone for Regional Development Policy is the activation of regional economy through development that regional specific character is. And there is characteristic that local government plans and takes the lead in all project contents, government gives regulation benefit by appointing the special economic zone and do not support finance and various tax remissions. Through investigation of such new policy, I wish to recognize what long-term plan and method could be possible to success rural activation continuously.
