  • Shannon and Weaver's semantic communication has been actively studied in recent years as a new communication method to provide intelligent mobile services without requiring more capacity, infrastructure, and energy, even with limited radio resources. Considered a breakthrough beyond the Shannon paradigm, semantic communication aims at successfully transmitting semantic information conveyed by a source rather than accurately receiving each symbol or bit, regardless of meaning. Thus, semantic communication can lead to knowledgeable systems that significantly reduce data traffic because the transmitter only transmits the necessary information related to a specific task. This study describes essential differences between existing and semantic communication, research trends related to semantic communication principles and theory, performance metrics of semantic communication, semantic communication system framework, and future research and development issues.

  • Among Japan's agriculture, forestry, fisheries and regional revitalization plans established in June 2018, the key matters related to aquaculture include ① a new perspective on the sponge use system for the development of aquaculture and coastal fisheries, ② a comprehensive strategy for growth and industrialization of aquaculture, and ③ expansion of suitable aquaculture areas. There are four countermeasures including ④ research and development trends. In accordance with these key points, the Japanese government established a comprehensive strategy for aquaculture growth and industrialization by strategically setting aquaculture items in consideration of domestic and international demand, establishing a comprehensive strategy from production to sales and export, and then working in earnest to promote the aquaculture industry. This study analyzes environmental changes surrounding aquaculture in Japan and trends in fish farming and marine products, and summarizes the key points of the June 2018 Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries and Regional Revitalization Plan to suggest measures that can be utilized in Korea's aquaculture policy.

  • Remarkable advances in nanomaterials and nanotechnology have led researchers in various fields. The scale effects imparted by nanomaterials are associated with unexpected macroscale phenomena and properties that find many applications. However, multi-functionalization may be accompanied by physical and commercial limitations. Therefore, research must proceed in several different directions. Here, we define multi-functionalization and the electrical applications thereof in terms of increasing performance, addition of new and valuable properties, and multi-physics in play. We deal with sensors, actuators, energy harvesters, and solar cells and explore research that seeks to increase sensitivity, append "stretchability", and facilitate untethered communication. Furthermore, we analyze research trends in materials use and manufacturing, and highlight useful fabrication methods. With the aim of predicting future research trends, our review presents a roadmap that will aid research on sensing and multi-functional applications.

  • Using the 'New material' concept has recently been introduced into the natural characteristics. In the course of such a, Janine M. Benyus has proposed to mimic the characteristics of natural ecosystems to mention the concept of Biomimicry. Process made engineered using technical elements for representing the material properties of Biomimicry such will be acting importantly, This study intends to analyze how new materials applied to 'Biomimicry' characteristics are processed in space. The results were as follows : 1) Processing methods of new materials resulted as 'Forming', 'Surface treatment', 'Bonding', 'Inserting'. These four were divided and analyzed into 'Form', 'System', 'Adaptation'. As a result of this analysis, such significances were shown as 'Forming/Surface treatment/Bonding' in 'Form', 'Bonding' in 'System' and 'Adaptation'. 2) 'Bonding' applied to 'System' of new material can be recycled to be combined with other materials through the existing adhesive material, and present as a solution of 'Sustainable development'. 3) 'Bonding' applied to 'Adaptation' of new material is to impart the ability to react to the environment through the joint, but is characteristic, at this time, using digital and other field technology. It appeared primarily that it can be known to meet the social trends and convergence between fields. Thus, as the finish that are friendly to the environment from the interior design, the results of the study are expected to be utilized in the study of new materials guidelines.
