  • Neutral atom temperature was measured by Laser Rayleigh scattering method using neutral depletion by neutral heating with ideal gas law in Inductively coupled plasma. We observed sudden pressure change when plasma is turned on and off. We analyzed mechanism of neutral heating by employing zero-dimensional neutral and ion energy balance model simultaneously. The results showed that neutral atom temperature increase with ion density. The mechanism of neutral atom heating and cooling is mainly dominated by ion-neutral collision including elastic and charge-exchange collision and by wall cooling respectively.

  • This study was carried out to investigate changes of the lipid contents and the fatty acid composition in shank during heating time and frozen storage. 1. The total lipid contents of raw shank were about 3.57% and decreased stepwise during heating time 30, 60, 90 min and frozen storage(24hrs) The contents of neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid were 70.71%, 6.36%, and 22.93% in raw shank, and neutral lipid contents were decreased, whereas Phospholipid contents were increased according to heating tide. In frozen storage, neutral lipid and glycolipid contents were increased, while phospholipid contents were decreased. 2. Lipids of shank possessed about 8 kinds of fatty acid as the constituent by gas-liquid chromatography analysis. The main fatty acids were oleic acid, palmitic acistearic acid and linoleic acid: the fatty acids of total lipids in raw shank were 43.48% of oleic acid, 23.13% of palmitic acid,12.00% of stearic acid and 6.75% of linoleic acid. Also the fatty acids were 43.32% of oleic acid, 23.26% of palmitic acid, 9.30% of stearic acid 2.15% of linoleic acid in neutral lipid, 22.63% of oleic acid, 8.44% of palmitic acid, 11.98% of stearic acid, 27.01% of linoleic acidin glycolipid, 39.38% of oleic acid, 15.89% of palmitic acid, 15.55% of stearic acid, 17.49% of linoleic acid in phospholipid. 3. The fatty acid pattern of total lipid, neutral lipid, glycolipid and phospholipid was not any changes, whereas there was a difference in the fatty acid contents: palmitic acid and stearic acid of total lipid were decreased in the 30 min and 60 min heating but increased in 90min heating, and linoleic acid of neutral lipid was increased stepwise during heating time and frozen storage. Also palmiict acid of glycolipid was increased gradually and linoleic acid in heating time 30, 60 min was higher than 90 min and frozen storage. Among fatty acids in phoapholipid, oleic acid was increased during heating time, while decreased in frozen storage, and linoleic acid was not any change but linolanic acid was increased. UFA/SFA of phospholipid was the highest when heating time was 60 min. From above results, it was found that when heating time was 60 min beneficial nutritionally, comparing with changes of fatty acid composition according to the heating time aid frozen storage.

  • During the manufacture of a ship, longitudinal deformation is produced by fillet welding on the BuiltUp beam used to improve the longitudinal strength of a ship. This deformation needs a correcting process separate from a manufacture process and decreases productivity and quality. This deformation is caused by welding moment, which is the value multiplied the shrinking force due to welding by the distance from the neutral axis on a cross section of BuiltUp beam. This deformation can be offset by generating a moment which is the same magnitude with and is located in an opposite direction to the welding moment on web plate by induction heating. Accordingly, this study clarifies the creation mechanism of the longitudinal deformation on BuiltUp beam with FEM analysis and presents the preventative method of this deformation by induction heating basing the mechanism and verifies its validity through analysis and experiments. The induction heating used here is performed by deciding its location and quantity with experiments and simple equations and by applying them to a real structure.

  • A large-area RF-driven ion source is being developed at Germany for the heating and current drive of ITER device. Negative hydrogen ion sources are major components of neutral beam injection (NBI) systems in future large-scale fusion experiments such as ITER and DEMO. The RF sources for the production of positive hydrogen ions have been successfully developed at IPP (Max-Planck-Institute for Plasma Physics), Garching, for the ASDEX-U and W7-AS neutral beam heating systems. Ion sources of the first NBI system (NBI-1) for the KSTAR tokamak have been developed successfully with a bucket plasma generator based on the filament arc discharge, which have contributed to achieve a good plasma performance such as 15 sec H-mode operation with an injection of 3.5 MW NB power. There is a development plan of RF ion source at the KAERI to extract the positive ions, which can be used for the second NBI system (NBI-2) of the KSTAR and to extract the negative ions for future fusion devices such as Fusion Neutron Source and Korea-DEMO. The development progresses of RF ion source at the KAERI are described in this presentation.

  • We investigated the optimal conditions for the manufacture of a rapid SiC heating element with increased durability for a flipchip bonder. In the moulding step prior to the sintering of the SiC heating element, a pressure of either 25 or 125 MPa wasapplied by uniaxial pressing to control the micropores; this was aimed at improving the resistance of the ultimate specimen. The moulded specimen was sintered by using a vacuum furnace with silicon as a sintering additive. The measurement of thehot modulus of rupture (HMOR) of the resulting SiC sintered body revealed that the HMOR was high. In addition, a methodfor protecting the heating element from the external environment was developed. A glassy coating layer was deposited on thesurface of the structure to improve the corrosion resistance of the sintered body; further, the performance of the coating layerwas verified through a neutral and acidic salt spray test. Finally, we established the optimal process conditions formanufacturing a rapid SiC heating element with improved corrosion resistance.

  • A novel deposition process for n-type nanocrystalline silicon (n-type nc-Si) thin films at room temperature has been developed by adopting the neutral beam assisted chemical vapor deposition (NBa-CVD). During formation of n-type nc-Si thin film by the NBa-CVD process with silicon reflector electrode at room temperature, the energetic particles could induce enhance doping efficiency and crystalline phase in polymorphous-Si thin films without additional heating on substrate; The dark conductivity and substrate temperature of P-doped polymorphous~nano crystalline silicon thin films increased with increasing the reflector bias. The NB energy heating substrate(but lower than $80^{\circ}C$ and increase doping efficiency. This low temperature processed doped nano-crystalline can address key problem in applications from flexible display backplane thin film transistor to flexible solar cell.
