We describe a new method for removing non-linear phased array antenna aberration called "squint" problem. To develop a compensation scheme. theoretical antenna and artificial neural networks were used. The purpose of using the artificial neural networks is to develop an antenna system model that represents the steering function of an actual array. The artificial neural networks are also used to implement an inverse model which when concatenated with the antenna or antenna model will correct the "squint" problem. Combining the actual steering function and the inverse model contained in the artificial neural network, alters the steering command to the antenna so that the antenna will point to the desired position instead of squinting. The use of an artificial neural network provides a method of producing a non-linear system that can correct antenna performance. This paper demonstrates the feasibility of generating an inverse steering algorithm with artificial neural networks.
The neural networks are a famous model to learn the nonlinear function or nonlinear system. The main point of neural network is that the difference actual output from desired output is used to update weights. Usually, the gradient descent method is used for the learning process. On training process, if learning rate is too large, neural networks hardly guarantee convergence of neural networks. On the other hand, if learning rate is too small, the training spends much time. Therefore, one major problem in use of neural networks are to decrease the teaming time while neural networks are guaranteed convergence. In this paper, we suggest the model of fuzzy logic to neural networks to calibrate learning rate. This method is to tune learning rate dynamically according to error and demonstrates the optimization of training.
The Purpose of this study is to present a new Trip Generation Model using Backpropagation Neural Networks. For this purpose, it is compared the performance between existing linear/nonlinear Regression models and a new TriP Generation model using Neural Networks. The study was performed according to the below. First, it is analyzed the limits of conventional Regression models, next Proved the superiority of Neural Networks model in theoretical and empirical aspects, and lastly Presented a new approach of Trip Generation methodology. The results show that Backpropagation Neural Networks model is predominant in estimation and Prediction comparable to Regression analysis. Such results mean the possibility of Neural Networks\` application in Trip Generation modeling. Specially under the circumstances of the chancing transportation situations and unstable transportation on vironments, its application in transportation fields will be extended.

This article suggests integrated neural network models for the interest rate forecasting using change point detection. The basic concept of proposed model is to obtain intervals divided by change point, to identify them as change-point groups, and to involve them in interest rate forecasting. the proposed models consist of three stages. The first stage is to detect successive change points in interest rate dataset. The second stage is to forecast change-point group with data mining classifiers. The final stage is to forecast the desired output with BPN. Based on this structure, we propose three integrated neural network models in terms of data mining classifier: (1) multivariate discriminant analysis (MDA)-supported neural network model, (2) case based reasoning (CBR)-supported neural network model and (3) backpropagation neural networks (BPN)-supported neural network model. Subsequently, we compare these models with a neural networks (BPN)-supported neural network model. Subsequently, we compare these models with a neural network model alone and, in addition, determine which of three classifiers (MDA, CBR and BPN) can perform better. This article is then to examine the predictability of integrated neural network models for interest rate forecasting using change-point detection.
In this paper, consolidation settlements with time at vertical drain sites were predicted by artificial neural networks. Laboratory test results and field measurements of two vertical drain sites were used for training and testing neural networks. Predicted consolidation settlements by trained artificial neural networks were compared with measured settlements by field instrumentation. To improve the prediction accuracy, modular artificial neural networks were studied. From the results of applying artificial neural networks to the same situation, it was shown that modular artificial neural network model was more accurate for the prediction of the consolidation settlements than the general model.

The goal of this research is to apply the neural networks model for the disaggregation of the pan evaporation (PE) data, Republic of Korea. The neural networks model consists of recurrent neural networks model (RNNM). The disaggregation means that the yearly PE data divides into the monthly PE data. And, for the performances of the neural networks model, it is composed of training and test performances, respectively. The training and test performances consist of the historic, the generated, and the mixed data, respectively. From this research, we evaluate the impact of RNNM for the disaggregation of the nonlinear time series data. We should, furthermore, construct the credible data of the monthly PE from the disaggregation of the yearly PE data, and can suggest the methodology for the irrigation and drainage networks system.

The research of climate change impact in hydrometeorology often relies on climate change information. In this paper, neural networks models such as generalized regression neural networks model (GRNNM) and multilayer perceptron neural networks model (MLP-NNM) are proposed statistical downscaling of the daily precipitation. The input nodes of neural networks models consist of the atmospheric meteorology and the atmospheric pressure data for 4 grid points including $127.5^{\circ}E/37.5^{\circ}N$, $127.5^{\circ}E/35^{\circ}N$, $125^{\circ}E/37.5^{\circ}N$ and $125^{\circ}E/35^{\circ}N$, respectively. The output node of neural networks models consist of the daily precipitation data for Seoul station. For the performances of the neural networks models, they are composed of training and test performances, respectively. From this research, we evaluate the impact of GRNNM and MLP-NNM performances for the downscaling of the daily precipitation data. We should, therefore, construct the credible daily precipitation data for Seoul station using statistical downscaling method. The proposed methods can be applied to future climate prediction/projection using the various climate change scenarios such as GCMs and RCMs.

To predict deep excavation wall movements is important in the urban areas considering the cost and the safety in construction. Failing to estimate deep excavation wall movements in advance causes too many problems in the projects. The purpose of this study is to propose the forecast model of deep excavation wall movements using artificial neural networks. The data of the Deep Excavation Wall Movements which were done form Long research is used of Artificial neural networks training and apply the real construction work measured data to the Artificial neural networks model. Applying the artificial neural networks to forecast the deep excavation wall movements can significantly contribute to identifying and preventing the accident in the overall construction work.

One of the most important roles in the nonlinear dynamic structural analysis is to select a proper ground excitation, which dominates the response of a structure. Because of the lack of recorded accelerograms in Korea, a stochastic model of ground excitation with various dynamic properties rather than recorded accelerograms is necessarily required. If all information is not available at site, the information from other sites with similar features can be used by the procedure of seismic hazard analysis. Eliopoulos and Wen identified the parameters of the ground motion model by the empirical relations or expressions developed by Trifunac and Lee. Because the relations used in the parameter identification are largely empirical, it is required to apply the artificial neural networks instead of the empirical model. Additionally, neural networks have the advantage of the empirical model that it can continuously re-train the new recorded data, so that it can adapt to the change of the enormous data. Based on the redefined traditional processes, three neural-networks-based models (FAS_NN, PSD_NN and INT_NN) are proposed to individually substitute the Fourier amplitude spectrum, the parameter identification of power spectral density function and intensity function. The paper describes the first half of the research for the development of Neural-Networks-based model for the generation of an Artificial earthquake and a Response Spectrum(NNARS).

In this paper the comparison between the neural networks and traditional approaches as nonlinear system identification methods are considered. Two model structures of neural networks are the state space model and the input output model neural networks. The traditional methods are the AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model and the Nonlinear AutoRegressive eXogeneous Input model. Computer simulation for an analytic dynamic model of a single input single output nonlinear system has been done for all the chosen models. Model validation for the obtained models also has been done with testing inputs of the sinusoidal, ramp and the noise ramp.
