  • This paper introduces a supplementary module reducing the standby-power of Power Line Communication(PLC) modem, one of the network equipments that take up much of the stand-by power. This supplementary module consists of three parts, such as a compare part, a control part, and a switch part. This supplementary module controls the power going from the power supply element into PLC modem, which brings about the effect of standby-power reduction. It is assured that over $30\%$ standby-power reduction is estimated when we applied this module to a low-speedy PLC control modem.

  • In this study, the vibration diagnosis program for onboard machinery has been developed. The developed program includes signal monitoring module, system diagnosis module, and system modification module. The signal monitoring module is to monitor the vibration signal in time and frequency domains. And the system diagnosis module, which is developed by using Neural Network with error back propagation algorithm, can detect the abnormal symptom indicating the malfunction of the machinery onboard ships. The investigations of the developed system are presented through the experiment using Rotor Kit. Abnormal vibration signals are created by adding additional weight, manually misaligning the shaft, and loosening the bolts.

  • In this study, we developed a co-located and space-shared multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna module with a modular design and high integration level. The proposed antenna pair includes a half-wavelength loop antenna and a dipole-type antenna printed on the front and back sides of a compact modular board. Owing to their modal orthogonality, these two independent antenna elements are highly self-isolated and free of additional decoupling components, even though they are assembled at the same location and within the same space. Thus, the proposed antenna is attractive in 5G MIMO systems. Furthermore, the proposed co-located and space-shared MIMO antenna module was employed in a 5G smartphone to verify their radiation and diversity performances. A 12 × 12 MIMO antenna system was simulated and fabricated using the proposed module. Based on the results, the proposed module can be employed in large-scale MIMO antenna systems for current and future terminal devices owing to its high integration, compactness, simple implementation, and inherent isolation.

  • This paper presents an integrated control module for controlling transportation machine and automatic navigation using a combined technology of mobile telematics and transportation machine telematics, i.e. Mobile In Vehicle (MIV). This development includes hardware implementation and its verification of control mechanism applied to vehicle. In particular, the module is designed to be versatile in such a way that it can collect various information and facilitate various options for convenience by supporting existing networks, such as TCP/IP, Wi-Fi and 3G mobile radio networks. The study offers its versatility, intelligence and cost-effectiveness by enabling the module to support network-independent service, whereas conventional modules operate only in a certain network. Based on this module, a multiple of subsequent convenient functions for transportation machine can further be developed for safe and intelligent transportation machines.

  • We have implemented the telecommunication management functions based on TMN (Telecommunications Management Network) architecture that is standardized by ISO/ITU-T. TMN has been developed to manage heterogeneous networks, services and equipment. In this paper, we first analyze the detailed functions of EMS (Element Management System) that performs core functions in the subnetwork management of TMN architecture. We propose an implementation method of EMS for efficient subnetwork management and verify its performance and functionality through detailed implementation and various testing. The proposed EMS consists of EML-Manager module and NML-Agent module. The EML-Manager module controls NEL (Network Element Layer) through the CMIP operations on the managed-objects. The NML-Agent module processes the requests from NMS (Network Management System) in upper layer. We have implemented NMS that performs only the NML-Manager function to test the proposed EMS, and we have used NE-Agent that was designed and implemented by the B-ISDN Lab. of Yeungnam University. The implemented EMS has three management functions: configuration management function, performance management function, and fault management function. We confirmed that the EMS operated normally as we tested the EMS. As further research works, the implementation of NMS with both NML-Manager function and SML-Agent function is required.

  • As Ubiquitous era comes, it became necessary to construct environment which can provide more useful information to human in the spaces where people live like homes or offices. On this account, network of the peripheral devices of Ubiquitous should constitute efficiently. For it, this paper researched human pattern by classified motion recognition using sensors module data. (This data processing by Neural network and fuzzy algorithm.) This pattern classification can help control home network system communication. I suggest the system which can control home network system more easily through patterned movement, and control Ubiquitous environment by grasp human's movement and condition.

  • IPv6 defines relation between surrounding node using Neighbor Discovery protocol. Used Neighbor Discovery messages, grasp surrounding node, include important informations about network. These network information outcrops can give rise in network attack and also service that use network will paralysis. Various kinds of security limitation was found in Present Neighbor Discovery protocol therefore security function to supplement this problem was required. In this thesis, Secure Neighbor Discovery protocol that add with suity function was design and embody by CGA module and SEND module.

  • Recently in industry communication, the efforts that use robot and automation system increased by cooperation with optical communication and industrial Ethernet. In this paper, in order to solve the problem that total network blocking when network fault happens and wiring problem of optical cable, which were big serious disadvantage in industrial optical network systems, we propose bi-directional optical EtherCAT communication technique based on single optical core, which applying WDM method. We describe the content for implementation of WDM bi-directional optical EtherCAT communication module and performance evaluation to verify the performance of related technology as a whole.

  • A wireless sensor network (WSN) is designed and implemented for a freeze dryer. Freeze-drying technology is widely used in the fields of pharmacy and biotechnology as well as the food and agriculture industries. Taking into account the demand for high-resolution pressure and temperature measurements in a freeze dryer, the proposed WSN has a significant advantage of creating a monitoring environment in a freeze dryer. The proposed WSN uses a ZigBee/IEEE 802.15.4 network with an altimeter module that contains a high-resolution pressure and temperature sensor with a serial digital data interface. The ZigBee network is suitable for low-energy and low-data-rate applications in the field of wireless communication. The altimeter module is capable of sensing pressure in the range of 7.5-975 Torr (10-1300 mbar) and temperature in the range of $-40^{\circ}C$ to $125^{\circ}C$ with a DC power consumption of $3{\mu}W$. The implemented WSN is installed in a commercial laboratory freeze dryer in order to demonstrate its functionality and efficiency. A comparison with the temperature profile measured by a thermocouple installed in the freeze dryer reveals that the resolution of the temperature profile measured by WSN is superior to that measured by the thermocouple.
