The purpose of this study examines the interrelationships among antecedents and consequences of privacy concern on the online-shopping mall. Based on relevant literature review, a customer's attitude toward direct marketing, a customer's desire to information control, and a customer's prediction of negative effect as antecedents that affect the privacy concern. Also, consequences are a firm's reputation and a customer's purchase experience. Then related hypotheses were tested using data from 165 online shopping mall customer. The results for empirical analysis are as follows; 1) a customer's attitude toward direct marketing affected negatively the privacy concern, 2) a customer's desire to information control and a customer's prediction of negative effect affected positively the privacy concern, 3) a firm's reputation negatively related to the privacy concern, 4) a customer's purchase experience positively related to a firm's reputation.

The artificial intelligence speaker market is in a new age of mounting displays. This study aimed to analyze the difference of experience using artificial intelligent speakers in terms of usage context, according to the presence or absence of displays. This was achieved by using semantic network analysis to determine how the online review texts of Amazon Echo Show and Echo Plus consisted of different UX issues with structural differences. Based on the physical context and the social context of the user experience, the ego network was constructed to draw out major issues. Results of the analysis show that users' expectation gap is generated according to the display presence, which can lead to negative experiences. Also, it was confirmed that the Multimodal interface is more utilized in the kitchen than in the bedroom, and can contribute to the activation of communication among family members. Based on these findings, we propose a user experience strategy to be considered in display type speakers to be launched in Korea in the future.
Since the emergence of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), medical schools have experienced a sudden, full-scale transition to online classes. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, it is important to evaluate current educational programs and to assess their implications. This study explored perceptions of online classes and learning behavior among medical students. Twenty preclinical medical students were interviewed in focus groups for 2 months. They generally expressed positive perceptions about online classes, and in particular, positively assessed the ability to lead their individual lifestyles and study in comfortable environments with fewer time and space constraints. Students thought that the online environment provided a fair chance of facilitating positive interactions with the professor and considered communication with the professor to be an important factor only when it was related to the class content or directly helped with their grades and careers. Students also had negative views, such as feeling uncertain when they could not see their peers' learning progress and assess themselves in comparison and feeling social isolation. Learning behaviors have also changed, as students explored their learning styles and adapted to the changed learning environment. Students expanded their learning by using online functions. However, students sometimes abused the online class format by "just playing" the lecture while not paying attention and relying on other students' lecture transcripts to study. The results of this study are hoped to provide a useful foundation for future research on online class-based teaching and learning.
In a backlash against corporate branding and capitalism, a growing number of consumers are resisting current marketplace practices and big corporate brands. One particular form of this phenomenon is the emergence of anti-brand communities in social media. The current study, which surveyed a sample of 251 anti-brand community members on Facebook, provides a preliminary understanding of the characteristics and antecedents of anti-brand communities as a new platform for consumer empowerment and anti-brand activism. Findings suggest that consumers' engagement in online anti-brand communities, especially through social media, may be triggered by their negative experiences with employees, product quality, post-purchase service, and value/price. They are motivated, the results show, by seven primary factors: altruism, revenge, advice seeking, convenience, sympathy seeking, socialization, and the need to vent.
As game industry prospers, the negative side of games becomes highlighted as well as its contributions to economy growth. In spite of strong arguments for the necessity to regulations as a means to decrease addiction or overindulgence, research has produced future suggestions rather than quantifiable evidence. In this paper, we propose adopting a simulation approach in addition to quantitative approaches to better understand optimal regulatory levels since a simulation approach can visualize unexpected side effects of regulations. In this study, we suggest the application of an agent-based model (ABM) as a smart service to measure the effects of regulatory policies. We review cases applying ABM in various domains and consider the possibility of using an ABM to understand the effectiveness of web board-game regulations. We find that the ABM approach would be useful in several areas, such as the analysis of regulatory effects that reflect a variety of characteristics, the measurement of micro-regulatory effects, and the simulation of regulations.
Sociability is an inherent part of human life and also possesses an important value as a comprehensive ability. While the lack of sociability has been pointed out as a representative problem of game use in general, this paper analyzed studies on the relationship between online video games and social competence. In this field, the view that the relationship in the online game may replace or complement the actual relationship and will potentially hinder the development of sociability currently faces a conflict with the opinion that online video games may not directly have a negative effect on sociability but rather result in a positive outcome by providing a social learning space. In a large scale survey that measured the use of online games, psychological characteristics, and social competence, no distinct relationship between game use and degradation of sociability was observed. Based on this analysis, we suggest that efforts are necessary to break away from the stereotype that online game play may cause a decline in sociability and to improve the validity of related research.
Individuals gather information online to resolve problems in their daily lives and make various decisions about the purchase of products or services. With the revolutionary development of information technology, Web 2.0 has allowed more people to easily generate and use online reviews such that the volume of information is rapidly increasing, and the usefulness and significance of analyzing the unstructured data have also increased. This paper presents an analysis on the lexical features of expert product reviews to determine their influence on consumers' purchasing decisions. The focus was on how unstructured data can be organized and used in diverse contexts through text mining. In addition, diverse lexical features of expert reviews of contents provided by a third-party review site were extracted and defined. Expert reviews are defined as evaluations by people who have expert knowledge about specific products or services in newspapers or magazines; this type of review is also called a critic review. Consumers who purchased products before the widespread use of the Internet were able to access expert reviews through newspapers or magazines; thus, they were not able to access many of them. Recently, however, major media also now provide online services so that people can more easily and affordably access expert reviews compared to the past. The reason why diverse reviews from experts in several fields are important is that there is an information asymmetry where some information is not shared among consumers and sellers. The information asymmetry can be resolved with information provided by third parties with expertise to consumers. Then, consumers can read expert reviews and make purchasing decisions by considering the abundant information on products or services. Therefore, expert reviews play an important role in consumers' purchasing decisions and the performance of companies across diverse industries. If the influence of qualitative data such as reviews or assessment after the purchase of products can be separately identified from the quantitative data resources, such as the actual quality of products or price, it is possible to identify which aspects of product reviews hamper or promote product sales. Previous studies have focused on the characteristics of the experts themselves, such as the expertise and credibility of sources regarding expert reviews; however, these studies did not suggest the influence of the linguistic features of experts' product reviews on consumers' overall evaluation. However, this study focused on experts' recommendations and evaluations to reveal the lexical features of expert reviews and whether such features influence consumers' overall evaluations and purchasing decisions. Real expert product reviews were analyzed based on the suggested methodology, and five lexical features of expert reviews were ultimately determined. Specifically, the "review depth" (i.e., degree of detail of the expert's product analysis), and "lack of assurance" (i.e., degree of confidence that the expert has in the evaluation) have statistically significant effects on consumers' product evaluations. In contrast, the "positive polarity" (i.e., the degree of positivity of an expert's evaluations) has an insignificant effect, while the "negative polarity" (i.e., the degree of negativity of an expert's evaluations) has a significant negative effect on consumers' product evaluations. Finally, the "social orientation" (i.e., the degree of how many social expressions experts include in their reviews) does not have a significant effect on consumers' product evaluations. In summary, the lexical properties of the product reviews were defined according to each relevant factor. Then, the influence of each linguistic factor of expert reviews on the consumers' final evaluations was tested. In addition, a test was performed on whether each linguistic factor influencing consumers' product evaluations differs depending on the lexical features. The results of these analyses should provide guidelines on how individuals process massive volumes of unstructured data depending on lexical features in various contexts and how companies can use this mechanism from their perspective. This paper provides several theoretical and practical contributions, such as the proposal of a new methodology and its application to real data.
Many studies have proposed several factors that affect review helpfulness. Previous studies have investigated the effect of quantitative factors (e.g., star ratings) and affective factors (e.g., sentiment scores) on review helpfulness. Online reviews contain titles and contents, but existing studies focus on the review content. However, there is a limitation to investigating the factors that affect review helpfulness based on the review content without considering the review title. However, previous studies independently investigated the effect of review content and title on review helpfulness. However, it may ignore the potential impact of similarity between review titles and content on review helpfulness. This study used text consistency between review titles and content affect review helpfulness based on the mere exposure effect theory. We also considered the role of information clearness, review length, and source reliability. The results show that text consistency between the review title and the content negatively affects the review helpfulness. Furthermore, we found that information clearness and source reliability weaken the negative effects of text consistency on review helpfulness.

In this study, I analyzed the inducing and hindering factors of online shopping malls on browsers in the process of browsing fashion products in online shopping malls. In-depth interviews were conducted by presenting browsing-related questions to women in their 20s and 50s who are interested in browsing fashion products online. Based on the answers of the interviewees, using grounded theory, we analyzed and presented six factors such as price factor, promotion factor, purchase review factor, visual information factor, product information factor, and service factor. Based on inducing and hindering factors to browsing analyzed in this study, a strategy to design a browsing environment in terms of shopping malls was suggested, which will be helpful for practical strategies and marketing in related industries. Basic data will be presented in a thesis on a new type of shopping mall browsing environment related to the rapidly developing information and communication technology. In addition, the negative emotions experienced in relation to the detrimental factors of shopping malls in the browsing process are expected to be helpful in researching fashion product browsing related to consumer psychology.
The purpose of paper is to confirm the role of E-WOM(Electronic Worth of Mouth) in decision making of selecting the mobile application via smart-phone or tablet pc. Particularly i wished to confirm the effects of others' positive or negative reviews in purchasing(free downloading) mobile applications. To resolve these research questions, the secondary data or previous research were collected and arranged theoretically. From literature research, i made out the proposed model to explain the relationships between the variables, executed the operational definitions and 14 Hypotheses were established, collected the survey data of 228 mobile application users. Using the empirical test analysis, previous performances to confirm the construct validity and internal consistency and PLS(Partial Least Square) modelling method was executed. The test result showed that proposed relations of variables was empirically identified, therefore, i got the conclusion as followings; First, attributes of mobile application users' reviews have the effects positively to usefulness perception and expected performance. Second, it was significantly tested Usefulness of Online Review and Expected Performance. Second, Usefulness of Online Review, Source Credibility and Expected Performance have effect positively to Intention of Review Adoption.
