Auto-Tuning of Reference Model Based PID Controller Using Immune Algorithm

  • In this paper auto-tuning scheme of PID controller based on the reference model has been studied for a Process control system by immune algorithm. Up to this time, many sophisticated tuning algorithms have been tried in order to improve the PID controller performance under such difficult conditions. Also, a number of approaches have been proposed to implement mixed control structures that combine a PID controller with fuzzy logic. However, in the actual plant, they are manually tuned through a trial and error procedure, and the derivative action is switched off. Therefore, it is difficult to tune. Since the immune system possesses a self organizing and distributed memory, it is thus adaptive to its external environment and allows a PDP (Parallel Distributed Processing) network to complete patterns against the environmental situation. Simulation results reveal that reference model basd tuning by immune network suggested in this paper is an effective approach to search for optimal or near optimal process control.

  • Multiple tuned mass dampers (MTMDs) tuned to various frequencies have been shown to efficiently control the seismic response of structures where multiple modes are dominant. One example is irregular structures that are found more vulnerable than their symmetric counterparts. With the technology of MTMDs available, design and optimal design methodologies are required for application. Such a methodology, in the form of an analysis/redesign (A/R) scheme, has been previously presented by the authors while limiting responses of interest to allowable values, i.e., performance-based design (PBD). In this paper, the A/R procedure is modified based on formal optimality criteria, making it more cost efficient, as well as more computationally efficient. It is shown that by using the methodology presented herein, a desired performance level is successfully targeted by adding near-optimal amounts of mass at various locations and tuning the TMDs to dampen several of the structure's frequencies. This is done using analysis tools only.

  • In this paper, to improve spectral efficiency and mitigate interference in coordinated millimeter-wave systems, we proposes an optimal user group and beam selection scheme. The proposed scheme improves spectral efficiency by mitigating intra- and inter-cell interferences (ICI). By examining the effective channel capacity for all possible user combinations, user combinations and beams with minimized ICI can be selected. However, implementing this in a dense environment of cells and users requires highly complex computational abilities, which we have investigated applying multiclass classifiers based on machine learning. Compared with the conventional scheme, the numerical results show that our proposed scheme can achieve near-optimal performance, making it an attractive option for these systems.

  • Genetic algorithm(GA) is applied for detecting multiple outliers. GA is a heuristic optimization tool solving for near optimal solution. We compare the performance of GA and the other diagnostic measures commonly used for detecting outliers in regression model. The results show that GA seems to have better performance than the others for the detection of multiple outliers.

  • This paper proposes a path planning algorithm for dispensers to increase the productivity in printed circuit board assembly lines. We analyze the assembly sequence of the dispenser, and formulate it as an integer programming problem. The mathematical formulation can accomodate multiple heads and different types of heads through extended cost matrix. The TSP algorithms are then applied to the formulated problem to find the near-optimal solution. Simulation results are presented to verify the usefulness of the proposed scheme.

  • 자율이동로봇의 기구학 및 동력학 모델을 통해 로봇의 특성을 고려하여 목표점까지 이동시간이 최소화 되는 경로 생성 방법을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 초기 전역 경로를 골격선 그래프와 딕스트라알고리즘으로 설정하고, 로봇 기구학 및 동력학 제악조건을 고려하여 동적 프로그래밍으로 경로를 개선한다. 개선된 경로는 자율이동로봇이 이동하는데 걸리는 시간을 단축한다. 마지막으로 시뮬레이션을 통해 제안하는 방법의 성능을 검증한다.

  • In this numerical study, characteristics of swirl generation by the fan and selection of the location of the fan was studied theoretically by the PHOENICS soft ware. The governing equations for the system are solved by means of the three dimensional version of the SIMPLE algorithm and STAGGERED grid. From the present results, the optimal position of the fan is 0.625($\ell$/L). Here we can survey the big swirl near the fan.

  • This paper considers the sequencing problem in mixed model assembly lines with hybrid workstation types and sequence-dependent setup times. Computation time is often a critical factor in choosing a method of determining the sequence. We develop a mathematical formulation of the problem to minimize the overall length of a line, and present a tabu search technique which can provide a near optimal solution in real time. The proposed technique is compared with a genetic algorithm and a branch-and-bound method. Experimental results are reported to demonstrate the efficiency of the technique.

  • In this paper, a new design technique which uses weighted least-sqare approach for the solution of the pole assignment problem is represented. This technique maybe used to assign some closed loop poles to places which reduce the large system input and output variance due to near pole-zero condition. The least-square approach is also applied to the design of servo self-tuning controller with integrator.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 대규모 선형 시불변 계통에 대한 합성 제어기의 설계에 관한 새로운 방법을 제시하기 위한 것이다. 주어진 계통을 행렬 부호 함수를 이용하여 그 고유치의 크기에 따라 블럭 대각 분해하고 각부 계통에 대한 최적 제어기 및 전체계통에 대한 준최적 합성 제어기를 설계한다. 이 방법은 주어진 계통의 고유치를 미리 알 필요가 없으며 계통의 블력 분해 과정에서 Riccati 방정식및 Lyapunov 방정식의 해를 구할 필요가 없고 특이섭등 기법이나 Two time scale seperation 방법에서의 제약조건에 관계없이 광범위하게 적용되는 장점이 있다.
