  • The performance of Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chipset and Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) sensors embedded in smartphones for location-based services (LBS) is limited due to the economic reasons for their mass production. Therefore, it is necessary to efficiently process the output data of the smartphone's embedded sensors in order to derive the optimum navigation values and, as a previous step, output performance of smartphone embedded sensors needs to be verified. This paper analyzes the navigation performance of such devices by processing the raw measurements data output from smartphones. For this, up-to-dated versions of smartphones provided by Samsung (Galaxy s10e) and Xiaomi (Mi 8) are used in the test experiment to compare their performances and characteristics. The GNSS and IMU data are extracted and saved by using an open market application software (Geo++ RINEX Logger & Mobile MATLAB), and then analyzed in post-processing manner. For GNSS chipset, data is extracted from static environments and verified the position, Carrier-to-Noise (C/N0), Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) performance. For IMU sensor, the validity of navigation and various location-based-services is predicted by extracting, storing and analyzing data in static and dynamic environments.

  • Modularized GPS software defined radio (SDR) has many advantages of applying and modifying algorithm. Hardware based GPS receiver uses many hardware parts (such as RF front, correlators, CPU and other peripherals) that process tracked signal and navigation data to calculate user position, while SDR uses software modules, which run on general purpose CPU platform or embedded DSP. SDR does not have to change hardware part and is not limited by hardware capability when new processing algorithm is applied. The weakness of SDR is that software correlation takes lots of processing time. However, in these days the evolution of processing power of MPU and DSP leads the competitiveness of SDR against the hardware GPS receiver. This paper shows a study of modulization of GPS software platform and it presents development of the GNSS software platform using MATLAB Simulink™. We focus on post processing SDR platform which is usually adapted in research area. The main functions of SDR are GPS signal acquisition, signal tracking, decoding navigation data and calculating stand alone user position from stored data that was down converted and sampled intermediate frequency (IF) data. Each module of SDR platform is categorized by function for applicability for applying for other frequency and GPS signal easily. The developed software platform is tested using stored data which is down-converted and sampled IF data file. The test results present that the software platform calculates user position properly.

  • The navigation and EDR(Event Data Recorder) have a different roles but also a lot of similar or common functions and elements. A representative element is a GPS. The GPS of navigation is a more higher than the that of EDR in performance. The high performance GPS has a very short initialization time and more accurate than the GPS of EDR. And the informations of OBD(On Board Diagnostics) is able to be shared in navigation and EDR. But these inter-working product between the navigation and EDR has been not yet shown. So, this paper is aimed to show how to interwork in two devices. We utilize USB bulk communication in two devices for inter-working. It is very simple ways and it could interwork in GPS, event video and ODB II data. It could be effective in cost competence and convenience. These was implemented by hardware and software and proved by the standard test.

  • In this paper, design and implementation issues for a network-oriented RF emitter localization system with array antenna are discussed. For hardware, the problem of array mismatch and RF/IF channel mismatch are introduced and the calibration schemes for solving those problems are also provided. For software, it is explained how to overcome the drawback of conventional MUltiple Signal Identification and Classification (MUSIC) algorithm in a point of identifying the number of received signals and problems such as Data Association Problem and Ghost Node Problem in regard to multiple emitter localization are presented with some approaches for getting around those problems. Finally, for implementation, a criterion for arranging each of sensors and a requirement for alignment of array antenna' orientation are also given.

  • In this paper, a fully reconfigurable Software Defined Radio (SDR) for multi-constellation and multi-frequency Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers is presented. The reconfigurability with respect to the data structure, variability of signal and receiver parameters, and receiver's internal functionality is presented. The configuration file, that is modified to lead to an entirely different operation of the SDR in response to specific target signal scenarios, directly determines the operating characteristics of the SDR. In this manner, receiver designers can effectively reduce the effort to develop many different combinations of multi-constellation and/or multi-frequency GNSS receivers. Finally, the implementation of the presented fully reconfigurable SDR is included with the experimental processing results such as acquisition, tracking, navigation for the received signals in the realistic fields.

  • The Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) becomes more important and is applied to various systems. Recently, the Galileo navigation system is being developed in Europe. Also, other countries like China, Japan and India are developing the global/regional navigation satellite system. As various global/regional navigation satellite systems are used, the navigation ground system gets more important for using the navigation system reasonably and efficiently. According to this trend, the technology of GNSS Ground Station (GGS) is developing in many fields. The one of purposes for this study is to develop the high precision receiver for GNSS sensor station and to provide ground infrastructure for better performance services on navigation system. In this study, we consider the configuration of GNSS Ground Station and analyze function of Monitoring and Control subsystem which is a part of GNSS Ground Station. We propose Monitoring and Control subsystem which contains the navigation software for GNSS Ground System to monitor and control equipments in GNSS Ground Station, to spread the applied field of navigation system, and to provide improved navigation information to user.

  • Systematic components for implementing ubiquitous computing, for example, electronic devices, electric home appliances, and controllers, etc, are consist of not only circuits but also softwares expected to do some special system-controlling functions, and these softwares used to be called like as embedded software. Because embedded software is a core component controlling systems, the codes or control flows should be protected from being opened to the public or modified. Embedded software security can be divided into 2 parts: first is the unauthorized access to development site and embedded software, second is the unauthorized disclosure or modification. And this research is related to the first aspect of them. This paper proposes some security check requirements related to embedded software development site by analyzing the ALC_DVS.1 of the ISO/IEC 15408 and Base Practices (BPs) of the ISO/IEC 21827. By applying this research, we expect to protect unauthorized modification of embedded software indirectly.

  • In this paper, multi-GNSS network RTK MAC correction generation software developed based on MATLAB GUI is introduced. The software was developed as a post-processing software based on simulation data to evaluate the feasibility of an algorithm for generating correction for multi-GNSS including GPS, GLONASS, and Galileo. As a result of software operation, network RTK correction for each system of multi-GNSS is output in MATLAB file format. In this paper, to evaluate the performance of the developed software, the residual error was analyzed after applying the correction generated through the software to the user. As a result of the analysis, it was confirmed that effective network RTK correction could be generated by confirming that the residual errors of users were maintained at 10 cm or less.
