$PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ were collected at the Gosan Site on Jeju Island from 2013 to 2015, and their ionic and elemental species were analyzed to examine the variations in their chemical compositional characteristics related to different meteorological conditions. Concentrations of nss-$SO_4{^{2-}}$ and $NH_4{^+}$ were respectively 6.5 and 4.7 times higher in the fine particle mode ($PM_{2.5}$) compared to the coarse particle mode ($PM_{10-2.5}$), however $NO_3{^-}$ concentrations were 2.4 times higher in the coarse mode compared to the fine particle mode. During Asian dust days, the concentrations of nss-$Ca^{2+}$ and $NO_3{^-}$ increased to 8.2 and 5.0 times higher in $PM_{10}$, and 3.5 and 6.0 times higher in $PM_{2.5}$, respectively. During haze days, the concentrations of secondary pollutants increased by 3.1-4.7 and 3.2-7.9 in $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$, respectively, and they were, respectively, 1.2-2.1 and 0.9-2.1 times higher on mist days. The aerosols were acidified largely by sulfuric and nitric acids, and neutralized mainly by ammonia in the fine particle mode during the haze days, but neutralized by calcium carbonate in coarse particle mode during the Asian dust days. Clustered back trajectory analysis showed that concentrations of nss-$SO_4{^{2-}}$, $NO_3{^-}$, and $NH_4{^+}$ were relatively high when air masses travelled from China.

A methodology to nondestructively locate and estimate size of damage in beam-type structures using a few natural frequencies or a few mode shapes is presented. A damage-localization algorithm to locate damage from changes in natural frequencies and a damage-sizing algorithm to estimate crack-size from natural frequency perturbation are outlined. A damage index algorithm to localize and estimate severity of damage from monitoring changes in mode shapes is outlined. The frequency-based method and the mode-shape-based method are evaluated for several damage scenarios by locating and sizing damage in PS concrete beams lot which a few natural frequencies and mode shapes are generated from finite element models. The result of the analyses indicates that the two methods correctly localize and closely estimate the size of the crack simulated in the test beam.

This study dealt with the free vibration of two identical rectangular plates coupled with fluid. In order to investigate the vibration characteristics of fluid-coupled rectangular plates, an analytical method based on the finite Fourier series expansion and Rayleigh-Ritz method was suggested. A commercial computer code, ANSYS was used to perform finite element analysis and we investigated the vibration characteristics with mode shapes and natural frequencies. As a result, the transverse vibration modes, in-phase and out-of-phase, were observed alternately in the fluid-coupled system. The effect of fluid bounding and plate boundary condition on the fluid-coupled natural frequency were investigated. It was shown that the mode numbers increased, the normalized natural frequencies monotonically increased.

The presence of a damage, such as a crack, in a structure increases the flexibility and damping in the structure. Most of methods to detect damage or damage location uses stiffness matrix of the structural system. The modification of stiffness matrix, however, has complicated procedures to identify structural. system in the basis of finite element model and has too many degree of freedom to calculate. Identification of changes of flexibility of structure can offer damage information immediately and simple procedure can employ real time continuous monitoring system. To identify changes of the flexibility, vibration mode shapes and natural frequencies are usually used. In this paper, a procedure for damage location in continuous girder bridges using vibration data is described. The effectiveness and sensitivity of the presented method to measurement errors in mode shapes and natural frequencies are investigated using analytical results from finite element models. It is shown that the errors in the first mode shape and first natural frequency demonstrate much larger influence than those in the higher mode shapes and modal frequencies.

Direct numerical simulation (DNS) is performed to investigate suppressed wake transition and occurrence of lock-on in the wake of a circular cylinder disturbed by sinusoidal perturbation at the Reynolds number of 220 (A-mode instability regime). The sinusoidal perturbation, of which the frequency is near twice the natural shedding frequency, is superimposed on the free stream velocity. It is shown that the wake transition behind the circular cylinder can be suppressed due to the perturbation of the free stream velocity. This change causes a jump in the Strouhal number from the value corresponding to A-mode instability regime to the value corresponding to retarded wake transition regime (extrapolated from laminar shedding regime) in the Strouhal-Reynolds number relationship. As a result, vortex shedding frequency is locked on the perturbation frequency depending not on the natural shedding frequency but on the modified shedding frequency.

In this paper, in order to analyze dynamic characteristics of automobile steering system consisting of many components, natural frequencies and transfer functions of each component and total system are found on FFT by experiments. Then, the data are transmitted to commercial package program, CADA-PC. By analyzing the data, the mode shape of each natural frequency and damping values are obtained. Also, the function of rubber coupling in column and telescoping effects on system are considered. C.A.E commercial program are used to compare with the results of experiments. For finite element modeling, I-DEAS is used. Data processing and post processing are operated on NASTRAN and XL, respectively. The ball-bearing and the linkage of shaft with column are modeled by spring elements. Stiffness is modified from the results of experiments. The results of those show close agreement. In the mode shape of total system, wheel mode is dominant at lower frequency while the column mode is main mode at higher . The role of rubber coupling in vibration isolation is clear on mode shape. Telescoping function makes natural frequency of column changed.

This study analyze the dynamic response property of latticed domes according to natural frequency ratio of substructure. Through eigenvalue analysis, it is was confirmed that the half-open angle $30^{\circ}$ and $45^{\circ}$ dominate vibration mode of the vertical direction and the half-open angle $60^{\circ}$ and $90^{\circ}$ dominate vibration mode of the horizontal direction. Through the dynamic response analysis, it is was confirmed that the first frequency about total structure largely appears about the vertical and the horizontal direction regardless of half-open angle.
Ambient vibration tests were carried out to evaluate the dynamic properties of an asymmetric steel building with semi-rigid connections. The test case has many non-structural elements, constructed in the city of Tehran (Iran). The tests were conducted to obtain natural frequencies, mode shapes and damping ratio of the structure and then Fourier transform were used to analyze the velocity records obtained from the tests. The first and second natural periods of the building were obtained as 1.37 s and 1.28 s through the test and damping ratio for the first mode was calculated as 0.047. However, Natural periods obtained from finite element model have higher values from those gained from ambient vibration. Then the model was calibrated by modeling of the in-fill masonry panels at their exact locations and considering the boundary conditions by modeling two blocks near the block No. 3, but the differences were existed. These differences may be due to some hidden stiffness of nonstructural elements in the low range of elastic behavior, showing the structure stiffer than it is in reality.

Localized damage to a structure affects its dynamic properties, and much work has been undertaken investigating the variation of natural frequencies, damping ratios and mode shapes. This paper presents a technique based on wavelet transform to detect the existences and locations of structural damages. The procedure operates solely on the mode shape from the damaged structure, and does not require a priori knowledge of the undamaged structure. The procedure is developed using a 32-story shear building model. Applying wavelet transform to the mode shape successfully identifies the location of damage. The procedure is best suited to the mode shape obtained from the fundamental natural frequency. The wavelet coefficients from the higher mode shapes can be used to verify the location of damage, but they are not as sensitive as the wavelet coefficients of the lower mode shapes.
The internal structure is subjected to dynamic analysis due to the structural integrity. The internal structure shall be installed in the vertical hole call IR1 of reactor core. In order to verify the deflection of the internal structure, the mode and response spectrum analysis of the internal structure was performed. The natural frequency of the internal structure is 11.6 Hz(mode 1 and 2) and deflections of the internal structure are less than values of allowable design (3.2 mm).
