온도차 자연환기 이론의 유량계수에 대한 연구 (A Study of Discharge Coefficient for Thermal Buoyancy Natural Ventilation)

  • This study reviews the discharge coefficient for thermal buoyancy natural ventilation through experimentation. We measure the air velocity at the outlet, which is needed to derive the discharge coefficient and to compare with the theoretical value. When a temperature difference exists between the inside and outside of the building, the measured discharge coefficient differs from the theoretical value with a maximum difference of 12%. The size and position of the openings have little effect on the discharge coefficient. For practical application, the theoretical discharge coefficient can be used with little modification.

Study of screw loosening in cementation type implant abutment

  • The purpose of this study was to compare the screw loosening characteristics of three avail-able cementation type abutments: one-piece cementation type abutment; two-piece cementation type abutment using titanium abutment screw; two-piece cementation type abutment using gold abutment screw. Two implant supported three-unit superstructures were fabricated using a pair of 3 kinds of abutments for each experimental model. Cyclic loading was applied on the specimen, and made to stop when the superstructure showed movement over threshold range. The loaded cycle was counted until the machine stopped. Frequency analysis was done to measure the change of natural frequency before and after the application of cyclic load and to find the effect of screw loosening on the change of natural frequency. The specimen assembly was modeled to perform the finite element analysis to see the distribution of the stress induced by the application of preload over the screw joint and to compare the pattern of the distribution of stress induced by the external force with the change of the preload condition. The following results were obtained: 1. The failure loading cycle of two-piece cementation type abutment using gold screw was significantly greater than those of the other groups. 2. One-piece cementation type abutment applied to multi-unit restoration case did not show greater resistance to screw loosening compared to two-piece cementation type abutments. 3. Frequency analysis showed decrease in natural frequency when screw loosening occured.

Electric Field Dependence Experiments and ab Initio Calculations of Three Cytosine Tautomers in Superfluid Helium Nanodroplets

  • We report the first electric field dependence IR spectra of three cytosine tautomers solvated in helium nanodroplets. By using an electric field dependence on the three lowest energy tautomers of cytosine and ab initio calculations, we are able to measure the vibrational transition moment angles (VTMAs), specifically for the $NH_2$ symmetric stretch (SS) mode in this study, with more precision; thus we have reassigned the previous $NH_2$ (SS) VTMA of 74$^{\circ}$ for the C1 tautomer to 85$^{\circ}$, which the latter is in excellent agreement with the ab initio value. Nonplanarity of the three lowest energy tautomers of cytosine has been investigated by measuring the VTMA of each vibrational mode for the tautomers.

  • Energy efficiency and indoor air quality have become main issue to develop healthy and sustainable building in these days. As an effort to reduce the energy consumption in multi-residential building, many attempts as like passive design strategies and renewable energy as well as active control method are tried. However, underground parking lot in multi-residential building seldom adopt the sustainable strategies and only mechanical system is installed as usual. Moreover, the mechanical system installed in underground parking lot is rarely operated due to the electric demand for operation after completion. In this study, as an energy efficient measure, natural ventilation system using stack effect as a driving force for underground parking lot will be proposed and the performance of the suggested system will be analyzed by simulation method.

  • 수직평판의 거칠기에 따른 자연대류 열전달의 변화를 실험적으로 측정하였다. 열전달 실험을 대신하여 유사성에 기초한 물질전달로 모사하여 실험을 수행하였다. 또한 국부적인 열전달률을 알기위해 Piecewise electrode를 채택하였다. Pr수는 2,014 그리고 높이(L)는 0.154m로 고정하고 매끈한 수직평판에 대해 실험을 수행한 결과 Le Fevre의 수직평판 상관식과 거의 일치하였다. 거칠기 정도를 $0.5R_z{\mu}m{\sim}14.1R_z{\mu}m$로 변화시켰을 때 $Nu_L$수는 거칠기 정도가 커지면서 증가하는 경향을 나타내었다. 실험결과는 간단한 상관식으로 정리하였다.

  • The purpose of this paper is that investigates the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S (wind turbine system) and carries out the evaluation analysis during operating W.T.S. To investigate the dynamic behavior characteristic of W.T.S, the experiments to measure vibration of the blade from the attached accelerometer on the flap and edge section of the blade that is one of the most important elements of dynamic characteristic of W.T.S are performed. Natural frequency and mode shape are calculated with commercial program ( ANSYS) using the measured vibration acceleration that receives the signal with F.F.T Analyzer from the accelerometer For validation of these experiments, the finite element analysis is performed with commercial F.E.M program (ANSYS) on the basis of the natural frequency and mode shape. The results indicate that experimental values have good agreements with the finite element analysis.

  • A study was carried out to investigate typical features of natural supercavitation generated behind axisymmetric bodies such as disk and cone shaped cavitators. Main focuses of the study were to observe formation process of the supercavity and to measure drag forces acting on cavitators. Experiments were carried out at the cavitation tunnel of the Chungnam National University (CNU-CT), which has a capability to make sufficient flow speed for supercavitation experiments and to remove broken cavity bubbles coming back to the test section. Blockage effects on supercavity dimensions were evaluated and an effort was made to correlate tunnel experiments with unbounded flow. On the basis of experimental and numerical results, geometrical features of supercavities and characteristics of drag forces were examined and their relations were proposed.

  • This study evaluated the vibration use and safety of students living in the dormitories on the 12th and 14th floors by feeling uncomfortable. The measurement method was to measure the acceleration due to free vibration and single - person walking. The slab stiffness was then calculated, and the usability and safety were compared according to international standards. The natural frequency of the slab was 6.8 Hz. The natural frequency of a typical slab is around 15Hz. Therefore, the evaluation slab is judged as a flexible floor structure. It is considered that there is a high possibility of resonance in the middle of daily life because of low natural frequency and near harmonic component of walking vibration. As a result, the RMS acceleration level is within the tolerance range defined by ISO 10137 code, but the 13th floor exceeds the reference limit, so that a sensitive person could detect the vibration somewhat in the lying position.

난대림의 NVOCs 잔존량 및 성분 특성 (The Retention and Chemical Composition of NVOCs (Natural volatile organic compounds) in a Warm Temperate Forest)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the amount (i.e., retention volume) and chemical composition of Natural volatile organic compounds (NVOCs) across different sites in a temperate forest. The three forest sites that were considered include riparian zones (site 1), streams (site 2), and densely-canopied areas (site 3). From May to October 2021, a mini pump was used to measure the collected NVOCs. These measurements were conducted once a month, from 10:30 am to 11:30 am; these times encompass peak visitation times. In the tree layers of the site 1 and 2, Quercus acuta was dominant, whereas Camellia japonica dominated their subtree layers. On the other hand, the tree layer of site 3 was dominated by Castanopsis sieboldii, whereas Camellia japonica dominated its subtree layer. The retention volume and chemical composition of NVOCs was as follows: benzaldehyde (107.528ppm), α-pinene (37.868ppm), linalool (16.258ppm), eucalyptol (14.818ppm), and sabinene hydrate (14.679ppm). In particular, the retention volume of benzaldehyde decreased as temperature increased. In contrast, the retention volume of α-pinene increased as the temperature increased. The differences in forest topography across the studies sites were in the following order: riparian area> forest area> stream area.

  • Cancer remains the leading cause of death worldwide despite intense efforts in developing innovative treatments. Current approaches in cancer therapy are mainly directed to a selective targeting of cancer cells to avoid potential side effects associated with conventional therapy. In this respect, Natural killer (NK) cells have gained growing attention and are now being considered as promising therapeutic tools for cancer therapy owing to their intrinsic ability to rapidly recognize and kill cancer cells, while sparing normal healthy cells. NK cells play a key role in the first line of defense against transformed and virus-infected cells. NK cells sense their target through a whole array of receptors, both activating and inhibitory. Functional outcome of NK cell against target cells is determined by the balance of signals transmitted from diverse activating and inhibiting receptors. Despite significant progress made in the role of NK cells attack as a pivotal sentinel in tumor surveillance, the molecular has been that regulate NK cell responses remain unclear, which restricts the use of NK cells as a therapeutic measure. Accordingly, current efforts for NK cell-based cancer therapy have largely relied on the strategies that are based on the manipulation of inhibitory receptor function. However, if we better understand the mechanisms governing NK cell activation, including those mediated by diverse activating receptors, this knowledge can be applied to the development of optimal design for cancer immunotherapy by targeting NK cells.
