  • In this paper, we propose a new object representation method and matching algorithm for object recognition using a 3-fingered robot hand. Each finger tip can measure normal vector and shapes of a contacting surface. Object is represented by the inter-surface description table where the features of a surface are described in the diagonal and the relations between two surfaces are in the upper diagonal. Based on this table, a fast and the efficient matching algorithm has been proposed. This algorithm can be applied to natural quadric objects.

  • We consider various algorithms calculating best onesided simultaneous approximations. We assume that X is a compact subset of $\mathbb{R}^{m}$ satisfying $X=\overline{intX}$, S is an n-dimensional subspace of C(X), and $\mu$ is any 'admissible' measure on X. For any l-tuple $f_1,\;{\cdots},\;f_{\ell}$ in C(X), we present various ideas for best approximation to F from S(F). The problem of best (both one and two-sided) approximation is a linear programming problem.

  • In this paper, attempts have been made to code images employing a separating mean vector quantizer(SMVQ). Then we analyzed the performance of the SMVQ experimentally as well as analytically. The results of simulation with natural images are presented. But, conclusively the performance of the SMVQ technique is not better than that of the conventional vector quantizer. In this paper, a brief analysis in which we revealed that the performance, based on the mean square error measure, of the SMVQ is not favorable is favorable is discussed.

  • Process Capability Index is defined as a ratio between predetermined tolerance and natural tolerance of existent process ($6{\sigma}$). And it is widely used as a performance measure for quality control activities, and a criterion for process classification. This paper developed a unity-fixed process capability table for convenience to calculate process capability and showed how to use it.

  • Using the Lorenz curve that is proved to be a powerful tool to measure the income inequality within a population of income receivers, we propose the normalized sample Lorenz curve for the goodness-of-fit test that is very important test in statistical analysis. For two hodgkin's disease data sets, we compare the Q-Q plot and the proposed normalized sample Lorenz curve.

  • In this paper, we will introduce multivariate versions of bivariate conditionally positive dependence and the partial ordering is developed among conditionally positive lower orthant dependent(CPLOD) random vectors. This permits us to measure the degree of CPLOD-ness and to compare pairs of CPLOD random vectors. Some proper ties and closure under certain statistical operations are derived.

  • Since the concept of Pettis integral was introduced in 1938 [10], the Pettis integrability of weakly measurable functions has been studied by many authors [5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 11]. It is known that there is a bounded function that is not Pettis integrable [10, Example 10. 8]. So it is natural to raise the question: when is a bounded function Pettis integrable\ulcorner(omitted)

  • Methods for the measurement of copper(II) complexing capacity (CuCC) of natural waters by using the back-extraction of bis(benzoyl-trifluoroacetonate)copper(II) and the extraction rate of dithizonato-copper(II) complex were described. Experimental results show that the CuCC of the Kiryu river water samples from urban area were consistently larger than those from up-stream, due to a ligand which originated from human activities.

  • In approach theory, we can provide arbitrary products of ${\infty}p$-metric spaces with a natural structure, whereas, classically only if we rely on a countable product and the question arises, then, whether properties which are derived from countability properties in metric spaces, such as sequential and countable compactness, can also do away with countability. The classical results which simplify the study of compactness in pseudometric spaces, which proves that all three of the main kinds of compactness are identical, suggest a further study of the category $pMET^{\infty}$.

  • Basic objective in cluster analysis is to discover natural groupings of items. In general, clustering is conducted based on some similarity (or dissimilarity) matrix or the original input data. Various measures of similarities between objects are developed. In this paper, we consider a clustering of huge categorical real data set which shows the aspects of time-location-activity of Korean people. Some useful similarity measure for the data set, are developed and adopted for the categorical variables. Hierarchical and nonhierarchical clustering method are applied for the considered data set which is huge and consists of many categorical variables.
