  • In many aging individuals, dermatochalasis and involutional ptosis appear together. Therefore, for functional and aesthetic purposes, ptosis correction and upper blepharoplasty are performed together. The aim of this article is to investigate factors that should be considered in order to achieve good results when simultaneously performing involutional ptosis correction and upper blepharoplasty in aging patients. Involutional ptosis is usually corrected through aponeurosis advancement in mild cases. In moderate or severe ptosis, the Muller muscle and aponeurosis are used together to correct ptosis. Using the two muscles together has the advantages of reducing lagophthalmos and increasing the predictability of outcomes after surgery. Broadly speaking, the surgical method used for involutional ptosis varies depending on the specific case, but unlike congenital ptosis, it is often not necessary to perform overcorrection. In particular, if there are problems such as severe dry-eye symptoms or risk of lagophthalmos, undercorrection should be considered. When performing ptosis correction, the surgeon should be careful not to overdo skin excision; instead, limited excision should be performed. After ptosis surgery, the brow may descend and the double fold may look too small. However, in order to make the double eyelids look larger, the surgeon should consider making the double eyelid design high rather than excising an excessive amount of skin. In some cases, to obtain more natural double eyelids and favorable results, it may be necessary to perform a sub-brow lift or forehead lift before or after involutional ptosis surgery.

  • This treatise deals with teen-agers' tendencies in selecting clothes, upon the recent liberalization measures of dress restriction. in regard to girl students' uniforms inmiddle and high schools, effective 1983. Results of my poll of 430 inquirees on the subject is outlined as follows; The surveyees have a preference for wearing box-style upper garments with a round-neck line and ribbon/tie collar. They also prefer to wear shirt cuffs mainly in set-in sleeve style. A straight skirt silhouetting the body line is anticipated to be longer in length than the knee line by 2 or 3 cm's. A dressy or sporty look would be most welcome, too. The ensemble of blue jeans and T-shirt blouse would be usual wear during school attendance. The reason why they like to choose trousers is considered to stem from the unisex look in fashion rather economical and practical purposes. Clothes material tends to be natural fabrics, single-colored and non-patterned. Color needs to be in a subdued mood, tuned with the same color and of neutral tint. In styling, emphasis is to be placed on femininity. In particular, the middle school girls wish to intensify 'Har-mony' in style while the high school misses are concerned with 'Individuality.'

  • This study aimed at creation of bench design to be placed in the public spaces for the citizen who live in Jungnang-Gu. In Jungnang-Gu surrounded by the excellent natural environment like Jungnang-stream, Mangwoo Mt., Bongwha Mt. and Youngma Mt., there are many public places where a citizen can take a rest. Among the public facilities being in such public places however, the benches especially were installed so unplanned and disordered, even that they look unbalanced with the natural environment, though they need to play a meaningful role in park and walking paths. Hereupon this study intends to investigate the geographical environment in Jungnang-Gu and furthermore to develop the bench-design on the basis of the investigation. The concept of design lies in modern style of a bench matched up with the nature well and also taking the functional aspect for rest, in consideration of the public places utilized by the abundant natural greens. The environment-friendly timber, marble and metal were used here and the design with and without the back of a bench & the dimension for Korean people's figure were considered.

  • The purpose of this paper is to show that a shape pro-duced by natural factors such as weather, environments, etc., can be introduced into the emotion of a design, and to make a design process by planning a Korean image and characterizing its concept. Human beings, nature, man-made objects, and society have their own functions in an environmental structure. When all their functions are kept in working order, human beings come to discover orderliness out of which they can absorb pleasure. They cannot look into their own inside but they can trace back in their memories a variety of panoramic experiences which have been embed-ded onto their identity during their lifetime interactions with an empirical world. Children first acquire a way of cognition in the space, a comprehensive premise, connecting a specific place and an object of cognition. Such subconsciousness forms sky-lines of mountains, seas, and trees under the sky, and produces axis lines and beehived domes under the influ-ence of natural, cultural, and social factors, forming a folk culture. A subconscious composition of existential space is extended. A subconscious composition of existential space is extended to the areas of environmental design, product design, and fashion design. The development of a concept of place and space as a system is a necessary condition for discovering an existential foothold.

  • Marine Propulsion shafting system coupled with medium diesel engine forms multi-degree torsional vibration system which consist of many inertia masses such as crank, flywheel, propeller and sometimes gear system is adopted additionally for the purpose of improving propeller's propulsion efficiency or connecting with PTO/PTI. The periodic excitation torques generated by combustion pressure in cylinder and reciprocating masses induce various kinds of vibrations in this shafting system. If the frequency of this excitation torques is equal to the natural frequency of the shafting, the amplitude of the torsional vibration increases steeply and the damage of crankshaft or gears may be occurred by that. This frequency is called critical speed. When making a plan for shafting system, it is important for this frequency to be expected exactly and not to be in commonly used speed. For this reason, this paper introduces the experimental equipment for torsional vibration of marine propulsion shafting system and describes the theoretic and the experimental methods to look for natural frequencies.

  • A cantilever beam with a mass and a spring at the end can be use to model a miniature flexible arm. It is necessary to know the natural frequencies and mode shapes to discuss its free vibration, especially when modal analysis is employed. A beam is clamped-free. In this paper we look at the lateral vibration of beams that have step changes in the properties of their cross sections. The frequency equation is derived by Bernoulli-Euler formulation and is sloved by the separation of variable. The parameters of the beam, 'mass and spring stiffness' are defined as nondimensionalized parameters for wide application of the results. According to the change of eigenvalues and mode shape are presented for this beam. The results presented are the eigenvalues and the natural frequencies for the first three modes of vibration. Results show that the parameters have a significant effect on the natural frequency.

  • Recent advances in low-power sensors and transmitters are driving the search for standalone power sources that utilize unused ambient energy. These energy harvesters can alleviate the issues related to the installation and maintenance of sensors. Particularly piezoelectric energy harvesters, with the ability to convert ambient mechanical energy into useful electricity, have received significant attention due to their high energy density, low cost and operational stability over wide temperature and pressure conditions. In order to maximize the generated electrical power, the natural frequency of the piezoelectric energy harvester should be matched with the dominant frequency of ambient vibrations. However, piezoelectric energy harvesters typically exhibit a narrow bandwidth, thus, it becomes difficult to operate near resonance under broadband ambient vibration conditions. Therefore, the resonating of energy harvesters is critical to generate maximum output power under ambient vibration conditions. For this, energy harvesters should have broadband natural frequency or actively tunable natural frequency with ambient vibrations. Here, we review the most plausible broadband energy harvesting techniques of the multi-resonance, nonlinearity, and self-resonance tuning. The operation mechanisms and recent representative studies of each technique are introduced and the advantages and disadvantages of each method are discussed. In addition, we look into the future research direction for the broadband energy harvester.

  • This paper presents the vibration characteristics of a cantilever beam in contact with a fluid using a PZT actuator and PVDF film. dynamic behaviors of a flexible beam-water interaction system are examined. The effect of the liquid level on free vibration of the composite beam in a partially liquid-filled circular cylinder is investigated. The coupled system is subject to an undisturbed boundary condition un the fluid domain. In the vibration analysis of a wetted beam. the decoupled analyses between beam and fluid have been conventionally employed by considering first the composite beam vibration in the all and secondly Performing the correction taking account for surrounding fluid effects. That is, this investigation was to look at how natural frequencies, mode shapes. and damping are affected by liquid level variations. The signals from the sensor according to the applied input voltage are digitalized and filtered in order to obtain the dynamic characteristics of the composite beam in contact with fluid. It was found that the coupled natural frequencies decreased with the fluid level for the identical composite beam due to added mass effect. In case of the free-free boundary condition, the natural frequency gently decreased at fluid water level between 20% and 80% in the first tending mode and we found out the bends of stair shape for added mass effect of the fluid.
