This study aims to improve the heat performance of motor cycle disk due to the number of holes by analyzing 6 kinds of disk models. This disk performance depends on the efficiency at emitting the heat. To raise the efficiency of heat emission, holes with circle or another configuration are made on disks to emit heat fast. The distribution of temperature, heat flux, deformation and stress are analyzed. As the number of holes on disk increases, the performance of heat emission is improved. Equivalent stress is decreased and durability is improved as the number of holes on disk increases. Though the number of holes on disk is increased, the performances of heat emission and durability do not become better. The optimal model can be found by comparing models each other through this analysis result. Through this study result, the configuration of motor cycle disk is designed with optimal heat emission and durability by comparing models.
The durability of carbon/epoxy composites under salt water environment was investigated through salt water spray tester. Salt water environment was obtained through salt spray and salt immersion. 5% NaCl solution was used for salt water as natural salt water. Mechanical test was performed to obtain tensile properties, flexural properties, and shear properties of carbon/epoxy composite over 12 months under salt water environment. Dynamic mechanical analyzer was used to investigate thermal analysis properties such storage modulus, loss modulus, and tan ${\delta}$. Also FT/IR test was conducted to investigate a change in chemical structure. According to the results, mechanical properties were found to be slowly degraded as a function of exposure times. Regarding to thermal analysis properties, storage modulus was insensitive to exposure times, but loss modulus was shown to be slightly decreased. Although the shape and location of peak in FT/IR were not much changed, the intensity of peak in FT/IR was affected on exposure times. We also found that salt water immersion was more severe to the durability of carbon/epoxy composite rather than salt water spray.

Bottom ash among the coal ash is not used because of its poor properties. But encouraging the use of bottom ash as a construction material is a sensible method of utilization as it avoids the problems and costs associated with disposal and provides an alternative aggregate source. This study was aimed at using bottom ash as an alternative fine aggregate source to provide a solution to disposal and insufficient fine aggregate for the production of concrete. So properties of domestic bottom ash were estimated due to the difference of each domestic bottom ash. And compressive strength and durability were estimated as basic data to use bottom ash in building industries. As a result of the experiment, the very porous surface and angular shape of the bottom ash particles necessitate a higher apparent water-cement ratio. And due to the higher water requirement, the compressive strength and durability of mortar is lower than those of the control samples. But when 25 percent of the total dry weight of the natural fine aggregate was replaced by bottom ash, the engineering characteristics were similar.

Activated hwangtoh (ACT) is a natural resource abundant in South Korea, approximately 15.0% of soil. It is an efficient mineral admixture that has activated pozzolanic properties through high-temperature heating and rapid cooling. The purpose of this study is to improve a curb mixture that can reduce NOx outside and investigate durability performance. To this end, mortar curb specimens were manufactured by replacing OPC with ACT. The ACT substitution ratios of 0.0, 10.0, and 25.0% were considered, and mechanical and durability tests on the curb specimens were conducted at 28 and 91 days of age. Steam curing was carried out for three days for the production of curbs, which was very effective to strength development at early ages. The reduction in strength at early ages could be compensated through this process, and no significant performance degradation was evaluated in the tests on chloride attack, carbonation, and freezing and thawing. The mortar curb with an ACT of 10.0~25.0% replacement ratio exhibited clear NOx reduction through photocatalytic (TiO2) treatment. This is due to the increase in physical absorption through surface absorption and the photocatalyst-containing TiO2 coating. In this study, the reasonable range of the ACT replacement ratio for NOx reduction was quantitatively evaluated through a comprehensive analysis of each test.

This study is to derive the types of displacement and damage that occur in wooden architecture cultural assets. Although the wooden architectural cultural assets are being repaired through continuous maintenance, secondary problems frequently occur. This is because the root cause of the problem has yet to be solved. The types of displacement and damage that occur in the wooden architecture cultural asset are classified into three parts: the foundation section, the gagu section, and the roof section. In turn, the three main factors that lead to displacement and damages are the structures' load impact, the durability deterioration, and the imbalance. Load impact is a phenomenon in which the member is subjected to a load that causes deformation or cracks. Durability decline is a natural phenomenon that reduces the performance of lumber as a result of check shake, termite damage, and decay. The imbalance is a condition in which the lumber is twisted and the force balance is lost, due to either drying shrinkage or displacement of the gagu section.
The glacial tills and shales in Midwestern states of the USA often show strength degradation after construction. They are often in need of applying soil modification techniques to remediate their strength degradation with weathering process. This study investigated the weathering durability of these natural soils and biopolymer treated soils by comparing direct shear test results for wet-dry and wet-freeze-thaw-dry cycled specimens. The tests showed that untreated glacial tills maintained only 62% and 50% initial shear strength after eight wet-dry cycles and eight wet-freeze-thaw-dry cycles, respectively. These untreated soils could not withstand by themselves after 16 weathering cycles. The same soils treated with 1.5% (by dry weight) food-grade Xanthan gum maintained 140% and 88% initial shear strength of untreated soils after 16 weathering cycles for wet-dry cycles and wet-freeze-thaw-dry cycles, respectively. The same soils treated with 1.5% (by dry weight) Gellan gum maintained 82% and 60% initial shear strength of untreated ones after 16 weathering cycles, respectively. Similar results were obtained for crushed shales, manifesting that the biopolymerization method may be adopted as a new eco-friendly method to enhance the weathering durability of these problematic soils of glacial tills and shales.

This study incorporates fine waste glass (GS) as a replacement for natural sand (NS) in ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) based alkali activated mortar (AAm). Tests were conducted on the AAm to determine the mechanical properties, apparent porosity and the durability based on its resistance to Na2SO4 5% and H2SO4 2% concentrated solutions. The study revealed that increasing GS up to 100 wt%, increased strength and decreased porosity. The lower porosity attained with the incorporation of GS, improved the resistance of mortar to Na2SO4 and thus increasing durability. However, the durability of mortar to H2SO4 solution was negatively impacted with the further reduction of porosity observed with increasing GS above 50 wt.% believed to be caused by the stress induced as a result of expansive reaction products created when the mortar reacted with acid.

There are continuous cases of fire expansion due to fire door problems around the world, including the 2010 Shanghai Apartment Fire, the 2017 Grenfell Tower Fire in England, and the 2020 Ul-san Residential and Commercial Complex Fire. In order to prevent such fire damage, the country has strengthened the performance standards of fire doors, and recently, efforts have been made to ensure the best performance of fire doors by introducing a quality recognition system. Securing the performance of fire doors is a very important aspect. However, there is a concern that old fire doors may not function normally in the event of fire due to natural deterioration, corrosion, and damage during the use process, but countermeasures are insufficient. Therefore, from a management perspective, it is very important to maintain fire doors and secure an appropriate replacement time. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to determine whether the fire door has durability to prevent fire spread in the process of use through operation probability analysis and expert surveys, and to propose an appropriate useful life of the fire door.

Recently, the operating conditions of the various mechanical structures have become more severe and the running time has become longer as the development of plant equipment increases with the introduction of high technology. Thus, the reliability of the system and its accessories is becoming a problem. Normally, synthetic natural gas (SNG) plants use 1.25Cr-0.5Mo or 2.25Cr-1Mo heat resistant steel according to the operating conditions. In this study, a lab-scale reactor was set up using 1.25Cr-0.5Mo steel, in order to carry out corrosion tests for producing synthetic natural gas. The corrosive characteristics were investigated under 1st-methanator operating conditions and fundamental data about the durability and reliability were obtained by using the experimental test. The analysis of results obtained on the durability of the reactor under emission and injection compositions showed that the hydrogen embrittlement caused by hydrogen and the oxidation corrosion caused by H2O had the most effect on the durability of 1.25Cr-0.5Mo steel in the SNG reactor. However, the hydrogen embrittlement and oxidation corrosion occurred simultaneously under emission conditions, so that the corrosion of the material increased suddenly after a long operating time. Besides, the corrosion of the 1.25Cr-0.5Mo steel under the injection composition was faster than that under the emission composition.
Stone cultural properties, exposed in natural environment, is deteriorated by many weathering reasons for a long time. It is necessary to treat of consolidation and water-repellent on the surface because of the conservation of stone cultural properties. We was treated the specimen [granite(Hwangdung-suk), sandstone, marble(in JeongSeon)] by synthesis resin of DWR-Ⅲ, SI2121 and fluoropolymer, and tested on the durability, water-repellent, color stability and luster generation etc. In the result of this study, DWR-Ⅲ and fluoropolymer is superior to the waterrepellent, durability of salt and acid rain. SI2121 is superior to the penetration because of lower viscosity, but the water-repellent is inferior to the others. After the treatment of chemicals, the color-variation make an appearance but luster-generation doesn’t. With the passage of time, the color of specimen was got better because of the ‘washing’ phenomenon for ultra-violet, salt etc.
