  • Infrared optical systems are operated at low temperature and vacuum (LT-V) condition, whereas the assembly and alignment are performed at room temperature and non-vacuum (RT-NV) condition. The differences in temperature and pressure between assembly/alignment environments and operation environment change the physical characteristics of optical and opto-mechanical parts (e.g., thickness, height, length, curvature, and refractive index), and the resultant optical performance changes accordingly. In this study, using input relay optics (IO), among the components of the Immersion GRating INfrared Spectrograph (IGRINS) which is an infrared spectrograph, a simulation based on the physical information of this optical system and an actual experiment were performed; and optical performances in the RT-NV, RT-V, and LT-V environments were predicted with an accuracy of $0.014{\pm}0.007{\lambda}$ rms WFE, by developing an adaptive fitting line. The developed adaptive fitting line can quantitatively control assembly and alignment processes below ${\lambda}/70$ rms WFE. Therefore, it is expected that the subsequent processes of assembly, alignment, and performance analysis could not be repeated.

  • Information in UbiComp Environment are transformed to knowledge by relationship in a spatio-temporal location, and then became intelligent contents with task procedures or application models. The entities in U-City has lots of relationships. It is important in U-City contents to provide intelligent and personalized response to meet the intention of users. We extend the spatial ontology model of SPIRIT to other domain. Domain ontologies are consist of type, relation, and instance ontologies. When the relationship model by shared concepts are not defined, we used the spatio-temporal events to find relationships. So we proposed the methods to recommend semantically related terms, not syntactically.

  • This study is performed to assess the preparation and characterization of lactic acid bacteria (Sterpoccoccus thermophilus) loaded with alginate microsphere using alginate and chitosan for the efficient delivery of lactic acid bacteria to large intestine. Size and morphology of alginate microsphere were confirmed $6{\sim}10{\mu}m$ with spherical shape by scanning electronic microscope (SEM). Biodegradation study of alginate was investigated at different buffer solutions (pH 1.2 and 7.4). This result showed that alginate microsphere did not degrade at pH 1.2 buffer solution but it's degradation occurred from first day at pH 7.4 buffer solution. Survivability test of lactic acid bacteria in alginate microsphere showed that it was keeping activity of lactic acid bacteria by chroma meter. Therefore, the introduction of alginate microsphere might be a potential system to efficiently delivery lactic acid to large intestine.

  • The inhibitory effects of naringenin, kaempherol, and apigenin on the production of cholesterol in HepG2 KCLB 88065 and MCF-7 KCLB 30022 cells were evaluated. In this study, quercetin was used as a reference reagent. After incubation for 3 days, fat-soluble contents of both cell types were extracted by using the Folch method and the cholesterol contents in both cultured cells were determined by high performance liquid chromatography. The concentration of cholesterol in untreated each tissue cells was $12.2{\pm}0.11$ and $8.83{\pm}0.12\;mg/g$ of lipid, respectively. The total concentration of each flavonoid was adjusted to 0, 35, or $350{\mu}M$ in the culture broth. As the results, the addition of 2% methanol and dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) to the media (control for flavonoid solvents) did not significantly affect cell growth; however, DMSO caused an increase in the production of cholesterol. Each flavonoid inhibited the production of cholesterol in both HepG2 and MCF-7 cells at the concentration of $35{\mu}M$ above. In addition, the inhibitory effect of kaempherol on the production of cholesterol in these cells was greater than the other flavonoids tested and HepG2 cells are more sensitive to flavonoids than MCF-7. From the results, the inhibitory effects of flavonoids on cholesterol production are different depending on the cell type.

  • The root extract of Scilla scilloides (which has been used as a traditional folk medicine in Korea) was evaluated with regard to antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidative activities. The roots of S. scilloides were minced and extracted with 95% ethanol (root:ethanol=25:75, w/v). The inhibitory effects of S. scilloides root extract on the growth of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 35556, Salmonella enteritidis ATCC 12021, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Candida parapsilosis KCCM 35428 were tested. The results indicate that the antimicrobial effects of both 0.1 and 1.0% extract of S. scilloides were greater against the growth of S. aureus ATCC 35556 and C. parapsilosis KCCM 35428 than the growth of S. enteritidis ATCC 12021 and E. coli O157:H7. The anti-inflammatory effects were evaluated by measurement of the inhibition of hyaluronidase activity in vitro. It appears that both 0.1 and 1.0% concentrations of extract have inhibitory effects on hyaluronidase relative to the control. Finally, the anti-oxidative effect of 1.0 and 10% extract solutions were measured according to the thiocyanate method and were compared with 1.0% BHT. The results indicate that the anti-oxidative effect of 10% S. scilloides root extract (anti-oxidative index (AOI); $72.3{\pm}4.2$) is not significantly different from that of 1.0% BHA (AOI; $76.8{\pm}3.5$) (p<0.05). However, it appears that the anti-oxidative effect of S. scilloides root extract is at least three-fold greater than that of BHA when accounting for the amount of dissolved solids in each.

  • As a study for the verification of heat treated wood according to ISPM No. 15, the spectroscopic characteristics of the heat treated wood surface were analyzed. Various functional groups were observed on the IR spectrum, but it was difficult to find any particular difference between wood species, heat treatment time and storage period. HBI (hydrogen-bonding intensity) shows the change of the heat treated wood according to the storage time, but the change of wood with the heat treatment time was hard to be observed. On the PCA score plot, however, it was possible to sort the wood according to the heat treatment time of 60 minutes or 90 minutes in the species. The standards for classification of heat-treated wood in PCA were aromatic rings in lignin and C-H bending in cellulose, and these components were able to classify heat-treated wood by ISPM No. 15.

  • It is imperative to examine the regulatory trends of leading overseas aviation authorities to accelerate the effort to integrate emerging new air vehicle concepts such as UAS and eVTOL into the existing national airspace system. Whilst EASA seems to react swiftly in relation to regulatory framework by proposing new sets of customised special conditions to cope with a growing demand to introduce new aircraft concepts, understanding of such movement lags behind mainly due to the complexity of EASA's regulation structure, not to mention EU's legal system. Witnessing this situation, this paper reviewed the legal system of the EU which forms the basis of EASA's regulation system together with its own recently published UAS regulations so as to contribute towards the improvement of the aviation regulatory framework.

  • Various types of accelerators, thiuram (TMTD, DPTT), thiazole (MBT, MBTS), and sulfenamide (CBS, NOBS) are added into a silica filled natural rubber compound. Their effects on vulcanization and mechanical properties are investigated. TMTD showed the fastest vulcanization rate, the higer maximum torque ($T_{max}$), and the excellent mechanical properties (300% modulus, tensile strength, elongation). MBT and MBTS showed an intermediate vulcanization rate between thiuram and sulfenamide type and added ones, and also showed the lower $T_{max}$ and mechanical properties compared to that of other compounds. Finally, NOBS showed the slowest vulcanization rate and the lower mechanical property but the moderate $T_{max}$.

  • IPv6 is a new version of the Internet protocol, designed as the successor to IPv4. Among the changes from IPv4 to IPv6, we focused on the stateless address auto-configuration mechanism. The address auto-configuration mechanism is used by nodes in an IPv6 network to learn the local topology. The current specifications suggest that IPsec AH may be used to secure the mechanism, but there is no security association during address auto-configuration process because it has no initial IP address. As there are so many suity threats, SEND protocol was designed to counter these threats. In this paper we analyzed the security problems in NDP and SEND protocol. So we proposed the Modified NDP mechanism using PKC and AC in order to solve these problems.
