  • In this paper, we propose the content-based music information retrieval system with improved retrieval speed and stable performance while maintaining resonable retrieval accuracy In order to solve the in-stable system problem multi-feature clustering (MFC) is used to setup robust music DB. In addition, the music retrieval speed was improved by using the Superclass concept. Effectiveness of the system with SuperClass and without SuperClass is compared in terms of retrieval speed, accuracy and retrieval precision. It is demonstrated that the use of WC and Superclass substantially improves music retrieval speed up to $20\%\~40\%$ while maintaining almost equal retrieval accuracy.

  • Most of music-transcription systems that have been commercialized operate based on audio information. However, these conventional systems have disadvantages of environmental dependency, equipment dependency, and time latency. This paper studied a vision-based music-transcription system that utilizes video information rather than audio information, which is a traditional method of music-transcription programs. Computer vision technology is widely used as a field for analyzing and applying information from equipment such as cameras. In this paper, we created a program to generate MIDI file which is electronic music notes by using smart-phone cameras to record the play of piano.

  • This short paper briefly describes the proposed music recommendation method that provides suitable music pieces to a listener depending on both listeners' ratings and content of music pieces. The proposed method consists of two methods. First, listeners' ratings prediction method is a combination the traditional user-based and item-based collaborative filtering methods. Second, genre classification method is a combination of feature extraction and classification procedures. The feature extraction step obtains audio signal information and stores it in data structure, while the second one classifies the music pieces into various genres using decision tree algorithm.

  • The music with the times, evolved from analogous tape music to digital music. New authoring tools, interfaces, and applications make us to produce high quality music using cheap equipments. Inspired by this concept, we design an classical chinese style-instrument with the audio-visual interactive function. It enables a user to compose music and to see a vivid picture at the same time.

  • In this paper, we propose a technique to represent a sheet music effectively on the Internet. For representing the Internet sheet music, this paper proposes the ScoreML(Score Markup Language) which is a new markup language based on XML, and describes the design of the XML DTD which defines the ScoreML. XML DTD constructing the ScoreML is designed to be able to represent various features of a sheet music in order to retrieve the real sheet music on the Internet. The sheet music built by the ScoreML is directly displayed on the Internet by ScoreML browser which is implemented in the form of Java applet.

  • In this paper we derived the asymptotic distribution of the MUSIC null-spectrum, form which an exact expression of the asymptotic variance of the MUSIC null-spectrum can be obtained. From this result in addition an explicit expression of the normalized standard deviation has been derived and it is shown that the normalized standard deviation depends only on the number of sensors and the number of signals.

  • Recognition systems for scanned or printed music scores that have been implemented on personal computers have received attention from numerous scientists and have achieved significant results over many years. A modern trend with music scores being captured and played directly on mobile devices has become more interesting to researchers. The limitation of resources and the effects of illumination, distortion, and inclination on input images are still challenges to these recognition systems. In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for recognizing music scores captured by mobile cameras. To reduce the complexity, as well as the computational time of the system, we grouped all of the symbols extracted from music scores into ten main classes. We then applied each major class to SVM to classify the musical symbols separately. The experimental results showed that our proposed method could be applied to real time applications and that its performance is competitive with other methods.

  • For an effective listening to music, a repeated listening to music should be possible without any restriction of time and space as well as to music for a music class and the various multi-media learning materials for listening to music is required. However, an individualized and repeated listening is difficult and an individualized listening materials are lacking. To solve these problems, learning system for listening to music in elementary school sharing learning materials required for it and including learning factors of listening to music is required. Therefore, this study analyzes learning factors of listening to music in elementary school and the learning system for listening to music is designed and developed to make elementary students have their own active listening to music and feel achievement and confidence by teacher's evaluation of their writings after listening to music and experience a joyful musical activity. And it is applied to elementary school.
