Purpose: To investigate the relationship between MUC expression and clinicopathologic factors in advanced gastric cancer. Methods: A total of 237 tumor specimens were assessed for MUC expression by immunohistochemistry. The clinicopathologic factors were investigated with MUC1, MUC2, MUC5AC, and MUC6. Results: MUC1, MUC2, MUC5AC, and MUC6 expression was identified in 148 of 237 (62.4%), 141 of 237 (59.5%), 186 of 237 (78.5%), and 146 of 237 (61.6%) specimens, respectively. MUC1 expression was correlated with age, human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status, lymphatic invasion, Lauren classification and histology. Further multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between MUC1expression and lymphatic invasion, diffuse type of Lauren classification. MUC5AC expression was correlated with HER2 status, Lauren classification and histology. Further multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed a significant correlation between MUC5AC expression and HER2 status, diffuse and mixed type of Lauren classification. MUC2 and MUC6 expression were not correlated with clinicopathologic factors. The patients of MUC1 expression had poorer survival than those without MUC1 expression, but MUC2, MUC5AC or MUC6 were not related to survival. In an additional multivariate analysis that used the Cox proportional hazards model, MUC1 expression was not significantly correlated with patient survival independent of age, N-stage, and venous invasion. Conclusion: When each of these four MUCs expression is evaluated, in light of clinicopathologic factors, MUC1 expression may be considered as a prognostic factor in patients with advanced gastric cancer. Therefore, careful follow-up may be necessary because the prognosis is poor when MUC1 expression is present.

The objective of this study is to find out the factors affecting the employees' loyalty in private joint-stock commercial banks in Mekong Delta, Vietnam. Then, possible solutions can be proposed, which can be implemented to improve employees' engagement in private joint-stock commercial banks in Mekong Delta, Vietnam, in the future. The author conducted a survey of 300 employees at 6 private joint-stock commercial banks in 6 provinces in Mekong Delta: An Giang, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Ben Tre, Soc Trang, and Tien Giang. The author also used the Cronbach Alpha reliability analysis method, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), and multivariate regression analysis. The results show the degree of influence of factors on employees' loyalty - according to decreasing importance: Income, Job characteristics, Working environment, Colleagues, Leadership. The authors propose some solutions based on the research findings, including focusing on assigning the right employees to the right jobs, creating a competitive and fair working environment, focusing on a reasonable income policy, and transparency in working relationships to help bank managers in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam improve human resource management to improve employee loyalty to private joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam.
A major concern in deep excavation project in soft clay deposits is the potential for adjacent buildings to be damaged as a result of the associated excessive ground movements. In order to accurately determine the wall deflections using a numerical procedure such as the finite element method, it is critical to use the correct soil parameters such as the stiffness/strength properties. This can be carried out by performing an inverse analysis using the measured wall deflections. This paper firstly presents the results of extensive plane strain finite element analyses of braced diaphragm walls to examine the influence of various parameters such as the excavation geometry, soil properties and wall stiffness on the wall deflections. Based on these results, a multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) model was developed for inverse parameter identification of the soil relative stiffness ratio. A second MARS model was also developed for inverse parameter estimation of the wall system stiffness, to enable designers to determine the appropriate wall size during the preliminary design phase. Soil relative stiffness ratios and system stiffness values derived via these two different MARS models were found to compare favourably with a number of field and published records.
Background: Complementary food in infancy is necessary for human growth, neurodevelopment, and health. However, the role of allergen consumption in early infancy and its effects on the development of food allergy or tolerance remain unclear. Purpose: To investigate the influence of age at the time of complementary food introduction on the development of asthma and atopic dermatitis in Korean children aged 1-3 years. Methods: We combined data from the Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey collected from 2010 to 2014 and analyzed 1619 children aged 1-3 years who were included in the survey. Multivariate regression analysis was used to identify associations among type of feeding, age at the time of complementary food introduction, and doctor-diagnosed atopic dermatitis and asthma. Results: Age at the time of complementary food introduction was not significantly associated with doctor-diagnosed atopic dermatitis and asthma in children aged 1-3 years. In the univariate analysis, children with asthma showed higher water and sodium intake levels than nonasthmatic children. However, this relationship was not significant in the multivariate regression analysis. Conclusion: The present study revealed no statistically significant relationship between age at the time of complementary food introduction and the risk of atopic dermatitis and asthma in young Korean children. A national prospective study is needed to clarify the influence of age at the time of complementary food introduction on the development of allergic diseases.
For the preestimate of the vibration level of the ground next to a dwelling, a multivariate statistical analysis on the experiment data acquired from a variety of construction sites was performed, and then a new estimate model for the value of K and n that can be applied in the diagnosis of the damage was offered. The results maybe summarized as follows : First, the $K_{95}$ and n showed high correlation at P$\leq$0.05. Specially the correlation coefficient about $W_{max}$, S were higher in $K_{95}$ than in n. indicating that $K_{95}$ is generally associated with source conditions. Second, the factor analysis permitted to identify two major sources in each fraction. These sources accounted for at least 73 % of valiance of $K_{95}$. Third, the multiple regression model for the estimate of $K_{95}$ was developed from Fac1 which depend upon the source conditions and Fac2 which depend upon the transmission conditions. The n value is able to determine from the correlation relationship associated with $K_{95}$./.

Purpose: The present study was undertaken to examine whether periodontal probe visibility (PV) accurately reflects gingival thickness (GT) and to identify factors affecting PV using cluster and multivariate analyses. Methods: The clinical characteristics of the maxillary central incisors (n=90 subjects) were examined. Clinical photographs, sex, PV, probing depth, gingival width, papilla height, GT as measured with an ultrasonic device, and the ratio of crown width to crown length were recorded. Multivariate analysis, using multinomial baseline-category logistic regression, was used to identify factors predictive of PV. Cluster analysis was used to identify gingival biotypes. Results: In the multivariate analysis, sex was the only significant predictor of PV (odds ratio, 6.48). Two clusters of subjects were created based on morphometric parameters. The mean GT among cluster A subjects was significantly lower than that among cluster B subjects (P=0.015). No significant difference was found between cluster A and B subjects in terms of PV score (P=0.583). Conclusions: Periodontal PV was not associated with GT as measured directly using an ultrasonic device. Sex was a highly significant predictor of periodontal PV. GT was found to be correlated with morphological characteristics of the periodontium.

In order to detect causal relationships between latent traits of sensual impressions for a color and physical characteristics constructing it, it is a common practice first to extract latent factors by a factor analysis method and secondly to clarify the causal relationships by a regression analysis method. This paper presents a multivariate statistical technique to detect the influence of the physical characteristics to the latent factors simultaneously which treats the physical characteristics as experimental factors in a $L_{27}$ factorial design and analysis the effects of the factors to the latent trait scores by an ANOVA.
Objective: The current study aimedto screen for possible factors which affect prognosis of chondrosarcoma. Methods: Thirty seven cases were selected and analyzed statistically. The patients received surgical treatment at our hospital between December 2005 and March 2008. All of them had complete follow-up data. The survival rates were calculated by univariate analysis using the Kaplan-Meier method and tested by Log-rank. ${\chi}^2$ or Fisher exact tests were carried out for the numeration data. The significant indexes after univariate analysis were then analyzed by multivariate analysis using COX regression model. Based on the literature, factors of gender, age, disease course, tumor location, Enneking grades, surgical approaches, distant metastasis and local recurrence were examined. Results: Univariate analysis showed that there were significant differences in Enneking grades, surgical approaches and distant metastasis related to the patients' 3-year survival rate after surgery (P<0.001). No significant difference was not found in gender, age, disease course, tumor location or local recurrence (P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that Enneking grade (P=0.007) and surgical approaches (P=0.010) were independent factors affecting the prognosis of chondrosarcoma, but distant metastasis was not (P=0.942). Conclusion: Enneking grades, surgical approaches and distant metastasis are risk factors for prognosis of chondrosarcoma, among which the former two are independent factors.
The Mahalanobis-Taguchi System (MTS) is a diagnostic and predictive method for multivariate data. In the MTS, the Mahalanobis space (MS) of reference group is obtained using the standardized variables of normal data. The Mahalanobis space can be used for multi-class classification. Once this MS is established, the useful set of variables is identified to assist in the model analysis or diagnosis using orthogonal arrays and signal-to-noise ratios. And other several techniques have already been used for classification, such as linear discriminant analysis and logistic regression, decision trees, neural networks, etc. The goal of this case study is to compare the ability of the Mahalanobis-Taguchi System and logistic regression using a data set.
