  • In this paper, we propose a real-time bandwidth allocation scheme of multiplexed VBR MPEG video sequences over ATM network. In order to real time processing, multiplexed source is estimated by linear-prediction per measurement period. If the result CLR value were not sufficient, we proposed a overallocation method and a reallocation one to guarantee QoS. We used two kinds of sources, one is random multiplexed source made of foot different video sources, the other is the one considered the arrange of I frame in the sequence. With those sources, we analyzed the linear prediction, compared overallocation with reallocation method. As a result, in both schemes, the objected CLR value is achieved, the sufficient value COR under 10% when mp is over 1.8 sec, the utilization is over 0.9. Especially, the COR value of the reallocation scheme is better at the same condition.

  • In this paper, we propose Active bandwidth allocation scheme of multiplexed streamed MPEG video sequences over BcN network. In order to real time processing, multiplexed source is estimated by linear-prediction per measurement period. n the result target quality value were not sufficient, we proposed a over-allocation method and a reallocation one to guarantee QoS. We used two kinds of sources, one is random multiplexed source made of four different video sources, the other is the one considered the arrange of I frame in the sequence. With those sources, we analyzed the linear prediction, compared over-allocation with reallocation method. As a result, In both schemes, the objected target quality value is achieved, the sufficient valuce bandwidth under 10% when measurement period is over 1.8 sec, the utilization is over 0.9. • This Paper proposes the architecture of WDM(wavelength division multiplexed) based large scale photonic packet switch network, which is composed of the FC(frequency converter) and OM (output module). The features of the proposed WDM based photonic packet switch network are 2-stage switch network, and WDM based internal optical link that is connected between FC and OM. This paper evaluates the internal call blocking characteristics of the photonic packet switch network. In results, we confirmed that the proposed WDM based photonic packet switch network has the potentiality in the practical implementation.

  • Increasing demand for safety features, driving comfort and operational convenience in automobiles requires an intensive use of electronic components such as sensors, actuators and Electronic Control Unit(ECU)'s. These growing number of electronics has given rise to problems concerning the increasing number, size and weight of the wiring harnesses. In order to resolve these problems, multiplexed wiring systems such as Controller Area Network(CAN) serial communication protocol are applied in vehicle. This paper introduces the development of Body Control Module(BCM)s using multiplexed wiring systems. The BCM's were developed and implemented using CAN, the most popular choice of in-vehicle communication protocols.

  • TWDM PON (time and wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network) uses multiple wavelengths to transmit packets upstream and downstream. In upstream transmission, if we use only one wavelength, the unused bandwidth is equally distributed to each ONU (optical network unit). In contrast, when multiple wavelengths are used, the unused remainders of wavelengths are different from each other. Therefore, it is difficult to fairly allocate the unused bandwidth to each ONU. This paper proposes a new method to allocate the unused bandwidth to each ONU in TWDM PON which uses multiple wavelengths.

  • In this paper, the size of IWU frame cell buffer is analyzed that receives FR frame cells from other FR networks through ATM backbone network. The frame cell buffer receives multiplexed ATM cells from other IWUs that provide interworking with ATM network for other FR networks A receiving IWU reassembles frames from multiplexed ATM cells by identifying the VPI/VCIs. The reassembled frames are transmitted on FR network links according to their destination. Therefore, IWU needs sufficient amount of buffers for the assembly of the frames and for providing the assembled frames with the queue to wait until the frame is transmitted by FR network link. In this paper, the probability of frame loss at the frame cell buffer is derived in terms of traffic parameters, the number of multiplexed FR connections, the number of FR links and the transmission capacity. By applying the derived results, we analyzed the required buffer size for a given probability of frame loss. Also, it is presented that how the probability and the required size are effected by the number of multiplexed FR connections and FR transmission links.

  • We demonstrate a time- and wavelength-division multiplexed passive optical network system employing a vertical-cavity surface-emitting laser array-based optical line terminal transceiver and a tunable bidirectional optical subassembly-based optical network terminal transceiver. A packet error-free operation is achieved after a 40 km single-mode fiber bidirectional transmission. We also discuss an arrayed waveguide grating, a photo detector array based on complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor photonics technologies, and low-cost key devices for deployment in access networks.

  • This paper describes a novel multiplexing scheme for delay-sensitive multiple VBR-coded bit streams in live multimedia service offered to high-speed networks. The primary goal of multiplexing in this paper is to keep delay limits of each bit streams and to enhance network resource utilization when they no multiplexed and transmitted over network. For this aim, this paper presents a dynamical control scheme which does not cause violation of any delay constraints to each bit steam. The scheme is based on the assumption that recent behavior of the each bit scream has high correlation with near-term future behavior. Such property is used to make as flat as possible by both temporal averaging on a stream-by-stream and spatial averaging is introduced when multiple VBR-coded bit streams are multiplexed. The effectiveness of the scheme is evaluated by several simulation using an MPEG-coded video trace of Star_wars and it is shown that the proposed scheme can effectively reduce the feat rate md coefficient of variation of the multiplexed transmission rate.

  • The implementation possibility of the flexible optical network configuration using the non-midway optical phase conjugator (OPC) in the dispersion-managed (DM) optical link for wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) transmission is demonstrated in this paper. It is confirmed that the implementation possibility of flexible link configuration is more increased, as number of fiber spans is more bigger and the residual dispersion per span (RDPS) is more large. It is also confirmed that the non-midway OPC link, in which RDPS of the latter half transmission section (after OPC) is decided by the averaged RDPS of the former half transmission section (before OPC), has more advantage for the flexible network configuration.
