Factors influencing population dynamics of herons in rice paddy at different time scales (다른 시간 단위에서 백로류 개체군 변동과 그 결정 요인)

  • Multiple temporal scale can be a useful method to understand population dynamics in ecosystem. The multi-temporal scale approach for population dynamics has rarely been researched till lately. This study was carried out to identify the factors in affecting the population dynamics of herons, including Eastern Cattle Egret (Bubulcus coromadus), Grey Heron (Ardea cinerea), Great Egret (A. alba), Intermediate Egret (Egretta intermedia) and Little Egret (E. garzetta), at rice paddy fields of Seokmun-myeon in the city of Dangjin, South Chungcheong Province during the main breeding periods from 2014 to 2017. We identified the population dynamics of herons at different time interval (day and month) using the unmanned monitoring system. As a result, monthly population dynamics was mostly affected by time, mean temperature and mean precipitation, whereas daily population dynamics was affected by mean temperature and habitat types. The results suggest that there are differences in the factors affecting the population dynamics of herons according to the time scale.

  • In this study, we analyzed typhoon affecting Korean Peninsula and runoff characteristic changes according to the typhoon based on Sumjin river dam, a representative multi-purpose dam. We quantified typhoon flow by applying the typhoon domain, and will provide base data for climate change adaptation and counterstrategy through correlation analysis of the change of typhoon statistical data and Indicators of Hydrologic Alterations (IHA). Korean Peninsula impact typhoon has a great effect on the scale of peak flow and the change of occurrence time. The occurrence frequency and duration of the peak flow were analyzed to be relatively unrelated to the typhoon affected by the Korean peninsula. These changes were also confirmed in the correlation analysis results. Correlation coefficient between the peak flow (0.41) and peak flow occurrence time (correlation coefficient = 0.83) was positively correlated with the Korean peninsula influenced typhoon.

  • In this paper, we performed radar target classification for the five scale models using ultra-wideband measured signal. In order to compare the performance, the 2 GHz(2~4 GHz), 4 GHz(2~6 GHz), and 6 GHz(2~8 GHz) bandwidth were used. Short time Fourier transform(STFT) and continuous wavelet transform(CWT) are used for target feature extraction. Extracted feature vectors are used as input for the multi-layerd perceptron(MLP) neural network classifier. The results show that as the bandwidth is wider, the performance is better.

  • As the need of eco-friendly transportation systems for sustainable development increases, public transport accessibility has been considered as an important element of transportation system design. When analyzing the accessibility, shortest path algorithms can be utilized to reflect the actual movement and we can obtain high resolution accessibility for all other stations on the network with shortest distance and time. This study used the algorithm improved by reflecting the penalty of number of transfers and waiting time of overlapped routes to get the accessibility. KTX Seoul Station is a target place and this algorithm is applied to multi-layer subway bus network of Seoul to calculate the accessibility, therefore this study presented the accessibility of KTX Seoul station by stations.

  • A multidimensional representation for precipitation, given In the theory proposed by E. Waymire et al. (1984), is used for simulating rainfall in space and time. The model produces moving storms with realistic meso-scale meteorological features in time and space. The first- and second-order statistics derived from observed JX)int gauge data were used to estimate the model parameters based on the Nelder-Mead algorithm of optimization. Then twelve-year traces of rainfall intensities at fixed gage stations were generated at intervals of 1 hours. First- and second-order statistics are evaluated from the above series, which are used for estimating the parameters of one dimensional model of temporal rainfall at a point. As a result from the comparisons of one dimensional model parameters used observed and generated data from multidimensional model, we found that the multidimensional rainfall model generated visually realistic spatial patterns of rainfall as well as realistic temporal hyetographs of rainfall at a point. point.

  • In this study, Multi-Values Logic processor was designed using the basic circuit of the electric current mode CMOS. First of all, binary FFT(Fast courier Transform) was extended and high-speed Multi-Valued Logic processor was constructed using a multi valued logic circuit. Compared with the existing two-valued FFT, the FFT operation can reduce the number of transistors significantly and show the simplicity of the circuit. Moreover, for the construction of amount was used inside the FFT circuit with the set of redundant numbers like {0, 1, 2, 3}. As a result, the defects in lines were reduced and it turned out to be effective in the aspect of normality an regularity when it was used designing VLSI(Very Large Scale Integration). To multiply FFT, the time and size of the operation was used toed as LUT(Lood Up Table).

Fast Search with Data-Oriented Multi-Index Hashing for Multimedia Data

  • Multi-index hashing (MIH) is the state-of-the-art method for indexing binary codes, as it di-vides long codes into substrings and builds multiple hash tables. However, MIH is based on the dataset codes uniform distribution assumption, and will lose efficiency in dealing with non-uniformly distributed codes. Besides, there are lots of results sharing the same Hamming distance to a query, which makes the distance measure ambiguous. In this paper, we propose a data-oriented multi-index hashing method (DOMIH). We first compute the covariance ma-trix of bits and learn adaptive projection vector for each binary substring. Instead of using substrings as direct indices into hash tables, we project them with corresponding projection vectors to generate new indices. With adaptive projection, the indices in each hash table are near uniformly distributed. Then with covariance matrix, we propose a ranking method for the binary codes. By assigning different bit-level weights to different bits, the returned bina-ry codes are ranked at a finer-grained binary code level. Experiments conducted on reference large scale datasets show that compared to MIH the time performance of DOMIH can be improved by 36.9%-87.4%, and the search accuracy can be improved by 22.2%. To pinpoint the potential of DOMIH, we further use near-duplicate image retrieval as examples to show the applications and the good performance of our method.

  • Recently, as the scale of the cultural content business market is being growed, it required that we should introduce the Korean music culture which is unique and competitive cultural contents to the worldwide. This paper proposes a Samulnori Ensemble System (SES), using a touch interface which plays the Korean traditional musical instruments. A SES consists of the Control Device which supports touch functions, the Performance Manager that detects signals from the Control Device and plays a melody, and the Communication Manager making a ensemble among the possible devices. Also, using the Network Time Protocol which is part of Synchronization Manager can be paly different speed communication environments. We utilized multi-touch functions to operate the system. We also implemented multi-touch interface and multi-play with other player for fun and interesting who are not interested Samulnori.

  • The interactive display is providing various interaction modes to users through various ubiquitous computing technologies. These methods were studied for their interactions, but the limits that it is provided to only single user and the device usability were generated. In this paper, we propose a new type of spatial multi interaction interface that provide the various spatial touch interactive to multi users in the ambient display environment. Therefore, we generate the interaction surface so that a user can interact through the IR-LEDs Array Bar installed in the ceiling of the ambient display environment. At this time, a user can experience the various interactions through the spatial touch in an interaction surface. Consequently, this system offers the interactive display and interface method that the users can interact through natural hand movement without the portable devices.

  • Multi-layered material (sandwich panel) consists of double-sided steel plate which is incombustible material or similar material and core material which is not incombustible material. In case of sandwich panel which uses combustible material as insulation, flames spread inside the steel plate at the time of fire so that it is difficult to extinguish fire from the outside and flames spread rapidly and may cause the building to collapse. The current Building Act requires the sandwich panel to secure fire-retardant performance according to the purpose and size of building. In this study, the fire spreading prevention structure applied to partial exterior walls was applied to multi-layered material and its effect was measured through full scale fire test and the possibility to secure fire safety of buildings by applying the fire spreading prevention structure to multi-layered material in future was presented.
