  • This paper presents a procedure of implementing a robust controller for a paper-making plant in DCSs. A paper-making process generally has triple problems to automatically tune its output qualities : Long transport delays which are not able to be simply linearized. The transfer matrix of the process is not square. And every plant model has some uncertainty in low and middle frequency region. To tackle these problems, a multi-input / multi-output (MIMO) plant model having some uncertainty was derived by considering some physical and mechanical principles of the process.   • Since the major cellular data service providers in U.S, Japan as well as in Korea started the LTE (Long Term Evolution) service, there has been more strong need for the methods that can accurately measure the MIMO (Multi Input-Multi Output) OTA (Over The Air) performance of LTE handsets because the performance of the MIMO antenna determines the data throughput in the downlink. In this paper, the hand effect on the MIMO antenna performance is analyzed by numerically and experimentally. The hand effect on the LTE mobile handset is analyzed by measuring the link level performance in the MIMO OTA system.

  • This paper presents a pattern-switchable microstrip patch antenna with loop structure. The loop structure for switchable radiation beam pattern is connected with feeding line of the microstrip patch antenna. As changing switch on/off state, the radiation beam pattern can be changed. The target frequency is 2.4 GHz and maximum radiation gain is 3.2dBi. The proposed antenna is useful for diversity antenna and smart antenna in modern wireless communication including MIMO (Multi-Input Multi-Output) and WLAN system. The sizes of the rectangular patch and the ground plane are $28mm{\times}28mm$ and $40mm{\times}50mm$, respectively. The simulation and experimental results show that the antenna radiation pattern can be changed with switch on/off configuration.

  • This paper is estimating a target direction of arrival with incident to receiver in spatial. This paper presented covariance using constraint matrix to correlation interference signal cancellation in multi input multi output array antennas system. we proposed a target direction of arrival estimation algorithm using cost function and minimum variance method. Through simulation, we were analysis a performance to compare general SPT-LCMV algorithm and proposal algorithm. We showed that proposal algorithm improve more target estimation than general SPT-LCMV algorithm in direction of arrival.

  • In this paper, a terrestrial transmission system is proposed for the next generation digital television (DTV) system by applying a hybrid multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology based on linear dispersion codes (LDCs). The digital video broadcasting-2nd generation terrestrial (DVB-T2) system adopted a space time block code (STBC) for improving receive performance. However, the data rate of STBC is not increased in proportion to the transmitter. The hybrid STBC scheme utilizes several STBC transmission blocks for increasing data rate. It is possible to increase the data rate and performance in the receiver by utilizing LDC. The performances of the proposed and conventional hybrid STBC schemes are evaluated through computer simulations.

  • In this paper, we improve a time-domain channel estimation algorithm with multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems for the next-generation digital television (DTV). The conventional algorithm use orthogonal codes for separating channels from the time-domain orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols. However. it has the disadvantage of reduced data-rate because of many pilots. The improved algorithm shows better performance than the conventional one even with reduced number of pilots. The improved algorithm is evaluated by computer simulations.

  • In wireless communication systems, jamming attack is a critical threat. Especially, reactive jamming can jam when the sender and receiver are communicating, which can maximize the attack efficiency of jamming. In this paper, we use the property of multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technology to achieve jamming resilient orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) communications. In particular, we use MIMO interference cancellation to remove the jamming signals strategically. We first investigate the reactive jamming attack model and their impacts on the MIMO-OFDM systems. We then present an iterative channel estimation algorithm that exploits MIMO interference cancellation. Our simulations show various anti-jamming methods and demonstrate the efficiency of our proposed algorithm under the reactive jamming attack.

  • An efficient multi-stage rectifier for wireless power transfer in deep implant medical devices is implemented using $0.18-{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The presented three-stage rectifier employs a cross-coupled topology to boost a small input AC signal from the external device to produce a 1.2-1.5 V output DC signal for the implant device. The designed rectifier achieves a maximum measured power conversion efficiency of 70% at 13.56 MHz under the conditions of a low 0.6-Vpp RF input signal with a $10-k{\Omega}$ output load resistance.

  • This study develops an automatic berthing control algorithm for ships with a bow thruster and a stern thruster as well as a rudder. A nonlinear mathematical model for low speed maneuvering of ships is used to develop a MIMO(multi-input multi-output) nonlinear control algorithm. The algorithm consists of two parts, which are forward velocity control and heading angle control. The control algorithm is designed based on the longitudinal and yaw dynamic models of ships. The desired heading angle is obtained by the so called "Line of Sight" method. An optimal control force allocation method of the rudder and the thrusters is suggested. The nonlinear control algorithms are tested by numerical simulations using MATLAB, and shows good tracking performances.

  • This paper presents a target localization scheme for distributed Multi-input Multi-output(MIMO) radar system using ToA measurements obtained from multiple transmitter and receiver pairs. The proposed method can locate the target from an arbitrary initial point by iteratively finding the Taylor linear approximation equation. The simulation results show that proposed method achieves the better mean square error(MSE) performance than the existing target localization methods, and furthermore, attains Cramer-Rao Lower Bound(CRLB).
