Pitch Calculation of 4-layer HTS Power Transmission Cable far Balanced Sharing Current

  • A typical HTS power transmission cable has multi-layer conductor structure to increase the current capacity. The tapes of the innermost layer are wound on a round former, and adjacent tapes of another layer are separated by a thin insulating film. However, usually the current is not evenly distributed among the layers because of inductance difference of each layer, and the inductance is provided by the winding pitch of each layer's tape. Consequently n method to make the current distribution more uniform is a adjusting the tape winding pitch, hence reduce the AC loss. This paper describes a current distribution by adjusting a tape winding pitch of each layer. Also, this paper shows recommendations for future cable conductor prototypes.

  • In this paper an application of centralized pitch angle controller for fixed speed wind turbines based wind farm to mitigate load frequency fluctuation is presented. Reference signal for the pitch angle of each wind turbine is calculated by using proposed centralized control system based on wind speed information. The wind farm in the model system is connected to a multi machine power system which is composed of 4 synchronous generators and a load. Simulation analyses have been carried out to investigate the performance of the controller using real wind speed data. It is concluded that the load frequency of the system can be controlled smoothly.

  • In this paper, wavelet transform with multi-resolution property is used to improve the accuracy of pitch estimation of speech signal. Pitch detection of speech signal is based on the local maxima by using wavelet transform. The wavelet transform of a signal is a multiscale decomposition that is well localized in space and frequency. The proposed pitch defection algorithm is suitable for both low-pitched and high-pitched speakers.

Flux Loss and Neutron Diffraction Measurement Ag-sheathed Bi-2223 Tapes in terms of Flux Creep

  • Alternating current (AC) losses of two Bi-2223 ([Bi, Pb]: Sr: Ca: Cu: O = 2:2:2:3) tapes [(Tape I, un-twist-pitch) and the other with a twist-pitch of 10 mm (Tape II)] were measured and compared. These samples, produced by the powder-in-(Ag) tube (PIT) method, are multi-filamentary. Also, it's produced by non-twist and different twist pitch (8, 10, 13, 30, 50 and 70 mm). The critical current measurement was carried out under the environment in liquid Nitrogen and in zero-field by 4-probe method. Susceptibility measurements were conducted while cooling in a magnetic field. Flux loss measurements were conducted as a function of ramping rate, frequency and field direction. The AC flux loss increases as the twist-pitch of the tapes decreased, in agreement with the Norris Equation. Neutron-diffraction measurements have been carried out investigate the crystal structure, magnetic structures, and magnetic phase transitions in Bi-2223([Bi, Pb]:Sr:Ca:Cu:O)

Influence of MWCNTs on Fracture Toughness of MWCNTs/Nickel-Pitch Fiber/Epoxy Composites

  • The influence of MWCNTs on fracture toughness properties of MWCNTs/Nickel-Pitch Fibers/epoxy composites (MWCNTs/Ni-PFs/epoxy) was investigated according to MWCNTs content. Nickel-Pitch-based carbon fibers (Ni-PFs) were prepared by electroless nickel-plating. The surface properties of Ni-PFs were determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS). The fracture toughness of MWCNTs/Ni-PFs/epoxy was assessed by critical stress intensity factor ($K_{IC}$) and critical strain energy release rate ($G_{IC}$). From the results, it was found that the fracture toughness properties of MWCNTs/Ni-PFs/epoxy were enhanced with increasing MWCNTs content, whereas the value decreased above 5 wt.%. MWCNTs content. This was probably considered that the MWCNTs entangled with each other in epoxy due to an excess of MWCNTs.

다극 회전자를 갖는 영구자석 기기의 코깅토크 저감을 위한 해석적 접근 및 실험적 검증 (Analytical Approach and Experimental Verification for the Cogging Torque Reduction of Permanent Magnet Machines with Multi-pole Rotor)

  • In order to reduce the cogging torque, by predicting the variation of the cogging torque according to pole arc/pitch ratio by analytical and FE methods, pole arc/pitch ratio which makes the cogging torque minimum are determined. And then, the measurements of cogging torque for permanent magnet generators with determined pole arc/pitch ratio are presented. The reasons for the error between predicted and measured value are discussed fully in terms of the shape of permanent magnet. Finally, by confirming that predicted results for cogging torque according to pole arc/pitch ratio and skew are shown in good agreement with those obtained from measured one, the validation of analysis results is confirmed.

세로축 자동조종 비행제어법칙 개선에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Improvement of Pitch Autopilot Flight Control Law)

  • 고등훈련기급에 탑재되어 있는 전기식 비행제어계통 (digital fly-by-wire flight control system)은 통합 다기능 감지기(IMFP : Integrated Multi-Function Probe)를 이용하여 항공기의 고도/속도/받음각 정보를 획득한다. 고등훈련기에는 3개의 IMFP가 장착되어 있으며, 이는 비행제어법칙에 3중의 공기정보를 제공한다. IMFP로부터 제공된 3개의 공기 정보는 중간 값을 채택하여 보다 신뢰성 있는 정보를 비행제어법칙에 제공한다. 초음속 비행시험 결과, 초음속 영역에서 발생하는 잡음이 포함된 IMFP로 인하여 고도유지모드 자동조종장치를 작동시켰을 때, 세로축으로 진동현상이 발생하였다. 이러한 현상은 자동조종장치를 이용하여 비행을 할 경우, 항공기 안정성 및 조종성을 저해할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 초음속 영역에서 발생하는 IMFP 잡음정보가 자동조종장치에 영향을 미치지 않도록 비행제어법칙을 설계하였으며, 제어법칙설계 및 귀환이득을 조율하여 선회비행 시에 피치자세각 유지모드를 개선하였다. 설계된 비행제어법칙은 비실시간 시뮬레이션 및 비행시험을 통하여 검증하였다.

Study of LST Surface Modification effect on friction and wear at lubricating condition

  • Hemispherical dimples with diameter, ø=$60{\mu}m$ and depth, d= $30{\mu}m$ were created on the metal and ceramics surfaces using INYA 10 watt Laser of 1064 nm wavelength. This study reports the influence of dimple pitch on friction and wear behavior rather than dimple size, depth and density. LST was performed on the specimens with dimple pitch and density in the range of 80 to-$200{\mu}m$ and 44 to 7 %, respectively. Surface topography was analyzed by using roughness measurement, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and optical microscopy. Friction and wear characteristics were analyzed on textured surfaces at lubricating environment to observe the effect of surface texturing on reduction of friction and wear. Reduction on coefficient of friction was achieved by more than 70% due to the dual behavior of dimples as wear (debris) traps and lubricant reservoirs. Wear reduced significantly for the textured surface as compared to the polished surface. Moreover, the friction coefficient of the textured specimens reduced with increasing load and speed which may be attributed to the transition of lubrication regime.

Calibration of a Five-Hole Multi-Function Probe for Helicopter Air Data Sensors

  • In the flight of air vehicles, accurate air data information is required to control them effectively. Especially, helicopters are often put in drastic motion involved with high angle of attacks in order to perform difficult missions. Among various sensors, the multi function probe (MFP) has been used in the present study mainly owing to its advantages in structural simplicity and capability of providing various information such as static and total pressure, speed, and pitch and yaw angles. In this study, a five-hole multi-function probe (FHMFP) is developed and its calibration is conducted using multiple regressions. In this work a calibration study on the FHMFP, an air data sensor for helicopters, is reported. It is shown that the pitch and yaw angles' accuracy of calibration is ${\pm}0.91^{\circ}$ at a cone angle of $0^{\circ}{\sim}30^{\circ}$ and ${\pm}2.0^{\circ}$ at $30^{\circ}{\sim}43^{\circ}$, respectively, which is summarized in table 3.

  • This paper deals with reduction and analysis of cogging torque for permanent magnet synchronous generators with multi-pole rotor for wind power applications. Open-circuit field solutions are derived using a magnetic vector potential and a two-dimensional (2-d) polar coordinate systems. On the basis of derived open-circuit field solutions and 2-d permeance functions, we also derive open-circuit field solutions considering stator slotting effects. By using open-circuit field solutions considering stator slotting effects and energy variation methods, this paper analytically predicts the cogging torque considering skew effects. All analytical results are shown in good agreement with those obtained from finite element (FE) analyses. In order to reduce the cogging torque, by predicting the variation of the cogging torque according to pole arc/pitch ratio using analytical and FE methods, pole arc/pitch ratio which makes the cogging torque minimum are determined. However, we confirm that measured value for cogging torque of the PMG with determined pole arc/pitch ratio is twice higher than predicted value. Therefore, the reason for an error between measured and predicted cogging torque is discussed in terms of a shape of PMs and is proved experimentally.
