3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스 모델에서 동영상의 반사 효과를 고속으로 처리하는 방법 (A Method to Rapidly Process the Reflection Effect of Moving Pictures in 3 Dimensional Computer Graphics Models)

  • 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스에서는 3차원 모델의 표면이 유리나 거울과 같이 반사 특성을 갖는 경우, 반사 효과를 반영하여 렌더링(rendering)하게 된다. 3차원 모델에서 동영상이 물체 표면에 반사되는 경우, 반사 특성을 갖는 3차원 모델의 표면은 동영상의 변화에 따른 반사 영상이 표현되도록 해야 한다. 3차원 컴퓨터 그래픽스에서 사용하는 반사 모델을 이용하여 동영상의 반사 영상을 렌더링하게 되면 처리시간이 많이 걸리게 되므로 고성능 하드웨어의 지원이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 3차원 컴퓨터그래픽스에서 3차원 모델에서 반사 특성을 갖는 표면에 동영상의 반사 영상을 고속으로 생성하는 방법을 제안한다.

  • A set of modal parameters of a stay-cable have been extracted from a moving picture captured by a digital camera supported by shaking hands. It is hard to identify the center of targets attached on the cable surface from the blurred cable motion image, because of the high speed motion of cable, low sampling frequency of camera, and the shaking effect of camera. This study proposes a multi-template matching algorithm to resolve such difficulties. In addition, a sensitivity-based system identification algorithm is introduced to extract the natural frequencies and damping ratios from the ambient cable vibration data. Three sets of vibration tests are conducted to examine the validity of the proposed algorithms. The results show that the proposed technique is pretty feasible for extracting modal parameters from the severely shaking motion pictures.

  • The simulator of a vehicle equipped with hydrostatic transmission and hydraulic accumulator type-braking energy regeneration system is developed using a PC. The simulator receives the accelerator pedal angle and the brake pedal angle generated by the operator using the keyboard, updates the state variables of the energy regeneration system responding to the input signals, and draws the moving pictures of the accumulator piston, pump plate angle and pump/motor plate angle every drawing time on the PC monitor. Also, the operator can observe the accel pedal angle, brake pedal angle, pressures of accumulators, vehicle speed, hydraulic torque, engine torque and air brake torque representing the operation of braking energy regeneration system through the PC monitor every drawing time. The simulator can be a very useful tool to design and improve the braking energy regeneration system.

  • This paper presetns a 2-D DCT architecture adopting accurac y compensator for reducing the hardware complexity and increasing processing speed in VL\ulcornerSI implementation. In the application fields such as moving pictures experts group (MPEG) and joint photographic experts group (JPEG), 2-D DCT processor must be implemented precisely enough to meet the accuracy specifications of the ITU-T H.261. Almost all of 2-D DCT processors have been implemented using many multiplications and accumulations of matrices and vectors. The number of multiplications and accumulations seriously influence on comlexity and speed of 20D DCT processor. In 2-D DCT with fixed-point calculations, the computation bit width must be sufficiently large for the above accuracy specifications. It makes the reduction of hardware complexity hard. This paper proposes the accuracy compensator which compensates the accuracy of the finite word length calculation. 2-D DCT processor with the proposed accuracy compensator shows fairly reduced hardware complexity and improved processing speed.

  • 블록 코딩을 기반으로 하는 영상의 압축 부호화는 영상 및 비디오 압축 표준으로 적용되어 왔다. 그런데 영상 복원 시 발생하는 블록효과에 대한 효율적인 측정방법을 찾아보기 힘든 실정이다. 본 논문에서는 서브블록 DCT부호화를 이용한 복원 영상에 대한 객관적인 블록효과 측정방법을 제안한다. 제안한 방법이 주관적인 순위매김과 일치하는 블록효과 측정방법임을 실험결과로서 입증한다 또한 제안한 이 새로운 측정방법은 복원 영상에서 쉽게 그리고 효율적으로 블록효과를 측정하는데 널리 사용될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

  • For LCD-TVs with full capability to show moving pictures and LCD monitors for multi media use, it is necessary that the switching times of Liquid Crystal (LC) mixtures are within one frame (16.7ms). In order to achieve faster switching times, new LC materials have been identified, mainly focusing on the further reduction of the rotational viscosity (${\gamma}1$).

  • The DMB recently standardized in Korea is a Eureka-147 DAB(Digital Audio Broadcasting)-based standard which is able to provide multimedia services including moving pictures, still images, text and etc. That has the structure to add the MPEG media codec and the MPEG system, namely, video-multiplexer to the DAB system. In this paper, we analysis the video-multiplexer of the DMB standard and propose a new multiplexer, namely. M4GM(MPEG-4 General Mux) included in the DMB vido-multiplexer for the performance improvement with respect to the transmission efficiency and the expansible functions. In addition, we simulate the two video-multiplexers and then compare and estimate their performance entirely.

  • This paper proposes a new frame interpolation algorithm mainly designed for intra-mode blocks. In order to improve the accuracy of pixel interpolation, the new algorithm exploits two different interpolation modes for inter-mode blocks and intra-mode blocks, respectively. The use of the two modes reduces ghost artifacts but increases blocking artifacts between the blocks interpolated by different modes. To reduce blocking artifacts, this paper proposes an interpolation algorithm that attempts to isolate a fast moving object and interpolates such objects as the intra-mode while the remaining blocks are interpolated as the inter-mode. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm improves subjective and objective quality of pictures by reducing ghost artifacts.

다초점 3차원 영상 표시 장치 (Multi-focus 3D Display)

  • A HMD type multi-focus 3D display system is developed and proof about satisfaction of eye accommodation is tested. Four LEDs(Light Emitting Diode) and a DMD are used to generate four parallax images at single eye and any mechanical part is not included in this system. The multi-focus means the ability of monocular depth cue to various depth levels. By achieving multi-focus function, we developed a 3D display system for only one eye, which can satisfy the accommodation to displayed virtual objects within defined depth. We could achieve a result that focus adjustment is possible at 5 step depths in sequence within 2m depth for only one eye. Additionally, the change level of burring depending on the focusing depth is tested by captured photos and moving pictures of video camera and several subjects. And the HMD type multi-focus 3D display can be applied to a monocular 3D display and monocular AR 3D display.
