  • As the reuse of content becomes a strategy for the entertainment industry, managerial insight on customers is needed to be cultivated in order to run a successful business. This study analyzes the impact of previous satisfaction on consumption intention for content in another medium. To do this, two data sets are collected: cases of movie-to-TV series and TV series-to-movie and analyze them using a structural equation modeling approach. The results of our analysis show that satisfied viewers of a movie tend to communicate their positive feelings via word-of-mouth communication and demonstrate repurchase intention of another medium afterward. However, satisfaction does not automatically lead to repurchase intention in another medium. While satisfied viewers of a TV series show a statistically positive repurchase intention for a movie, satisfied viewers of a movie do not show a direct repurchase intention for a TV series. This result demonstrates an asymmetric relationship between satisfaction and repurchase intention across media, and its strategic implications are further discussed.

There are many designers who were in charge of the film costume, but the present study examined centering on designers who participated aiming to create the image of a character from the stage of manufacturing a movie. It presented and analyzed visual materials by dividing four genres such as a historical drama movie, a horror movie, a fantasy movie, and a modern-play movie, and by selecting a typical work. A Historical drama movie needs to be investigated costume by the historical background in a movie, but inside it was shown clothes that were elaborately reproduced and newly created. A horror movie plays a role of medium that reflects the human society and the internal mentality of a human being along with the attribute of entertainment. As a genre that requires much costume, make-up and special effect aiming at dramatic effect, a role of film costume possesses great weight. As a fantasy movie is a field based on 'fiction' of a writer who creates a work, it is a field that requires creativity of a costume designer most. As a modern-play movie is what reproduces reality, it best reflects the phases of that time, and is the field that is influenced by costume or fashion trend. Costume needs to be designed in a bid to allow spectators to be inspired the wholly united and harmonious mood with leading a story of a movie, and the individual image.

  • Today many countries consider the culture and technology industry as a high value-added industry, and make intensive investments into cultural content for its growth. In the culture and technology industry, the OSMU (One Source Multi Use) business structure, which creates content using diverse media based on one original work and thus generates a high added value, has received much attention. Recently Korea has also witnessed an increase in the cases in which the cartoon medium is converted into movies or drama. Cartoons are now put to the most use as an original source, in which the process of active secondary reproduction and recreation are taking place. In the process of recreating original works, media characteristics function as an important variable. Stories are newly reproduced by the detailed information (form) characteristics of each medium. Despite those developments, however, there are not as many active comparative studies on media-converted works as there are actual productions of them, which calls for a need to more fully activate specific comparisons of cases. By comparing and investigating original works and secondarily recreated ones through media conversion, the study made comparisons between the cartoon and movie medium and described the common and different features of the two media in terms of detailed information characteristics. In order to provide a specific case, it also analyzed the cartoon Tajja and movie Tajja through media conversion, focusing on 'conversion of narrative structure.'

  • Through Rene Girard's theory of triangle of the desire, this research investigates the mimetic nature of desire as shown in the main character of the movie The Servant. This paper analyzes the structural transformation of desire in the character, which is revealed by the process of reinterpretation via the medium change and convergence from Chunhyangjeon, a classic oral novel in Korea, to The Servant, a movie created by director Dae-woo Kim in 2010. The Servant is a meaningful research subject as the transformation of the inner desire of the character is accomplished by boldly designating Bangja, who is supposed to be a minor character, as the protagonist. In particular, Rene Girard's argument on the indirectness of desire in the theory of triangle of the desire helps understand the point where the character' inner desire, which naturally occurred in the existing narrative, transforms into the mimetic desire by an intermediary. This indirectness of the mimetic desire of the main character suggests a similarity with modern men's vanity which is offered by the capitalist era. Through this, the modern meaning of the mimetic aspect of desire as revealed by the transformation from the movie The Servant to Chunhyangjeon can be understood.

  • In the past, the elements that determine the movie performance were directors, movie stars, the number of opening screens, on-line ratings or distributing agencies. However, the word-of-mouth effect has changed this trends. So the influence of word of mouth grows more and more strong at this stage of the Internet and smart phones being widely prevalent. I fix my sight upon SNS which is one of the medium of arousing the word-of-mouth effect, and I have a purpose to cast light upon a real example of the influence of SNS on the movie performance. The way is to analyze SNS activities that accompany the process of production and showing of , which is said to have had an beneficial effect of SNS among the enormously successful movies last year. It is relevant to provide a new milestone regarding the movie performance through the successful case of SNS activities by examining the word-of-mouth activities through SNS in the manner of the period division of the pre-release, the early stage of release and the maturity.
