  • When the traction motor for urban transit E.M.U is driven with VVVF controlled inverter, the insulation degradation factors on the 200 Class insulation system of VPI process are analyzed with considering dielectric, mechanical properties, thermal stability, chemical resistivity and compatibility. A new test method of complex accelerating degradation is proposed to evaluate the insulation reliability and the long-term life including harmonic loss and transient surge stress due to PWM inverter drive.

  • This paper proposes a novel method with pseudo-on-line scheme using look-up table based on the genetic algorithm. The technique is a pseudo-on-line method that optimally estimate the parameters of fuzzy PID(FPID) controller for systems with non-linearity using the genetic algorithm which does not use the gradient and finds the global optimum of an un-constraint optimization problem. The proposed controller(GFPID) is applied to speed control of 3-phase induction motor and its computer simulation is carried out. Simulation results show that the proposed method is more excellent than conventional FPID and PID controllers.

  • In this paper, we describe the starting and synchronizing methods in the linear induction synchronous motor. The proposed motor consists of one pair of linear synchronous motors (LSMs) and an additional linear induction motor (LIM). The primary cores have a common ring winding, and solid conductors are arranged in both LIM and LSM. From the investigation by analysis and experiment, we verify that the proposed motor is effective for practical use.

  • This paper presents a method for determining of the equivalent d-q model parameters of three-phase squirrel cage induction motors. The method is based on the use of a finite-element field calculation which enables the precise slot geometry to be modelled accurately, and includes the effects of magnetic saturation of iron core. The proposed method can reduce computational costs compared with the method that needs the iterative field analysis to obtain the impedance. It is verified that the circuit inductances are shown as functions of the current.

  • In this paper, sample coils for stator form-wound winding of traction motor were made for the accelerative thermal degradation composed of heat, vibration, moisture and overvoltage. In progress of test periods, diagnosis tests such as insulation resistance, dielectric loss and partial discharge were investigated. Reliability and expected life were evaluated on the insulation system for 200 class traction motor considering various environmental stress.

  • Rotor eccentricity exists extensively in BLDC motors because of manufacturing imprecision or bearing defects. In this paper, magnetic fields of a BLDC motor with static rotor eccentricity are analyzed by the time- stepping finite element method. Torque ripple, cogging torque, winding current, counter-em! and unbalanced magnetic force characteristics are obtained. These results are compared with those of a non-eccentric BLDC motor.

  • The rotor of the BLDC motor has permanent magnets on its surface, and is alike the structure of the rotor of synchronous motors. When designing the BLDC motor which has a limited volume in a specific environment, it is important to consider the geometry of the rotor and the length of the airgap. This paper describes a design procedure by analyzing the induced voltage and cogging torque with changing the width of magnets and length of the airgap. And we made a prototype of BLDC motor with this design procedure and our experiment result shows that the cogging torque can be reduced significantly. Also we find a good agreement between the result of experiment and simulation values using Finite Element Analysis.

  • Linear Induction Motor is driven by inverter for speed control. Inverter contains many harmonics that was generated when the circuits is switching for a energy conversion. This harmonics is injurious, and harmful on the operational efficiency of motors. In this paper, it is certified the efficiency and power factor of LIMs and inverters in consideration with harmonics.

  • Fuzzy control has been researched for application of industrial processes which have no accurate mathematical model and could not controlled by conventional methods because of a lack of quantitative input-output data. Intelligent control approach based on fuzzy logic could directly reflex human thinking and natural language to controller comparing with conventional methods. In this paper, fuzzy controller is implemented to acquire operator's knowledge. The tested system is constructed for sending a ball to the goal position using wind from two DC motors in the path. This system contains non-linearity and uncertainty because of the characteristic of aerodynamics inside the path. Ball position is measured by a vision camera. The system used in this experiment could be hardly modeled by mathematic methods and could not be easily controlled by linear control manners. The controller, in this paper is designed based on the input-output data and experimental knowledge obtained by trials.

  • This paper deals with the effect of teeth width variation in Permanent Magnet DC motor. As teeth width varies, effective flux density is influenced, which is closely related to torque-speed characteristics, output power, and efficiency of the motor. In this study. motor design was carried out using finite element method with various teeth width. Prototype motors under constraints of same armature diameter, material and axial length were made and their performances were tested.
