  • This paper propose the method that measure the main system parameters for current control of a.c. motor adopting the vector control technique. The automatical method that tuning PI control gains for current control of servo motors are used frequently through the information of main system parameters, wire resistance and inductance. In this study, the techniques to measure these two system parameters through the control of 3-phase inverter are presented. These control and measuring method are implemented by measuring output phase current obtained as a results of the step current control using simple proportional feedback input. Moreover, this method use freewheeling current of inverter at special switching mode for measuring inductance. This analytic strategy is could measure and calculate the system parameters without the complex measurement algorithm and new additional measuring circuits. That is could measure the total resistance and total inductance including wiring resistance and conduction resistance of switching devices using real driving circuits to control the motors.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to analyze the mechanical and leaf speed accuracy of the dynamic multileaf collimator (DMLC) and determine the appropriate period of quality assurance (QA). Materials and Methods : The quality assurance of the DMLC equipped with Millennium 120 leaves has been performed total 92 times from January 2012 to June 2014. The the accuracy of leaf position and isocenter coincidence for MLC were checked using the graph paper and Gafchromic EBT film, respectively. The stability of leaf speed was verified using a test file requiring the leaves to reach maximum leaf speed during the gantry rotation. At the end of every leaf speed QA, dynamic dynalog files created by MLC controller were analyzed using dynalog file viewer software. This file concludes the information about the planned versus actual position for all leaves and provides error RMS (root-mean square) for individual leaf deviations and error histogram for all leaf deviations. In this study, the data obtained from the leaf speed QA were used to screen the performance degradation of leaf speed and determine the need for motor replacement. Results : The leaf position accuracy and isocenteric coincidence of MLC was observed within a tolerance range recommanded from TG-142 reports. Total number of motor replacement were 56 motors over whole QA period. For all motors replaced from QA, gradually increased patterns of error RMS values were much more than suddenly increased patterns of error RMS values. Average error RMS values of gradually and suddenly increased patterns were 0.298 cm and 0.273 cm, respectively. However, The average error RMS values were within 0.35 cm recommended by the vendor, motors were replaced according to the criteria of no counts with misplacement > 1 cm. On average, motor replacement for gradually increased patterns of error RMS values 22 days. 28 motors were replaced regardless of the leaf speed QA. Conclusion : This study performed the periodic MLC QA for analyzing the mechanical and leaf speed accuracy of the dynamic multileaf collimator (DMLC). The leaf position accuracy and isocenteric coincidence showed whthin of MLC evaluation is observed within the tolerance value recommanded by TG-142 report. Based on the result obtained from leaf speed QA, we have concluded that QA protocol of leaf speed for DMLC was performed at least bimonthly in order to screen the performance of leaf speed. The periodic QA protocol can help to ensure for delivering accurate IMRT treatment to patients maintaining the performance of leaf speed.

  • In order to evaluate the effect of permanent softening behavior on springback prediction, 2D-draw bending simulations were compared with experiments for friction stir welded DP590 steel sheets. To account fur the nonlinear hardening behavior, the combined isotropic-kinematic hardening law was utilized with and without considering the permanent softening behavior during reverse loading. Also, the non-quadratic orthotropic yield function, Yld2000-2d, was used to describe the anisotropic initial-yielding behavior of the base sheet while anisotropic properties of the weld zone were ignored for simplicity.

  • In order to investigate the influence of anisotropy on formability and also to obtain guidelines for the stamping process design in friction stir welded TWB (tailor welded blank), the aluminum ally 6111-T4 sheet was welded with three different types of combination: RD||RD, TD||RD and TD||TD (Here, RD and TD mean the rolling direction and transverse direction, respectively) and then hemisphere dome stretching and cylindrical cup drawing tests were carried out. In addition, the numerical analysis was performed to confirm the validity of experimental results. For the numerical analysis, the non-quadratic orthotropic yield function, Yld2004-18p was utilized to represent precise anisotropic properties.

  • The use of a combined starter/generator integrated into the drive train of an automobile offers several possibilities for improvement of fuel economy The use of such a starter/generator system is made feasible by a switch from a 14 volts electrical system to a 42 volts system, however, the sizing of the components is not a trivial problem. This study combines a dynamic electromechanical model of the starter, battery and power electronics with the nonlinear mechanics of the piston/crankshaft system and a thermofluid model of the compression and expansion processes to investigate the cold start problem. The example involves the start of an eight cylinder engine at -25 degrees Celsius. This paper shows how the mechatronic V8 engine of an automotive starter/generator system for the startability works well.

  • A linear motor has many advantages next to conventional feed mechanisms: high transitional speed and acceleration, high control performance, and good positioning accuracy at high speed. Through the omission of a power transfer element, the linear motor shows no wear and no backlash, has a long lifetime, and is easy to assemble. A disadvantage of the linear motor is low efficiency and resultant high-temperature rise in itself and neighboring structures during operation. This paper presents the thermal behavior of the linear motor as a feed mechanism in machine tools. To improve the thermal behavior, an insulation layer is used. By placing the insulation layer between the primary part and the machine table, both the temperature difference and the temperature fluctuation in the machine table due to a varying motor load are reduced.

Especially the influence of end-effect due to the moving magnet is investigated in detail. Also partial excitation of primary current for better efficiency and its switching behavior are suggested Capability of PMLSM which is related to speed-force feasibility judging whether motor can meet the desired specifications in the dynamics are investigated. Furthermore control characteristics of PMLSM are considered to verify the validity of dynamic capability in running condition.

  • This paper presents a discrete wavelet transform approach for detecting voltage sags initialized by fault conditions and starting of larger motors. The proposed technique is based on utilizing the summation value of D1(at scale 1) coefficients in multiresolution analysis(MRA) based on the discrete wavelet transform. In this paper, the proposed technique is tested under various cases of voltage sags. It is shown that the voltage sag detection technique based on the wavelet transform is a satisfactory and reliable method for detecting voltage sags in power quality disturbance analysis.

  • A transverse flux, PM-exited linear motor (TFM-LM) with inner mover was designed and built. Its output power density is higher and its weight is lower than those of the conventional PM exited linear synchronous motors (PM LSM). To obtain the maximum thrust force under the given volume, the thrust force density with respect to the ratio of the slot width and the length of pole pitch is analyzed by the 3-dimension finite element method (FEM). Finally, calculated static thrust forces was compared with the experimental values. The calculated and measured performance of the transverse flux, PM-exited linear motor with inner mover revealed great potential for system improvements by reducing the mass of the linear motor. For examples, when this motor was applied to a ropeless elevator, it was possible to increase the power density by more than 400% over the conventional PM-LSM. The results of this study recommend this type of motor for the ropeless elevator or gearless direct linear driving system.
