  • BLDC (Blush-Less Direct Current) motors are widely used for machine tools and ODD (Optic Disc Drive). Topology Optimization is applied to the rotor of a BLDC motor to improve in efficiency and save money. Density method and design sensitivity are derived. The result of topology optimization shows better performance.

  • Recently, in spindle motors for hard disk drive (HDD) devices, fluid dynamic bearings (FDB) with herringbone grooves have come to be used instead of ball bearings due to the demand for high density recording of the devices etc. In this study, a 5-lobe bearing with high bearing stiffness using a sintered material was developed, and the bearing performance was examined by simulated calculations and experiments. As a result, it was clarified that the 5-lobe bearing had the required performance for practical use in the spindle motor for HDD

  • Porous bearings are lubricated the oil that is contained in porous metal. Then they are always used with no oil supply, because of that, widely used electric motors. But, if oil flow out less than the limit, troubles often happen. This report shows that attempt of estimating oil quantity in porous bearing by using calculation that based Reynols' equation and Darcy's law, aimed of developing long life bearing. And comparing with experimental and calculation result, we show possibility of estimating rest oil quantity in porous bearing at steadry state by calculation.

  • In this paper, a simulation model is proposed to evaluate the system effectiveness of underwater battery propulsion systems which consist of motors, main switchboard, generators and batteries. The various operating environments such as emergency situations, equipment's failure and repair, and system performance degradation due to equipment's failures affect the system effectiveness and the environment elements are considered as the input parameters in the simulation model. Some simulation results with estimated data are studied.

  • In this paper, the experimental unit of the cross inductive radio line and two linear induction motors driven by IGBT inverter for train control was made. In actual condition, the track has straight line, but so as to be able to achieve in small space, the unit prepared was shaped into two circular plates. Then by detecting inductive signal, the position data could be obtained. Also the equipment representing speed and thrust of LIM and train position by means of the experimantal unit could be composed.

  • 집중권 5상 유도전동기에서 기본파 $d_1-q_1$와 3고조파 $d_3-q_3$ 공간의 비동기화시 자속밀도의 파형이 왜곡되어 자속이 포화되고 철손이 증가한다. 이러한 현상을 방지하기 위해 두 좌표축의 동기화가 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 자속각의 동기화를 고려한 고정자 자속기준 벡터제어를 제안하고 시뮬레이션을 통하여 그 유효성을 입증한다.

  • Speed output has ripple such as periodic torque ripple if load torque with periodic ripple was injected in AC motor. In this paper, it is proposed method to reduce speed ripple through novel speed control method. It replaces algorithm to compensate torque ripple. Proposed method demonstrated through simulation using MATLAB SIMULINK.

  • In this paper, vector control of induction motor drives using space current vector PWM is presented. The scheme gives advantages, besides robustness to inverter arm-shoot, sinusoidal input current and voltage for induction motors. In addition, space vector PWM for CSI produces faster transient response than conventional pattern PWM. Also, a modulation index control is proposed.

  • In a permanent magnet motor, cogging torque arises from the intersection of the rotor magnets with the steel teeth on the stator. This paper describes design measures which can be taken to reduce the cogging torque. In this paper for the optimal shape design of brushless DC motor, evolution strategy is investigated to find the dimension of stator of BLDC motor that minimizes the cogging torque. The corresponding field analysis is performed by two-dimensional finite element method.
