  • Objective: The objective of this study is to identify the difference in the press behavior characteristics of 3D Touch, which is a new touch interaction of smart phones, and the existing 'Tap and Long Press' touch interaction, and to examine behavior changes upon feedbacks. Background: Since 3D Touch is similar to the existing 'Tap and Long Press' touch interactions in terms of press behavior, which is likely to cause interference, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary study on behavior characteristics of touch interactions. Method: In utilization of smart phones with the 3D Touch function to measure press behavior characteristics of touch interaction, an experiment was conducted where 30 subjects were given a task to press 30 buttons of touch interactions on the screen. During the experiment, two press behavior characteristics-maximum touch pressure and press duration-were analyzed. To grasp changes in behaviors upon feedbacks, the task was carried out in a condition where there was no feedback and in a condition where there were feedbacks of specific critical values. Results: While there was no feedback given, subjects tended to press with much strength (318.98gf, 0.60sec) in the case of 3D Touch, and press the Long Press button for a while (157.12gf, 1.10sec) and press the Tap button with little strength only for a short moment (37.92gf, 0.10sec). 3D Touch and Long Press had an area of intersection in time, but when feedbacks of specific critical values were given, there were behavior calibration effects to adjust the press behavior characteristics of 3D Touch and Long Press. Conclusion: Although interferences are expected between 3D Touch and Long Press due to the similarity of press behaviors, feedbacks induce behavior calibration. Hence, once feedbacks were provided with 3D Touch operated in an appropriate condition of critical pressure, interference between two motions can be minimized. Application: The findings of this study are expected to be utilized as a basis for the values of optimal critical pressure, at which users can easily distinguish 3D Touch from Long Press which is the existing touch interaction.

  • In parallel with evolving information communication technology, M2M(Machine-to-Machine) industry has implemented multi-functional and high-performance systems, and made great strides with IoT(Internet of Things) and IoE(Internet of Everything). Authentication, confidentiality, anonymity, non-repudiation, data reliability, connectionless and traceability are prerequisites for communication security. Yet, the wireless transmission section in M2M communication is exposed to intruders' attacks. Any security issues attributable to M2M wireless communication protocols may lead to serious concerns including system faults, information leakage and privacy challenges. Therefore, mutual authentication and security are key components of protocol design. Recently, secure communication protocols have been regarded as highly important and explored as such. The present paper draws on hash function, random numbers, secret keys and session keys to design a secure communication protocol. Also, this paper tests the proposed protocol with a formal verification tool, Casper/FDR, to demonstrate its security against a range of intruders' attacks. In brief, the proposed protocol meets the security requirements, addressing the challenges without any problems.

  • Purpose: In this study, a comparison was done of the extent of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for preterm and fullterm children during early childhood, and factors affecting HRQoL in the early childhood of premature children were analyzed. Methods: Eighty mothers of children born prematurely and 83 mothers of children born at fullterm listed on two Internet cafes were sampled for this study. The major instrument used for the study was the TNO-AZL Preschool Quality Of Life (TAPQOL) questionnaire. Results: Total score for HRQoL in the premature group was 80.5 (${\pm}9.9$) and for the full term group, 85.0 (${\pm}8.3$), on a 100-point scale. A comparison of the premature group and full term group showed that the domains which scored relatively lower with respect to HRQoL included the stomach, motor function, anxiety, liveliness and communication. Among the factors that have an impact on HRQoL were 'length of stay in neonatal intensive care unit (${\geq}7$ days)' and 'birth weight (<1,000 gm)'. The explanation power of the model was 17%, which was statistically significant. Conclusion: These findings indicate that a differentiated premature infant follow-up program for children who are hospitalized over 7 days in NICU or weighed under 1,000g at birth is urgently needed.

  • The raise of the acceleration can be one of possible methods to increase the scheduled speed of the metropolitan railway system. It is possible to raise the acceleration to the some point by increasing the traction power of the motor. However, there is a limit of the acceleration because the traction power over some level related to the adhesion causes a slip, which prevents from accomplishing the target acceleration. The running resistance is also an important factor to consider. Both the adhesion and the running resistance as well as the traction power vary according to the velocity. Therefore, the standardization of the acceleration needs the analysis of these factors as a function of velocity. In this study, we focus on the advanced urban transit unit(AUTS) for the standardization. We derive a novel equation of the adhesion suitable for the AUTS by investigation of the traction and adhesion equation as well as the experiment data. And finally we propose the standard of the acceleration based on this analysis.

  • Objectives: To measure the quality of life in patients according to virtual cerebral palsy severity by using the Korean version of EQ-5D-Y proxy, Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and Time Trade-Off method (TTO). Methods: The study was conducted in parents of children and adolescents aged 4 to 15 years in Seoul. We analyzed the difference in the utility value according to five levels of cerebral palsy severity in the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and test-retest reliability. Results: 1. There were significant differences in VAS, TTO, and EQ-5D-Y proxy according to the cerebral palsy severity (p<.001). 2. VAS was significantly different according to the respondent's visit to the medical institution, the presence of disease in the respondent, a visit to the child's medical institution, the age of the child, and the sex of the child. The value of TTO was significantly different according to the respondent's visit to the medical institution, respondent's sex, and the age of the child. Also, EQ-5D-Y proxy was significantly different according to the age of the child. 3. Intraclass correlation coefficient values were more than 0.6 for both VAS and TTO at all stages. But for the EQ-5D-Y proxy, the value was less than 0.6 at all stages. Conclusions: The quality of life assessment using EQ-5D-Y proxy showed significant differences in the severity of cerebral palsy. However, large-scale studies using EQ-5D-Y proxy are needed because of low test-retest reliability.

  • The dried rhizomes and roots of Gentiana scabra (GS) have been frequently prescribed as a traditional folk medicine in East Asia (including China, Japan, and Korea) for the treatment of various pathophy-siological conditions, such as inflammatory skin diseases, anorexia, indigestion, gastric infections, and diabetes mellitus. In the present study, the effects of aqueous (GS-W) and ethanolic (GS-E) extracts of GS on gastrointestinal (GI) motor function were investigated by measuring the in vivo gastric emptying rate (GER) and the intestinal transit rate (ITR) in mice. The GER was significantly increased by GS-W at a dose of 1 g/kg. The ITR was significantly increased by GS-W (at doses of 0.1 and 1 g/kg) or GS-E (at a dose of 1 g/kg) in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, the ITR value of GS-W (at a dose of 1 g/kg) appeared to be higher than that of cisapride, which was the most prominent prokinetic agent in the 1900s but was removed from the market in 2000 due to its fatal side effects. The above results suggest that GS-W might be a potential prokinetic agent to replace cisapride.

  • Objectives : Delirium is one of the most common mental illnesses that can affect cognitive function. Melatonin has been shown to be effective in the treatment of insomnia, and recent studies have shown a protective effect to prevent delirium. This study was conducted to investigate the efficacy of melatonin in delirium patients. Methods : All patients were referred to psychiatric department for insomnia and symptoms of delirium, and were diagnosed delirium by the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. We compared base line severity of delirium with K-DRS-R-98-R (Korean version of Delirium Rating Scale revised 98) and after taking 2mg of melatonin, retrospectively. The side effects were also identified by referring to the medical records. Results : A total 21 patients had taken melatonin for insomnia and delirious symptoms. The K-DRS-R-98 scores were decreased from $15.24{\pm}2.64$ before treatment to $6.57{\pm}5.42$ after treatment. And CGI-S scores were also decreased from $4.14{\pm}0.48$ before treatment to $2.81{\pm}0.93$ after treatment (p<0.05). Conclusions : This study illustrates the possibility of melatonin as an effective treatment option for delirious symptoms such as disorientation, motor agitation, lability of affect and hallucinations as well as insomnia, with less concerns of drug side effect. Further study with a larger sample and prospective design will be required to confirm these results.

  • Various treatments can be attempted in patients with intractable epilepsy, in whom the symptoms of seizures are not controlled by various drugs. On the other hand, in patients requiring a surgical method, a preoperative examination is needed to determine the portion of seizure site to be resected. Electrodes are inserted into the cerebral cortex for accurate lesion measurements and safe operation. The electrodes inserted in the cortex not only record the electroencephalography (EEG), but also allow various tests to confirm the function of the part. One of these methods is the evoked potential test. From January 2015 to December 2018, the trends of measured waveforms in were analyzed 70 patients. The somatosensory evoked potential (SSEP) recorded on the electrode inserted in the cerebral cortex can be searched for the pathway of the central sulcus to avoid the primary motor area and primary sensory area. In addition, using the middle latency auditory evoked potentials (MLAEP) and flash visual evoked potentials (FVEP), the functional cortex in the auditory cortex and the visual cortex were compared with the seizure focus point on the EEG to help determine the location of the ablation and minimize functional impairment after surgery.

  • It is common to optimize the propulsion control system through a so-called tuning process that modifies the parameter values of the propulsion control software during a ship commissioning. However, during this process, if the error of the initial setting value is large, the tuning time may take too long, or the propulsion equipment can be seriously damaged. Therefore, we conducted research on the design of a propulsion controller that applied a Processor lever controller even for inexperienced people with relatively little experience in tuning propulsion control software to be able to reduce the tuning time while protecting the propulsion system. Through simulation, by comparing the execution result of propulsion control lever commands through the PI controller without applying the Processor lever controller. We analyzed the improvement of the Overshoot and propulsion performance. The simulation results showed that the safety of the propulsion system increased because Overshoot of approximately 9.74%, which occurred when the Processor lever function was not applied.
