  • An application that has a simple user interface not only motivates a user to continue using the application, but also enables the user to develop their mental model for the application - the like of which is a product of their interaction with the application. In the information systems literature, little empirical research has been undertaken on the effects of the mental model and motivation on smartphone users' behavioral beliefs. Therefore, the aim of this study is to suggest a research model that can examine the following: 1) the effects that the mental model has not only on smartphone users' behavioral beliefs (that is, perceived usefulness and ease of use of an application) but also on their behavioral intention to use an application and 2) the effects that smartphone users' intrinsic motivation has on their behavioral beliefs through an expansion of the mental model. A survey is conducted, and structural equation modeling is then used to analyze the survey data. The results, through consideration of variables such as intrinsic motivation, perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and user satisfaction, indicate that the mental model has an indirect effect on a user's intention to use an application.

  • With the advent of the 5G era, smart phones and communications network technology have progressed, and mobile short video of people's life can be made, Of the new tools of communication, at present, China's social short video industry has shown rapid development, and the most representative of the short video app is Douyin (international version: Tiktok). Under the background of Uses and Gratifications Theory, this study discusse the relationship between Douyin users' preference degree, use motivation, use satisfaction and attention intention. This study divides the content of Douyin video into 10 categories, selects the form of an online questionnaire survey, uses SPSS software to conduct quantitative analysis of 202 questionnaires after screening, and finally draws the following conclusions: (1) The content preference degree of Douyin short video (the high group and low group) is different in users' use motivation, users' satisfaction degree and users' attention intention. ALL results are within the range of statistical significance.(2) Douyin users' video content preference degree has a positive impact on users' use motivation, users' satisfaction degree, and users' attention intention. (3) Douyin users' motivation has a positive impact on users' satisfaction and user' attention intention. (4) Douyin users' satisfaction degree has a positive impact on users' attention intention. Based on the research results, we suggest that Douyin platform pushes videos according to users' preferences. In addition, as the preference degree has an impact on users' motivation, satisfaction degree and attention intention of using the platform, it is important that the platform's focus should to pay attention to the preference degree of users. Collecting users' preferences at the early stage of users' entering the platform is a good way to learn from, and doing a good job of big data collection and management in the later operation.

  • Contemporary consumers' acceptance of second-hand products has been increasingly improving worldwide, especially in China. Based on the Extended Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology, we developed and empirically validated a research framework to predict consumers' motivation to use re-commerce platforms. We explored the diverse factors influencing mobile commerce usage through re-commerce platforms. Furthermore, this study investigated the role of gender differences as a factor moderating the association between several constructs and the intention to use re-commerce platforms. A total of 226 consumer responses were collected. The results indicated that hedonic motivation, performance expectancy, consumer habits, social influence, and price value affect consumers' attitudes toward re-commerce platforms. The effects of the attitude toward re-commerce platforms on the intention to use these platforms were also statistically significant. When effort expectancy, hedonic motivation, and consumer habits in re-commerce platform usage increase, male consumers' attitude toward its usage, in particular, also increases. Meanwhile, when performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, and consumer habits in re-commerce platform usage increase, the attitude toward its usage increases among female consumers. Moreover, our results indicate that the two gender groups present different characteristics regarding re-commerce platform usage. Therefore, this study offers a theoretical basis for future analyses of second-hand trade.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of use motivation type for mobile phones and the degree of loss perception related to mobile phone consumption consciousness in adolescents. The subjects of this study were 503 students in middle and high school in Daegu. A questionnaire was used for the survey. Factor analysis, cluster analysis, and MANOVA were employed for the data analysis and the $Scheff\acute{e}$ test was used for post-hoc analysis. The results are as follows: First, there are significant differences in mobile phone consumption consciousness in all sub-dimension areas according to use motivation type for mobile phone. Second, adolescents with high economic loss perception for mobile phones show high consumption consciousness in sub-dimension area, and adolescents with high academic loss perception show high relation-oriented consumption consciousness. Adolescents with high physical loss perception show high health-oriented, relation-oriented, and function-oriented consumption consciousness. Adolescents with high psychological loss perception, on the other hand, show high relation-oriented consumption consciousness. Third, there are significant differences in mobile phone consumption consciousness according to use motivation type for mobile phones and the degree of overall loss perception. However, there are no significant differences in the mobile phone consumption consciousness according to use motivation type for mobile phones and the degree of overall loss perception.

  • Today, it is not difficult to use information technology (IT), especially, Internet based ones. Many people can not only access IT without learning how to use it but also find and develop new techniques and usages which couldn't be expected by system engineers or designers. This is owing to social interactions among users as well as advancement of IT. Theoretically, such social interactions in using IT can be well explained by adaptive structuration theory (AST) which has been considered as one of trying to capture the change of using IT due to social interactions between users and system. This study is to analyze the relationship between social interactions and motivation in using IT which can determine attitude and intention of using IT. For this purpose we provide a research model, in which two AST related variables, faithfulness of appropriation and consensus on appropriation, are independent variables and three beliefs for using IT, usefulness, ease of use and playfulness, are dependent ones. Additionally, for reflection of changing uses, usefulness is formed as second order factor by two first order factors-usefulness of self-expression and communication. An empirical test of our model for blog users which is analyzed by Partial Least Square method shows supporting most of hypotheses except one, consensus-ease of use.

  • Purpose In recent years, mobile payment service users have been rapidly increasing. Previous researchers focused on the mobile usage situation such as the elements of mobile payment service, usage pattern, and user behaviors, and the research that is approached from the viewpoint of the user is still insufficient. The aim of this study is to suggest a acceptance-resistance motivation model of choosing a mobile payment service based on the Herzbergs Two-Factor Theory by investigating users' motivation and hygiene factors. Design/methodology/approach For the purpose, literature reviews on factors of choosing a mobile payment service were conducted and classified motivation and hygiene factors. Two hypotheses were set as follows: Hypothesis I is that motivation factors have a positive impact on the choice of mobile payment service, and Hypothesis II is that hygiene factors have a negative impact on the choice of mobile payment service. To test two hypotheses, this study conducted an online questionnaire survey and a multivariate discriminant analysis. Findings The result found that mobile payment service is more likely to be replaced with mobile by improving convenience, simplicity, and ease of use that affect the acceptance motivation of mobile payment service. This result supported the Hypothesis I but not Hypothesis II and contributed to provide implications for future mobile payment service development and marketing utilization.

  • The current research proposes to fill a research gap by testing how reward uncertainty, different types of motivation, as well as individual risk-taking attitude affect consumers' promotion participation. Being offered with an uncertain reward, relative to individuals with extrinsic motivation, individuals with intrinsic motivation will have greater intention to participate in marketing promotion. In contrast, being offered with a certain reward, relative to individuals with intrinsic motivation, individuals with extrinsic motivation will have greater intention to participate in marketing promotion. This effect arises only among consumers having a low level of risk-taking attitude. For consumers having a high level of risk-taking attitude, their participation intention shows no significant difference between the two motivation type groups, under both certain and uncertain reward conditions. With an understanding of how consumer's response heterogeneously to promotions involving rewards, marketers can better understand not only how to use this promotional tactic more effectively, but also how to better allocate their budget for promotions.
