학교 학습환경 변화에 따른 학생적응에 관한 연구 - 신축 교과교실제 중학교로의 이전경험을 중심으로 - (A Study on Students' Adaptation to Changes in Their Learning Environments at School - Focused on Students' Experience of Transition to the New Variation Type Middle School -)

  • Since the introduction of the new Variation Type school, few studies have focused on students' adaptation to the changes in their learning environments at school. This paper is based on the Stage-Environment Fit theory, which asserts that a successful school life(in terms of motivation to learn) is ensured only when the school environment meets the social and emotional needs of students. Focusing on the third-grade student's adaptation to a new Variation Type school during their middle school period, the following conclusions were drawn. First, the transition to a new Variation Type school during middle school is much more difficult than adjusting to a new Variatio Type school upon admission to middle school. Second, this difficulty in adaptation is caused by socio-emotional dissatisfaction in adolescent students, for whom deconstruction of previous friendships can hinder motivation to learn. Third, third-grade students who experienced stress due to spatial changes tended to have a negative attitude towards the new Variation Type itself as they feel more tired from failing to use the space properly. Fourth, to transition successfully to a new Variation Type school, socio-emotional problems must be solved through the reduction of scale of the homebase, and the provision of various choices increasing the number of homebase.

사이버대학생의 학습참여동기와 삶에 대한 만족도가 전공만족도에 미치는 영향 (The effect of educational participatory motivation and life satisfaction on major satisfaction among Cyber University students)

  • 본 연구는 서울소재 사이버대학교에 재학 중인 성인학습자들을 대상으로 학습참여동기 유형과 삶에 대한 만족도가 전공만족도에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지를 파악하여 사이버대 재학생의 학과 만족도를 높이기 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 수행되었다. 연구 대상자는 서울 소재 한 사이버대학에 재학 중인 20세 이상 성인학습자로 온라인 설문에 응답한 총 937명의 자료를 수집 분석하였다. 주요한 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 사이버대 재학생의 학습참여동기 유형은 목적지향동기, 학습지향동기, 활동지향동기 순으로 높게 나타났다. 둘째, 학습참여동기, 삶에 대한 만족도, 전공만족도에서 인구통계학적 특성에 따른 차이가 있는지를 검증해본 결과 학년을 제외한 성별, 연령, 직업유무, 결혼유무, 전공에 따른 집단 간 차이가 확인되었다. 셋째, 회귀분석 결과 삶에 대한 만족도, 목적지향동기, 학습지향동기, 활동지향동기 순서로 전공만족도에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 이러한 연구결과는 전공만족도를 높이기 위해서 성인학습자의 학습참여동기에 대한 이해가 요구되며, 성인학습자가 경험하고 있는 삶의 만족도를 향상시키기 위한 연구 및 지원 방안이 필요함을 시사한다.

  • A skill is defined as the special ability to do something well, especially as acquired by learning and practice. To learn a skill, a Bayesian network model for representing the skill is first learned. We will regard the Bayesian network for a skill as an affordance. We propose a soft Behavior Motivation(BM) switch as a method for ordering affordances to accomplish a task. Then, a skill is constructed as a combination of an affordance and a soft BM switch. To demonstrate the validity of our proposed method, some experiments were performed with GENIBO(Pet robot) performing a task using skills of Search-a-target-object, Approach-a-target-object, Push-up-in front of -a-target-object.

The Influence of Individual Characteristics, Training Content and Manager Support on On-the-Job Training Effectiveness

  • The study examines the influence of individual characteristics, training content, and manager support on the effectiveness of on-the-job (OJT) training in the banking and finance industry. A simple random sampling technique was used to select the samples. Questionnaires were distributed to respondents in order to obtain the data. Using cross-sectional data obtained from 396 respondents in Bank A in Malaysia, the multiple regression results show that self-efficacy, motivation to learn, training content, and manager support have positive influence on OJT training effectiveness. Among all these factors, manager support is very highly correlated with OJT training effectiveness. The findings have given fruitful insight of the crucial roles of OJT training in the respective bank, particularly to bring forward the roles of systematic design and implementation of OJT training. This study is not only expanding knowledge in OJT and training, but offers managers practical insights in developing good OJT training program by considering employees need, capabilities, skills and job requirement. Furthermore, this study also provides a valuable framework in identifying the effectiveness of OJT training program for certain jobs. Further discussion of the research findings and its implications to theoretical knowledge of training and managers are promised at the end of the article.

ASI 프로그램이 과학영재 학생들의 과학 창의적 문제해결력과 과학 학습 동기에 미치는 효과 (The Effect of the ASI Program on the Scientific Creative Problem Solving Skill and Science Learning Motivation of Science Gifted Students)

  • This study investigates the effect of ASI program on the improvement of gifted students' scientific creative problem solving skill and science learning motivation. ASI developed by reflecting the characteristics of scientific inquiry. The study was aimed at Twenty elementary gifted students from C Gifted Education Program participated in the sixteen sessions of ASI curriculum from June 2010 to October 2010. First, we found that the ASP program is effective to improve the gifted students' scientific creative problem solving skill overall. Specifically, the ASI was effective in the sub-catagories of scientific creative problem solving skills such as 'fluency', 'flexibility', 'originality', and 'appropriateness'. However, there was no significant change in the sub-category of 'reliability' and 'elaborateness' Second, we found that the ASP program is effective to improve the gifted students' sscience learning motivation overall. Specifically, the ASI was effective in the sub-catagories of science problem solving skills such as 'intrinsic motivation', 'correlation with personal goal', 'self-determination', and 'fear of evaluation'. However, there was no significant change in the sub-category of 'extrinsic motivation' and 'self-efficacy'. summary, the ASI program was shown to be effective for improving their scientific creative problem solving skill and scientific learning motivation; This study implies that the ASI curriculum would be a effective tool to help gifted students to improve their ascientific creative problem solving skill and their motivation to learn science.

초등 예비교사의 과학학습 동기 유형에 따른 과학 배움 과정 탐색 (An Exploration on Pre-Service Elementary School Teachers' Science-Learning Processes according to Their Motivation Types)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 초등 예비교사를 대상으로 과학학습 동기 유형과 그 유형별 과학 배움 과정을 근거이론에 따라 탐색하는 데 있다. 본 연구에서는 초등 예비교사 132명을 대상으로 과학학습 동기 유형분석하고 그중 12명을 대상으로 근거이론 방법을 적용한 과학 배움 과정을 살펴보았다. 초등 예비교사들의 과학학습 동기 유형을 분석한 결과, 철두철미형이 가장 많았으며 그다음으로는 지도자형, 탐구자형, 조정자형 순으로 나타났다. 과학 배움 과정에서 나타난 여러 가지 현상들을 코딩한 결과, 근거이론 패러다임 모형 요소에 따라 30개의 범주를 추출할 수 있었다. 추출한 범주를 토대로 근거이론 패러다임 모형에 따라 각 과학학습 동기 유형별 과학 배움의 과정 흐름을 분석할 수 있었다. 대표적으로 철두철미형은 가르치는 방법과 과학 지식을 습득하기 위하여 과학 강의를 듣거나 과학 도서를 읽고 있으며, 이는 초등교사로서의 의무감으로서 당연히 해야 할 것으로 생각하였다. 임용 시험이나 교육 과정적 환경 요인들에 의해 순수한 의미에서 과학을 배우는 과정을 경험하고 있지는 않으나 개인적 노력과 참여로 과학에 대한 새로운 관점을 가지게 된 것으로 나타났다.

미용 산업체 종사자의 성취동기 관련 요인에 관한 질적 연구 (A Qualitative Study on Factors related to Achievement Motivation of Beauty Industry Professionals)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the achievement motivation of beauty industry professionals. The research method involved one-on-one, in-depth interviews with 7 hair professionals, 7 make-up professionals and 7 skincare professionals. The in-depth interviews were recorded in their entirety, and the recorded content was transcribed and organized. Analysis of the transcribed data involved encoding, deconstructing and re-composing the interview content. Research results revealed 5 factors that were extracted to explain the achievement motivation of beauty industry professionals. Four of the 5 factors were similar to the results of precedent studies, but the remaining factor presented unique characteristics. The 4 common factors were "motive to pursue success", "motive to avoid failure", "motive to meet challenges" and "goal-oriented motive". The factor discovered in this study was "relationship-oriented motive", which is characterized by the tendency to place importance in relationships with superiors, colleagues and customers based on the working characteristics of beauty industry professionals. Based on the results of this study, beauty industry professionals can learn about goals that must be met in various stages in order to establish a system for accomplishing those goals, implement an emotional education program for mental balance, introduce a competitive team system, and carry out a relationship improvement program to increase work efficiency.

장소에 따른 방문자의 방문 동기 유형 및 평가 결정요인 분석 (A Study on the Relations with Motivation of Visiting and Evaluation by Location Type)

  • 본 연구는 동기와 방문의 관련성을 해안형과 도심형으로 장소 유형을 분류하여 부산지역 특정 장소를 방문하는 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 그들 사이의 관계를 조사하고자 하는 것이다. 방문객들은 방문지를 선택하는 데 있어 다양한 목적과 동기를 가지고 참여하게 되며 일반적으로, 방문 동기는 방문객들의 방문 행동을 이해하거나 방문지 선택과정에 중요한 개념으로 받아들여지고 있다. 방문객들이 왜 특정 장소를 선택하여 방문하는지를 이해하는 것은 방문 대상지의 정책 수립이나 마케팅에도 강력한 도구 역할을 하기 때문에 연구의 필요성이 제기된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 직접 설문을 통하여 이러한 동기와 방문의 관련성을 부산지역 특정 장소를 방문하는 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 그들 사이의 관계를 조사하였다. 장소의 방문 동기별 방문의 관련성을 방문객을 대상으로 조사하여 관계를 직접적으로 조사 분석함으로써, 만족도 수준에 영향을 줄 수 있는 특정한 속성 및 서비스의 집중과 대상지의 마케팅 계획수립의 방향을 제시하는 의미 있는 근거를 Ordinal Logit Model을 이용하여 제시하는데 그 목적이 있다.

한국대학생들의 특수 목적 관련 교양영어수업에 관한 연구 (The Study on the Effects of English for Specific Purposes for Korean University Students)

  • 본 연구는 한국의 경영 대학 학생들을 대상으로 특수 목적 관련 집중 교양영어 수업을 실시하여 나타난 결과이다. 이 연구는 학생들이 앞으로 학습할 전공 관련 과목들의 영어 습득 능력을 향상시키기 위한 방법으로 특수 목적 관련 집중 교양영어 수업 계획을 진행시켰다. 학생들의 영어 실력 향상도와 학업 성취도를 알아 보기위해 실험 전인 학기 초에 미리 테스트를 실시했고 실험이 끝난 학기 말에 역시 테스트를 실시하여 결과를 비교해보았다. 실험 학기 동안 학생들은 영어 기초 지식 관련 일반 교양영어 수업이 아닌 경영학 전공과 관련된 교재, 학습 활동, 과제 등을 통한 수업을 진행하였다. 연구 결과 특히 성적이 낮은 학생들의 학업 성취 향상도가 두드러졌다. 이는 학생들의 교양 영어 학습목적이 전공 관련 특수 목적 영어 학습이라는 이유 때문에 학생들의 학습동기가 높았다는 것이 주된 이유로 나타났다.

Roles of Autonomous Motivation, Individualism, and Instructor Support in Student-Centered Learning in South Korea and the United States

  • It is commonly understood that students' autonomous motivation and individualistic orientations and instructors' autonomy support are important for student-centered learning (SCL). However, few studies have examined this assumption. To help researchers and practitioners design more engaging SCL experiences across diverse cultural contexts, this study examines the associations of these factors with SCL engagement and how these associations compare in different cultures. University students in South Korea and the United States participated in a bold SCL assignment, called Pink Time, in which students decide what and how they learn. Linear, multivariate models were estimated in each context to identify and compare relationships between SCL engagement and student characteristics and perceptions. We found that engagement was high in both contexts. Autonomous motivation, individualism, and perceived instructor support each had significant associations with SCL engagement in South Korea. In the US, which had a smaller sample size, only perceived instructor support was significantly associated. These findings suggest that SCL strategies can be effective across cultures. Also, the narrower classroom context, specifically instructors' support, may be a stronger driver of engagement than the broader societal context. This study contributes to the scholarly discussion regarding SCL in diverse settings and offers several implications for instructors.
