Drones can be manipulated in a variety of ways. One of the most common controller is joystick method. But joystick controller uses both hands and takes a long time to learn. Particularly, in the case of 8-character flight, it is necessary to use both front and rear flight (pitch), left and right flight (Roll), and body rotation (Yaw). Joystick controller has limitations to intuitively control it. In particular, when the main body rotates, the viewpoint of the forward direction is changed between the drones and the user, thereby causing a mental rotation problem in which the user must control the rotating state of the drones. Therefore, we developed a motion matching controller that matches the motion of the drones and the controller. That is, the movement of the drone and the movement of the controller are the same. In this study, we used a gyro sensor and an acceleration sensor to map the controller's forward / backward, left / right and body rotation movements to drone's forward / backward, left / right, and rotational flight motion. The motor output is controlled by the throttle dial at the center of the controller. As the motions coincide with each other, it is expected that the first drone operator will be able to control more intuitively than the joystick manipulator with less learning.
For the vibration control of earthquake-excited buildings, an optimal design method of integrated control system considering soil-structure interaction is studied in this paper. Interaction between soils and the base of the building is simply modeled as lumped parameters and equations of motion are derived. The equations of motion are transformed into the state space equations and the probabilistic excitations such as Kanai-Tajumi power spectral density function is introduced. Then an optimization problem is formulated as finding hybrid or integrated control systems which minimizes the stochastic responses of the building structure for given constraints. In order to investigate the feasibility of the optimization method, an example design and numerical simulations are performed with tenstory building. Finally, numerical results are compared with a conventional design case that soil-structure interaction is not considered.

In ship operation the consequency of roll motions can seriously degrade the performance of mechanical and personnel effectiveness. So many studies for the roll stabilization control system design have been performed and very good results have been achieved. In many studies, the stabilizing fins are used. Recently rudders, which have been extensively modified, have been used to exclusively to stabilize the roll. This paper examines the two-degree-of-freedom servosystem design technique to synthesize the yaw control system which achieves the course keeping object of the ship and the H$_{\infty}$ control approach to suppress the roll motion, respectively.

This paper addresses the application of an active magnetic bearing (AMB) system to levitate the elevation axis of an electro-optical sight mounted on a moving vehicle. In this type of system, it is desirable to retain the elevation axis in an air-gap between magnetic bearing stators while the vehicle is moving. To eliminate disturbance responses, a disturbance observer based sliding mode control is developed. This control can decouple disturbance observation dynamics from sliding mode dynamics and preserves the robustness of the sliding control. The sliding surfaces are designed in the consideration of scattering of received image. The proposed control is applied to a 2-DOF active magnetic bearing system subject to base motion. Along with experimental results, the feasibility of the proposed technique is illustrated.
In this paper a control system with a high performance dynamic response for linear induction motors (LIMs) is proposed which takes into account the end-effect in both the machine model and the control system. Primary flux oriented control has two major drawbacks i.e. a lack of decoupling of the thrust and the flux and a possibility of system instability due to the end-effect. Both of these drawbacks have been dealt with in this paper. A flux estimation method is proposed to correct the flux orientation error caused by the end effect. Extensive motor performance evaluations under the proposed control system prove its superiority over conventional vector control.

Safety systems for road vehicles have been rapidly developed in recent years. Especially, the VDC(Vehicle dynamics Control) system is a new active safety system for road vehicles which controls its dynamic vehicle motion in emergency situations . In the case of configuring the VDC system by utilizing the ABS(Anti-lock Brake System), the role of a control logic which directly influences the vehicle motion is very important. In this study the performance of the VDC vehicle was compared to the performances of the CBS (Conventional Brake system )and ABS vehicle. For various driving conditions , the simulation of vehicle dynamics with known VDC control logics was performed. Analysis results showed the VDC vehicle could stably perform even on the road of low coefficient of friction. In addition it was shown that the basic control logic for the VDC system could outstandingly improve driving stability in the case of braking as well as constant speed cruising.
This paper describes the development of a 3-DOF laparoscopic assistant robot system with motor-controlled bending and zooming mechanisms using the voice command motion control and auto-tracking control. The system is designed with two major criteria: safety and adaptability. To satisfy the safety criteria we designed the robot with optimized range of motion. For adaptability, the robot is designed with compact size to minimize interference with the staffs in the operating room. The required external motions were replaced by the bending mechanism within the abdomen using flexible laparoscope. The zooming of the robot is achieved through in and out motion at the port where the laparoscope is inserted. The robot is attachable to the bedside using a conventional laparoscope holder with multiple DOF joints and is compact enough for hand-carry. The voice-controlled command input and auto-tracking control is expected to enhance the overall performance of the system while reducing the control load imposed on the surgeon during a laparoscopic surgery. The proposed system is expected to have sufficient safety features and an easy-to-use interface to enhance the overall performance of current laparoscopy.

This paper presents a method to achieve a synchronous positioning objective for a dual-cylinder electro-hydraulic system with friction characteristics. The control system consists of a VSC (Variable Structure Controller) for each of the hydraulic cylinders and a PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) feedback controller. The PID controller is used for controlling the non-synchronous error generated by both cylinders when motion synchronization is carried out. To enhance the position-tracking performance of the individual cylinders friction characteristics is modeled in model, based on the estimated friction force. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed method can effectively achieve the objective of position synchronization in the dualcylinder electro-hydraulic system, with maximum synchronization error with ${\pm}2\;mm$.

This paper proposes a robot control human interface using Markov model (HMM) based hand signal recognizer. The command receiving humanoid robot sends webcam images to a client computer. The client computer then extracts the intended commanding hum n's hand motion descriptors. Upon the feature acquisition, the hand signal recognizer carries out the recognition procedure. The recognition result is then sent back to the robot for responsive actions. The system performance is evaluated by measuring the recognition of '48 hand signal set' which is created randomly using fundamental hand motion set. For isolated motion recognition, '48 hand signal set' shows 97.07% recognition rate while the 'baseline hand signal set' shows 92.4%. This result validates the proposed hand signal recognizer is indeed highly discernable. For the '48 hand signal set' connected motions, it shows 97.37% recognition rate. The relevant experiments demonstrate that the proposed system is promising for real world human-robot interface application.

The general purposed control system for driving a motion of many different typed robot end-effector, which consists of a controller based on ARM Cotex M3-11017 MCU and an application software for generating a motion of end-effector, was developed. Experimental results show that a positioning error is nearly negligible and a repeatability error is 0.04%. Accordingly the developed control system can be applied practically to actuate a robot end-effector for inspection and maintenance of steam generator heat pipe in nuclear power plant.
