This research was to examine the mother's responsiveness to infant cue in order to improve interaction between mother and infant. The subjects were 144 mothers who gave birth to at general hospital or a public health center in Kangnung. The gestational age of infants was more than 38weeks and birth weight was more than 2500g. A questionnaire was developed by applying the content about infant cue in Barnard's NCAST program. This questionnaire was revised through the examination of expertis in this field. The questions were classified into 3 categories : 10 questions about engagement cue, 11 questions about disengagement cue, and 9 questions about general cue and reflex behavior. Each item measured the mother's responsiveness to infant cue using 5 scales : 2 positive responsiveness, 1 negative responsiveness, and 1 meaningless, 1 for in case which mother can't recognize the meaning of reaction. The result presented that mothers showed positive reaction to engagement cue. However, most mothers still didn't recognize that their infants can lead a mother-infant interaction and show active response in interaction. Mothers tended to treat them as Just passive objects. In disengagement cue, mothers tended not to give proper responsiveness to their infants when the infants desired feeding or not and they did not desire mother -infant interaction. In general cue and reflex behavior, the mother's reaction was positive and they took it granted as a infant's behavior. When each item was analyzed by the general characteristics of the subject, there was significant differences according to the mottler's age, birth weight, average house income, birth order, feeding type, nature of infant, and infant's age.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore recognition of mother-child interaction by preschoolers' mothers. Methods: Data were collected through in-depth interviews with mothers of 12 preschoolers. The data were analyzed following Downe-Wamboldt's content analysis methodology. Results: From the data, 170 significant statements were selected and were classified into 7 categories and three domains (maternal, child, dyadic). First, the maternal domain consisted of maternal sensitivity, acceptable responsiveness, and child developmental encouragement. Second, the child domain consisted of child's sensitivity, responsiveness, and initiative. Third, the dyadic domain consisted of mutuality. Conclusion: These results suggest that preschoolers' mothers recognize the significant qualitative aspects of interaction with their children. Based on these results, instruments for preschooler-mother interaction need to be developed.
This research has been surveyed on street food and snack intake status of elementary school students in the Jeon Buk region and the recognition of mothers has been observed for the objective of providing base materials for appropriate eating habits and nutritional education. As for status on intake of street food, most students (97.3%) have shown to have eaten from the street vendors while mothers assume low frequency in their child's intake of street food. Favorite street food choices had an agreement between mother and student as ddukbokki and dakkochi. Students were more tolerant in sanitation and necessity of street food than the mothers. This research shows that there is a difference in the recognition of street food between the students and their mothers. There a need required for improvement in the system as to provide quality food and to prevent poor quality food being exposed to the students. Furthermore, practical and appropriate education must be conducted at home and at school for better choices of food and a better lifestyle. (Korean J Community Nutrition 14(4) : 406${\sim}$419, 2009)
The purpose of this study was to recognize the effects of parenting behaviors as perceived by female high school students on their loneliness and perceived competence. The subjects of this research consisted of 301 female high school students. The data collected were analyzed by multi-regression analysis. The father and mother's behaviors, defined as inconsistency, intrusiveness, physical abuse and neglect, all- resulted in increased levels of loneliness amongst the subjects, and also negatively influenced their perceived competence. However, the parent's monitoring, reasoning and affection behaviors tended to reduced loneliness and perceived lack of competence. The father and mother's affection, when recognized as such by female adolescents, revealed itself to be a positive influence on their various areas of perceived competence. In conclusion, parenting behaviors may affect loneliness and perceived competence on the part of female adolescents during the ego-identity formation stage.

This study was conducted to investigate the dietary habits and practices of mothers and their children from 3 to 6 years of age as well as the mother's attitudes about nutrition education. This study focused mainly on two areas: 1) the dietary habits and actual dietary practices of mothers and their children and 2) a mother's perception and need for nutrition education. The results of the regression analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between the dietary habits of mothers and their children's (p<0.05). There was statistical significance in total food frequency intake and the food frequency intake between the mothers and children (r=0.829, p<0.01). The results of the regression analysis showed that the mother's dietary attitude (meal regularity, meal tempo) could positively influence their children's dietary attitude (p<0.01). The mothers showed a high interest in nutrition education; 81.6% of mothers tried to apply nutrition information to their actual dietary life, 77.6% of them recognized the need of nutrition education on preschoolers' dietary life and health, and 75.2% of them wanted to participate in nutrition education program(s) for their children. The percent of mothers that wanted to be offered lectures, food practices and hand-outs were 36.9%, 18.4%, 15.5%, respectively. The combined results of this study showed that mothers sincerely recognize the need for nutrition education and they have a high and deep interest in nutrition education.
We carried out this study for recognizing the staue of child inpatient nursing and providing child inpatient with better qualified nursing. We study this research from March 29, 93 to April 23, 93 to April 23, '93. First admission day in hospital, we ask 50 mothers of hospitalized child inpatient about the value of nursing and self-consciousness of mothers, also ask 10 nurse in charge about the satisfaction of tending child inpatient Two times-third admission day in hospital and leaving day, we inquired mothers the value of nursing of mothers by inquiry papers, each measurement was made up of five indexes. The result of research was as follow: 1. The subjects of research had following peculiarities. Average age : 2.5 years 0~ 1 years : 32.0% Baby girl : 56.0% first baby : 58.0% Experienced inpatient : 52.0% The number of hospitalization times was 1~2 times : 61. 5% The average period of hospitalization : 7 days Infected inpatient with respiratory organ disease : 40.0% The mother's average age of child inpatient : 30.5 years Mother's who finished high school : 90.9% Family that income about 600,000-700,000 won : 32.0% Mothers who belived an religion : 50.0% 2. As hospitalization time goes by, mothers gradually failed to recognize the value of nursing. 3. Self-estimated tending satisfactions have no connection with the value of nursing that mothers recognized. 4. The value of nursing was effected by mothers own personnality-salf-consciousness care, experience of hospitalization, academic background & religoin. So, we find out that the value of nursing had no connection with satisfaction of tending. Nurses must make every effort to provide child inpatient with nursing of good quality, that mothers confirm and nurses satisfy themselves. Also, we have to emphasize the importance of home and school education, because these education have a great influence upon mother s self-consciousness.
Many parents recognize the importance of social development during early childhood but they feel difficulty in helping their children develop socially. Recently, many researchers have suggested that maternal cognition is an important factor on their parenting behavior and children's development. Thus, this study attempted to investigate the mother's perception and attribution of parenting efficacy for children's social development. Total 247 mothers of three to five year-old children reported self-questionnaire consisting of Melson, Ladd, & Hsu(l993)'s Perceived Difficulty at Parenting Tasks, Criniic & Greenberg(1990)'s Parenting Daily Hassles and Abdin(1990)'s Parenting Alliance Inventory. Also, 82 of the subject's children were individually tested with McGinnis & Goldstein(1990)'s Skill Situations Measure. The major results were as follows: 1) Mothers' parenting efficacy for children's social development was significantly related with child's age, mother's education and the father's cooperation of parenting. 2) Mothers' perceived parenting efficacy was significantly correlated with some dimension of the child's actual social skill (i.e., maintenance of peer relation). 3) Mothers of young children were more likely to attribute to their children for their parenting efficacy than those of old children. 4) Mothers were more likely attribute to their children than themselves when they perceive parenting difficult. 5) Mothers who perceive parenting easy and attributed it to their children had less parenting stress than those of attributing it to themselves.

The objectives of the present study were to assess the early nutrition-related knowledge, eating behaviors of preschool children, the types of messages that their mothers give to them about nutrition and to analysis the interrelationships among these variables. The children of this study showed the uncooperative eating behaviors most frequently when they had breakfast and vegetables. In these cases the most frequent mother's messages given to the children was encourage eating some of each food. Children's eating problems as perceived by mothers were mainly low dietary intake and an unbalanced diet. The most frequent messages given to the children in the presentation of new foods were telling the child taste them and general nutrition about the new food. General topics in nutrition the mothers had discussed with their children were about nutrients, food groups, food transformations and food origins. Children whom mothers provided more information about these topics scored significantly higher on the concepts of food transformation, food origins and the total nutrition knowledge score. It is clear from this study that preschool children begin to learn about nutrition through these parental messages. Both parents and caretakers of young children should recognize the potential importance of these early interaction patterns.
