각종 개발사업은 불투수층의 증가를 야기 시켜 자연적 물 순환 왜곡과 함께 비점오염물질의 유출을 증가시킨다. 개발로 인한 환경생태수리학적 영향을 저감하고 건전한 물 순환을 구축하기 위해서는 오염물질의 함량이 적은 유출유량에 대해서는 이용(use)을 고려해 볼 만하며, 오염물질의 함량이 높은 유량에 대해서는 조경공간에서 처리 후 저류, 침투 또는 증발산을 고려하여야 한다. 본 연구는 지붕빗물유출수의 상대적 오염도를 평가하여 이용가능성을 검토하고, 평균 EMC 산정을 위한 비용 효율적 적정 모니터링 기법을 제안하고자 수행되었다. 지붕유출수의 오염도는 도로와 주차장에 비해 오염물질별 3배에서 13배 정도 낮은 것으로 조사되었으며, 나뭇잎, 담배꽁초 등의 협잡물과 바람의 영향으로 인한 오염물질의 대기침적 및 옥상구조물 등이 주요 오염원인 것으로 나타났다. 비용 효율적 모니터링 기법 연구결과 평균 EMC를 보이는 시료는 유출 발생 후 약 15분 경인 것으로 나타났으며, 최소 8회 이상의 강우사상에 대한 모니터링이 수행되어야 평균 EMC를 산정할 수 있는 것으로 나타났다.
신뢰성 있는 수문자료의 획득은 효율적인 물 관리를 위한 가장 기본적인 조건인 동시에 가장 필수적인 조건이다. 특히 최근 이상기후의 영향으로 빈번하게 발생하고 있는 도시홍수에 대응하기 위한 경보체계 등을 구축하는데 있어 사용자가 관측하고자 하는 임의 지점에서 유황자료의 획득은 매우 중요하다. 지속적인 하천정비 사업을 통해 외수범람에 의한 홍수 발생빈도는 점차 낮아지고 있지만, 하수관거의 노후화, 관리 소홀 등의 원인으로 내수배제가 원활하지 못해서 발생하는 내수침수로 인한 도시홍수는 지속적으로 발생하고 있다. 이러한 도시홍수 저감을 위해서는 도시배수시스템에 대한 지속적인 관리와 현황파악이 필수적이다. 본 연구에서는 CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) 무선통신기술과 Bluetooth 근거리 무선통신기술을 사용하여 전문적인 지식이 없는 사용자라도 누구나 언제, 어디서든 도시배수시스템의 임의의 지점에서 유황을 파악하고, 배수관망에서는 유황 관측과 동시에 유출 경로 추적이 가능한 도시배수관망 유속측정 시스템의 개발을 목표로 하였다. 도시배수관망 유속측정 시스템은 세 단계로 구성되어 운영된다. 첫 번째 단계에서 ubiquitous floater를 사용하여 획득한 유황 정보를 서버로 전송하면, 두 번째 단계에서 서버 컴퓨터를 통해 도시 배수시스템의 현황을 판단하고, 마지막 단계에서 정보를 GUI(Graphic User Interface)를 통해 사용자에게 제공하게 된다. 개발된 도시배수관망 유속측정 시스템을 경기도 수원의 원천천에 위치한 배수관망에 적용하여 현장 실험한 결과, 도시 배수관리를 위해 필요한 정보들을 실시간으로 획득하고 관리할 수 있었다.
To control non-point source pollution at a watershed scale, rainfall-runoff characteristics from forest watersheds should be investigated since the forest is the dominant land use in Korea. Long-term monitoring would be an ideal method. However, computer models have been utilized due to limitations in cost and labor in performing long-term monitoring at the watersheds. In this study, the Geo-spatial interface to the Water Erosion Prediction Project (GeoWEPP) model was evaluated for its runoff prediction from a coniferous forest dominant watersheds. The $R^2$ and the NSE for calibrated result comparisons were 0.77 and 0.63, validated result comparisons were 0.92, 0.89, respectively. These comparisons indicated that the GeoWEPP model can be used in evaluating rainfall-runoff characteristics. To estimate runoff changes from a coniferous forest watershed with various cover degree scenarios, ten cover degree scenarios (10%, 20%, 30%, 40%, 50%, 60%, 70%, 80%, 90%, 100%) were run using the calibrated GeoWEPP model. It was found that runoff increases with decrease in cover degree. Runoff volume was the highest ($206,218.66m^3$) at 10% cover degree, whereas the lowest ($134,074.58m^3$) at 100% cover degree due to changes in evapotranspiration under various cover degrees at the forest. As shown in this study, GeoWEPP model could be efficiently used to investigate runoff characteristics from the coniferous forest watershed and effects of various cover degree scenarios on runoff generation.
본 연구는 도시지역의 토지이용별 비점오염물질의 유출특성을 파악하고 적정 모니터링 횟수를 도출하고자 연구를 수행하였다. 연구 조사지점은 도시지역 중 주거지역(13지점), 상업지역(8지점), 교통지역(9지점), 공업지역(11지점)으로 선정하였으며 지점에 따라 2008년부터 2016년까지 모니터링이 수행되었으며 총 632회의 강우사상에 대한 모니터링 결과를 분석하였다. 분석결과, 상업지역의 경우 다른 토지이용에 비해 높은 유출률과 고농도의 오염물질이 유출되기에 다른 토지이용보다 비점오염원 관리시 우선적으로 관리가 필요한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 토지이용별 연간 모니터링 횟수를 산정한 결과, 공업지역의 경우 11~14회, 교통지역은 12~14회, 상업지역은 11~13회, 주거지역은 22~25회로 분석되었다. 다년간 축적된 모니터링 자료를 이용하더라도 일부 오염물질 항목에서 높은 오차가 나타남에 따라 여전히 높은 확률의 불확실성이 존재하며 지속적인 모니터링 수행으로 오차를 줄이기 위한 모니터링 노하우 정립 및 데이터 축적이 요구된다.
This study was carried out to runoff characteristics in an upland livestock manure compost. Irrigation, runoff and water quality data in the upland were analyzed periodically from May to November in 2011. The observed amount of rainfall, irrigation, runoff for the experimental upland during the investigation period were 1,299.7 mm, 32.0 mm, and 340.7 mm, respectively. The concentrations of T-N in compost and non-compost upland during study period were ranged from 2.09 mg/L to 6.66 mg/L and from 1.99 mg/L to 6.01 mg/L, respectively. which was generally higher than the quality standard of agricultural water (1.0 mg/L). The concentrations of T-P in compost and non-compost upland during study period were ranged from 0.069 mg/L to 0.525 mg/L and from 0.018 mg/L to 0.152 mg/L, respectively. The runoff pollutants loadings of T-N and T-P in compost upland were 10.05 kg/ha and 0.56 kg/ha, respectively. The runoff pollutants loadings of T-N and T-P in non-compost upland were 9.09 kg/ha and 0.26 kg/ha, respectively. The runoff pollutants loadings in T-N and T-P from this study were much lower values than the pollutant loadings of T-N and T-P from the upland published by the others studies. Runoff pollution loadings due to the upland field in order to identify the characteristics of various crops, farming methods and a variety of targets taking into account regional characteristics by conducting continuous monitoring runoff load estimate will be required.
Effective nonpoint source (NPS) pollution management requires frequent water quality monitoring, which is, however, often costly to be implemented in practice. Statistical techniques and machine learning methods allow us to identify and focus on fundamental environmental variables that have close relationships with NPS pollutants of interest. This study developed surrogate models to predict the concentrations of suspended sediment (SS) and total phosphorus (T-P) from turbidity and runoff discharge rates using multiple linear regression (MLR) and random forest (RF) methods. The RF models provided acceptable performance in predicting SS and T-P, especially when runoff discharge rates were high. The RF models outperformed the MLR models in all the cases. Such finding highlights the potential of RF techniques and models as a tool to identify fundamental environmental variables that are measured in relatively inexpensive ways or freely available but still able to provide information required to quantify the concentrations of NP S pollutants. The analysis of relative importance rates showed that the temporal variations of SS and T-P concentrations could be more effectively explained by that of turbidity than runoff discharge rate. This study demonstrated that the advanced statistical techniques such as machine learning could help to improve the efficiency of NPS pollutants monitoring.
In recent years satellite data have been increasingly used for the analysis of floodprone areas. This study was carried out to demonstrate the usefulness of repetitive satellite imagery in monitoring flood levels of the Pyungchang watershed. Runoff characteristics parameters were analyzed by Soil Conservation Service(SCS) Runoff Curve Number(RCN) based on Landsat imagery and Digital Terrain Model data. The RCN average within the watershed was calculated from RCN estimates for all the pixels(picture elements) and adjusted by antecedent precipitation conditions. The direct runoff hydrograph was derived from the unit hydrograph using SCS dimensionless unit hydrograph and effective rainfalls estimated by the SCS method. In comparsion of the direct runoff hydrograph with the measured rating curve their peak times differ by one hour and peak discharges differ by 5.9 percents of the discharge from each other. It was shown that repetitive satellite image could be very useful in timely estimating watershed runoffs and evaluating ever-changing surface conditions of a river basin.
본 연구는 강우시 산업단지에서 발생하는 비점오염원 유출 특성을 평가하여 비점오염원 부하량 및 원단위 산정을 위한 기초자료로 활용하기 위하여 C 산업단지에 대하여 강우유출수 수질모니터링을 수행하였다. IETD 분석결과, 강우지속시간 약 21시간, 강우량 26.44mm인 27시간일 때 비점오염원 모의를 위한 대표 강우 사상으로 선정되었으며, 유량 및 수질조사 모니터링 결과, 1차 강우시 강수량 12.2mm, 강우지속기간 12hr, 선행 건기일 수 3일이었으며, 2차 강우시 강수량 22.1mm, 강우지속시간 12hr, 선행 건기일 수는 7일이었다.
The paper presents the results from the applications of the Water Erosion Prediction Project (WEPP) model to a single plot, and also a small watershed in the Mid Korean Peninsula which is comprised of hillslopes and channels along the water courses. Field monitoring was carried out to obtain total runoff, peak runoff and sediment yield data from research sites. For the plot of 0.63 ha in size, cultivated with com, the relative error of the simulated total runoff, peak runoff rates, and sediment yields using WEPP ranged from -16.6 to 22%, from -15.6 to 6.0%, and from 23.9 to 356.4% compared to the observed data, respectively. The relative errors for the upland watershed of 5.1 ha ranged from -0.7 to 11.1 % for the total runoff, from -6.6 to 35.0 % for the sediment yields. The simulation results seem to justify that WEPP is applicable to the Korean dry croplands if the parameters are correctly defined. The results from WEPP applications showed that the major source areas contributing sediment yield most are downstream parts of the watershed where runoff concentrated. It was suggested that cultural practice be managed in such a way that the soil surface could be fully covered by crop during rainy season to minimize sediment yield. And also, best management practices were recommended based on WEPP simulations.
A one-dimensional kinematic wave model was used to calculate temporal and spatial changes of the highway runoff. Infiltration into pavement was considered using Darcy's law, as a function of flow depth and pavement hydraulic conductivity ($K_p$). The model equation was calculated using the method of characteristics (MOC), which provided stable solutions for the model equation. 22 storm events monitored in a highway runoff monitoring site in west Los Angeles in the U.S. were used for the model calculation and evaluation. Using three different values of $K_p$ ($5{\times}10^{-6}$, $10^{-5}$, and $2{\times}10^{-5}cm/sec$), total runoff volume and peak flow rate were calculated and then compared with the measured data for each storm event. According to the calculation results, $10^{-5}cm/sec$ was considered a site representative value of $K_p$. The study suggested a one-dimensional method to predict hydrodynamic behavior of highway runoff, which is required for the water quality prediction.
