Experiments were conducted to investigate the soil freezing depth and pattern with freezing measuring instruments during 1988-l989 winter season in Kangwon province. Freezing measuring instrument was made with acrylic pipes which were consisted of inner and outer parts. Inner pipe was filled with 0.01 % methylene blue solution and rubber hose to protect pipe breakdown by solution freezing. Freezing measurements were carried out by observing discoloration of methylene blue solution. Moisture content of evergreen trees and ground cover plants was also examined in the winter season. The observed results are as follows: 1.In the land of I OOM above sea level, soil freezing depth became deeper as the sum of Accumulated degree-days of temperature below 0˚C(0˚C . day) increased: Soil freezing depth was 30-40cm at l00˚C, 42-43cm at 150˚C, and 47cm at 200˚C day 2.Soil freezing with vinyl mulching was less developed by l3cm at l00˚C with sum of subzero temperature, by l7cm at 200˚C than that of the bare ground. Soil of rich hulls mulching with 4Ocm was not frozen until soil freezing at the bare ground was developed to 25cm depth. 3.Cashmeron mulching was more effective than felt mulching in the heat insulation of soil. 4.Thawing of soil was done from the lowest part of the frozen in the ground to upward in the beginning and after that it was done from the surface of frozen soil to downward. Finally thawing was completed at the middle of frozen soil.
This study was aimed to suggest reliable information of shear strength characteristics due to change of saturation in the landfills or slopes during rainfall infiltration. According to the Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria, the characteristics of shear strength due to change of saturation were analyzed for the weathered residual soils which were sampled in the road construction site of Daejeon city. From the direct shear strength tests, the cohesions and the shear resistance angles were showed maximum values in the condition of optimum moisture content, and then decreased in the condition of wet side compaction. In this study, the cohesions were decreased more than 50% according to increasing saturation by infiltration for the compaction soils. But the reductions of the shear resistance angles were about $1{\sim}2^{\circ}$ which was small value, and thus the changes of the saturation were not nearly influenced the shear resistance angle. The influences of the saturation were seemed to very small for the residual strength parameters according to Mohr-Coulomb failure criteria.
This research is to figure out the manufacture proper1ies and the effect of adding red ginseng powder into cookies. When adding red ginseng powder into wheat, there was no significant change in moisture content while the amount of WRC and AWFC increased significantly. In the manufacturing and quality characteristics, there was no noticeable change in thickness and spreadability. Also, wheat cookies containing red ginseng powder didn't show significant differences either and the control plot had the biggest diameter. The change of chromaticity showed that L-value and b-value seemed to significantly decrease while a-value increased a lot In other words, the more ginseng powder was added, the darker its external colour became. In the organic characteristics, the control plot showed the best result in volume, crust, top grain and in almost every part. The volume had the most satisfying result with 6% of red ginseng powder added, and there was not much difference among the groups added with red ginseng powder. Generally, adding up tp 12% of ginseng powder was found best when making cookies.

Seedling stage is particularly important for tree survival and is easily influenced by warming. Therefore, air temperature being increased due to climate change may affect physiological traits and growth of seedlings. This study was conducted to investigate the physiological and growth responses of Larix kaempferi seedlings to open-field experimental warming. 1-year-old and 2-year-old L. kaempferi seedlings were warmed with infrared lamps since April 2015 and April 2014, respectively. The seedlings in the warmed plots were warmed to maintain the air temperature to be $3^{\circ}C$ higher than that of the control plots. Physiological responses (stomatal conductance, transpiration rate, net photosynthetic rate and total chlorophyll content) and growth responses (root collar diameter (RCD), height and biomass) to experimental warming were measured. Physiological and growth responses varied with the seedling ages. For 2-year-old L. kaempferi seedlings, stomatal conductance, transpiration rate and net photosynthetic rate decreased following the warming treatment, whereas there were no changes for 1-year-old L. kaempferi seedlings. Meanwhile, total chlorophyll content was higher in warmed plots regardless of the seedling ages. Net photosynthetic rate linked with stomatal conductance also decreased due to the drought stress and decrease of photosynthetic efficiency. In response to warming, RCD, height and biomass did not show significant differences between the treatments. It seems that the growth responses were not affected as much as physiological responses were, since the physiological responses were not consistent, nor the warming treatment period was enough to have significant results. In addition, multifactorial experiments considering the impact of decreased soil moisture resulting from elevated temperatures is needed to explicate the impacts of a wide range of possible climate change scenarios.
This paper describes the observed behavior in the direct shear test on decomposed granite soil having the complicate engineering properties at various different levels of factors. The objectives of this study were to investigate the characteristics of the decomposed granite soil under controlled various moisture content, dry density, strain rate and soaking which give influence to the shear strength. The results were summarized as follows; 1. The shear strength was decreased remarkably with the increasing of moisture contents of A and B soil were 5-10% and 15-20% respectively. 2. Cohesion and angle of internal friction were decreased with the increasing of moisture content and increased with the increasing of dry density. 3. The shear strength was increased with the increasing of normal stress and volume change was decreased on the whole. The shear strength was generally increased with the increasing of the strain rate. 4. As dry density increases, A-soil shows the progressive failure and the decrease of volume change while B-soil shows the initial failure and the increase of volume change. 5. The relationships between the soaked and unsoaked specimens were as follows ; ${\tau}_f=0.1009+1.026{{\tau}_f}^*$ (A-soil), ${\tau}_f=0.1586+0.8005{{\tau}_f}^*$ (B-soil) 6. Angle of internal friction of the direct shear test shows larger value than that of the triaxial compression test. All effective stress path was nearly similar.

This study investigates the changes in inorganic composition and the microbial counts during the process of fermentation of mixed domestic organic resources for the development of alternatives for imported oil cake, and examines the characteristics of mixed fermentation organic fertilizer (MFOF). The effect of the MFOF on the lettuce growth is investigated in order to evaluate the possibility of replacing the existing mixed oil cake with the MFOF. Six kinds of domestic by-product resources, which are rice bran, distiller's dried grains, sesame meal, fish meal, and spent mushroom substrate, are mixed by mixing ratio and the composition was analyzed during the fermentation process for 90 days under moisture content 30% and sealed condition. During the 90 days of fermentation, the pH change of the MFOF was little, and the moisture content was maintained at 34-35% until the 60th day of fermentation, and then decreased to 30-31% on the 90th day. Total nitrogen content remained unchanged during the fermentation period, but total carbon content showed a significant difference on the 21st day of fermentation. It was confirmed that the content of fertilizer composition (nitrogen, phosphate, and potash) of the MFOF was 8.7% or more, which is suitable for the minimum amount standard of the main nutrients to be contained in the organic fertilizer. During the fermentation process of organic fertilizer, the density of bacteria and actinomycetes increased until 60 days and 30 days, respectively, and thereafter little changes were shown, and fungal population showed an increasing trend. As a result of lettuce cultivation test in the greenhouse by applying the MFOF, the growth and yield were comparable to that of using the existing mixed oil cake fertilizer when 100% was applied based on crop standard nitrogen fertilizer level. The use of mixed fermentation organic fertilizer made with domestic by-product resources can be used for use in farms in the future and is expected to contribute to the stable production of environment friendly agricultural products.

This study was carried out to obtain basic data for technical inprovement about cultivation according to micrometerological changes under various mulching materials in Dendropanox morbifera LEV. The results are summarized as follows. Transparent polyethylene film and black polyethylene film mulching materials increased the soil porosity and reduced change of the soil moisture content. The rate of missing plant during overwinter increased in the control plot. Growth of Dendropanox morbifera LEV, was accelerated by transparent polyethylene film and black polyethylene film mulched.
A study on the effect of the biodegradability of the composting bulking agent in the swine manurecomposting was carried out in a batch system. The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of the biodegradability of the composting-bulking agent on the efficiency of the composting. In this study, it is the lignins: Klason-Lignin in the volatile solid that the index of the biodegradability of the composting-material mixes which are pig manure-rice straw pig manure-sawdusts pig manuremixture of rice and ricestraw (2:1) pig manure-mixture of rice and sawdust (1:1). It was carried out in the same condition (moisture contents, air supply rate, C/N ratio, initial input weight, porosity-structure) except the biodegradability of the raw material mixes. One of the results from this study is that the biodegradability of the bulking agent in the sense of the VS lignin content is not an insignificant factor in composting reaction. The less contents of the lignin in VS, the more efficiencies of the cornposting reaction in use of these parameters for the degree of the reaction: temperature, the trends of the ash contents, the change pattern of the C/N ratio. Under some assumptions, it is able to induce rough model on the relation of the VS lignin contents with the efficiency of the degradability. In this model, the biodegradability of the bulking agent is not an insignificant factor however, it is flexible within some degrees of range.
A well-bucket excavated from Seobu-dong, Kyungju was characterized and conserved. The bucket was heavily degraded by a diverse set of microorganisms during its long-term storage in the burial site. The distribution of maximum saturated moisture content was in the range of 614-1050%. The identification of species using optical microscope showed that the species was Pinus densiflora. The dimensional stability of the bucket was examined using sucrose as a dimension-stabilizing agent. The concentration of sucrose was started at 10% level and raised to 30, 50, 70% for 8 weeks. The changes of weight increase were varied with concentration. When the concentration of sucrose reached to 30%, 50%, the bucket showed the significant increase of weight, especially. Epoxy adhesives was used for the joining and restoring. Dimensional change and crack were not observed afterward.
